America is named after Amerigo Vespucci, so it might be more of an Italian thing.

The Sharks traded Heatley to the Wild for Havlat. It's a pretty shocking trade, I didn't think anyone would take Heatley considering his contract. After the shock wore off, I'd say it is a good trade for both sides. The Wild get a guy who can still score a lot of goals, paired with Koivu and Setoguchi they've got a very dangerous top line, which is not something they've always had in the past. San Jose frees up a bit of cap room, adds a guy with good speed, and Havlat has done well in the playoffs. I don't expect him to threaten for 40 goals like I would from Heatley, but the Sharks lacked speed up front, particularly when they traded Setoguchi. It's going to be an interesting season, to say the least. Last year I had trouble getting into the games, but now I've got some fresh faces to follow.

GD, you should get a PS3 and buy MLB 11 The Show. I think you might love it. I know it's a bit pricey to buy a whole system for one game, but the series has proven well worth it for me.

That would make a lot of sense. RTS games have the same issue, they just don't seem to do well on the console, even when they are implemented decently. Halo Wars was reviewed well, based on a blockbuster IP, and it still only managed a million sales. aRPG's seem like they would be easier to make work on the console, but there isn't much history of success there. The big dog Blizzard is strictly PC. The only games I can think of that have done decently in this generation are those Xmen games.

I'd be shocked if Diablo III wasn't better than DS III in terms of gameplay. I'm guessing the implementation will be better, but last year I went back and played Diablo 2, and the whole and hack and slash thing is rather drab. I thought DS3 actually spiced it up, but I've only put in a few hours so far.

I don't know, it's a pretty different marketplace today compared to when DS1&2 came out. DS1 was nearly 9 years ago. Action-RPG's are not a huge genre. It also wasn't as strong an IP as something like Fallout. It's not like the name helped the movie make any money. Do we even know how much the IP cost to acquire?

I'm super excited for Two Worlds 2. Dropping it from $50 to $18 is an awesome discount, and now I can finally play it. I'm glad I waited.

How does that look good? It looks ok. You can go play Alien Swarm, it looks like the same idea.

Actually I agree that Obsidian could pull off an amazing Blade Runner, particularly in the vein of the '97 game. That game had one of the most dynamic plots I had ever seen, and Alpha Protocol may have been the only game I can think of that replicated that.

I dunno, once my son turned 2, things became much easier. I thought that as well, and then my daughter hit four, and a whole slew of new problems arose. They call them the effin fours for a reason. It's funny, but the baby stuff is actually pretty easy for me with the second. He's fairly mellow.

Raising kids is absolutely exhausting. I don't even know what a good night's sleep is anymore. Throw in feeding, bathroom duty, bathing and cleaning, general safety, playtime and everything else that goes into being a decent parent, and it really amounts to an insane amount of responsibility. That being said, I spend most of the day smiling about them and I wouldn't have it any other way.

My first couple years as a teacher there were a couple slip ups, but usually it was 'crap' or 'pain in the ass' instead of the big ones. It made the kids gasp, which was pretty funny

You mean it isn't selling like the next Call of Duty!?! What a disaster, the folks at Obsidian need to loot the office of everything valuable and head for the hills! You are all doomed!

I just picked up Darksiders for $5. Looks interesting enough, but I will probably keep it on the shelf for a bit.

Cool. I found myself needing a new car right after my second kid was born. We went to Costco and realized we couldn't fit our groceries, our children, and the stroller in our Honda CR-V. I had a Honda Accord at the time so it was traded in for a Jeep Grand Cherokee.

I played a couple hours of Just Cause 2 last night. Still getting the hang of all the controls, but it's as fun as ever. I don't even bother with the storyline, I just travel from village to village trying to get all the crates and destroy all the red stuff. The DLC is interesting, but I need more money to buy the cool stuff. Don't forget to go find the airship casino folks, that thing is awesome.

Your words are hurtful, but I realize you are just showing signs of anger displacement due to the bullying you have encountered. I hope you find happiness somewhere.

I happened across a conversation thread from the Codex with Volourn, and those folks are just mean to him. It brought to mind the character of Simon in the Lord of the Flies (kid with glasses.) So now I feel sorry for him more than anything. Fight the good fight Volo!

The Ehrhoff deal is 10 years/$40 million. Hugely front loaded. $8 million signing bonus/$2 million salary in the first year, $5 million signing bonus/$2 million salary in the second year. Whoops, I made it sound more crazy than it is. Still sounds like way too much money for a guy that isn't really even a top two defensman. I think I read the cap hit was $4 million a season, which I suppose is more reasonable, but it still sounds crazy.

Do you recommend a controller for the PC Purk?
-
Crap, I made this thread almost 6 years ago. I really have no idea what the storyline is anymore, 6 years is too long to go in between books!
-
I am shocked at the deal Erhoff signed with Buffalo for 10 years and 70 million. That is an insane amount for a 5th defensman. Have they ever watched they guy play?
-
I picked it up a few minutes ago. I loved it when I had it on the PS3, so I figure it will be a good addition to my PC library. Although I wonder if it would be better with a controller? I've been thinking about picking one up anyway. I grabbed all the DLC too, came out to about $7. I looked long and hard at Shogun 2, but $30 still seemed a bit steep. Black Ops is also up there for $40, which doesn't seem all that great of a price either.

I don't really post on facebook without thinking, in fact I delete quite a few comments before posting because I think they might come across as snarky. It is different when I am in person and I can use inflection and all that. I agree forums are great for serious discussions, but I'm not going to get my mom to join a forum. As for the emphasis on pictures, I really enjoy being able to watch my friends kids grow up and to see how they are doing. Without facebook that would be more difficult to do, particularly the ones who are far away. There are other outlets for this communication, email and the like, but Facebook makes things very simple.

I'm hoping Two Worlds 2 goes on sale one of these days. I can't think of anything else I really want. Blood Bowl looks interesting.
