  1. That's not very specific. I saw it on TV initially, and I was actually surprised it was for DS3. It was clever and had a great song choice. It caught my attention, which is rare for a commercial.
  2. What, exactly, do you dislike about the DS3 commercial?
  3. Really? It's actually a commercial (The DS3 one) and I thought it was great. The problem is they are both silly, but only one was being silly on purpose.
  4. At this stage in my life, none of those are really wanted at my parties. But the first two are the only ones that wouldn't bother me back in my college days.
  5. Not at all, at least in the US. I'm not sure if it has expanded at all, are you really going to argue that there was less drug use in the 60's and 70's?
  6. For the record, I also am talking more about decriminalization than making everything legal.
  7. Well, it has couch co-op, and that is fairly rare nowadays, so it makes sense to advertise it.

And so begins the offseason... Boston should be able to keep most of this team together, which is always a nice thing for a championship group. I think the Sharks should make a bold move for a better defenseman, but I don't think they will. They are pretty locked into their top two lines. Devin Setoguchi seems to be the one guy that is tradeable and will net a good return. I also think they've got a decent option at center, they have two second line centers in Joe Pavelski and Logan Couture. I hate to think about trading Pavelski, but if it brings a top defenseman to the team, it might be worth it. edit: Oh, and I don't think anyone called the winner in the last round.
  9. Great commercial! Hopefully it gets some attention.
  10. I know what you are getting at, but drugs are criminalized here, so has that really addressed the overall problem? Again, I'm very much against drugs, including pot. But pot is something you can grow in your backyard, so criminalizing it is simply ineffective.
  11. My kid sister went through a few years of trouble with drugs. She was on the streets, in and out of rehab, and it was extremely difficult on our family. I don't even like to visit my hometown (Santa Cruz) because the drug culture is so rampant it angers me. She is doing great now, has a family and is happy. But I can't imagine how that would have turned out if she was put in prison. The possibility was there, she was using hard stuff, hanging out with bad people. What worked for her was rehabilitation and treatment. It allowed her to right the ship.
  12. Probably not worth it, if you aren't really into it. The first one gave some semi-interesting background on the gameworld, but the second one was, IIRC, absolutely dire. I think I read both of them in a plane, hmm... :D I thought the first one was fairly decent. It was mostly about political intrigue and did a nice job of introducing the world. The second book was fairly rubbish, but I find the wardens to be terribly boring. I doubt I'll read the third, I haven't even been able to get into DA2 so far.
  13. Seconded. Although Jehova's Witnesses are a close second. No birthdays, WTF?!? I know that this it's supposed to be a funny things thread and everything but this post it's just reminding me of my grandmother refusing a transfusion because she is a Jehova's Witness. I'm sorry to hear that Orogun
  14. I'm sure that will turn out well for them

I'm excited to see Boston win this, if they can hold on. Tim Thomas definitely took the road less traveled to become a great goalie, and it is hard not to be happy for him. Although I guess this means the Joe Thornton trade worked out better for the B's

  17. Apparently WoW has lost 600,000 subscribers over the last few months, and the game Rift is getting credit for quite a bit of that exodus. You can also usually tell what kind of numbers an MMO will have longer term after the initial 3-month release window, and Rift has maintained a fairly large player base despite being past that window. But I doubt Rift planned on big numbers, so this is all just icing on the cake for them. I know quite a few MMO's look to hover around the 100k subscriber mark in order to stay in business. SW:TOR is obviously gunning for big numbers, but it also has a ton of hype. So it will either be a big success or a big bomb!
  18. I think it also shows than any western developer that wants to spend the development money to make a run at WOW's dominance is taking a pretty big risk. It's only a big risk if you expect WoW numbers. There are plenty of successful Western MMO studios not named Blizzard. I don't think you need to break $100 million in revenue to be successful.
  19. Nick and Llyr just created new alts, LoF and Freedom Fighter.
  20. The $3.1 Billion combined total of the 10 highest money making MMO points to Free2Play being more sucessful? What? The article explains that most of those games use a free2play model. They make their revenue through selling stuff.
  21. I don't think it is appropriate to say what I use my brownie points for.
  22. That list speaks a lot more to the amazing success of Eastern MMO's than any real shortcomings among Western MMO studios. It also seems to point towards a free2play model being more successful in the long run, as many developers are making that adjustment.
  23. There is a thread for this, but blaming Gearbox completely seems a bit silly. If there was a good game in there during those 15 years, it probably would have been released at some point.
  24. Wow Purkake, he got you spot on
  25. This is probably already posted, but Game Informer gave a solid 8/10 and wrote up a pretty nice review. The word is it is a fantastic action-RPG.
