  1. I did jot down a quick poem for the missus. The Future Some day a powerful rocket will blast Deep into space in search of a new home Loaded with records of our ancient past Amongst the shining comets it will roam The caretakers of this majestic ship Will ascend from an epic lineage Born from the love of Missy and Patrick The catalyst, the spark of a new age Passion and faith will lead the human race Beyond our blanket of comforting stars Because love like ours is grander than space It could conquer the great red god of Mars Some day we will reach the heavens above And gift them the rich story of our love.
  2. I'm going to go play hockey, and my wife is going to stay home and watch the kids. I got her flowers two weeks ago before the prices went through the roof, and I'm taking her to a nice dinner sometime next week. Screw the calendar.
  3. Stephen Curry probably doesn't win the 3 point competition, he seems to to better under real pressure.
  4. Happy to finish up the week, we leave for Vegas on Monday. Yay!
  5. Sometimes it seems like Saint's Row and Just Cause are the only ones that remember games are supposed to be fun.
  6. Apparently the former SOE is getting hit hard with layoffs and resignations. It is not looking good for Everquest and all the other titles developed there.
  7. Nope. The forums are active and there was even a video posted by a community manager yesterday. Also, Obsidian is just the developer, they aren't running the forum and wouldn't make a decision on shutting the game down. Your issue is with My.com.
  8. The wife and I are about two months into yoga, and we are definitely getting stronger. Workouts that wiped us out are much easier now, and so we've continued to add and mix up new stuff. We've done a mix of Denise Austin and this girl named Adriene. Crazy fact: Adriene is the voice of a bunch of characters in DC Universe Online.
  9. Ah, you got me there. After playing BG: Dark Alliance, I realized the console stuff was not for me.
  10. Of course. I played every one on release, including Tactics.
  11. The history of postal service gives us a rich narrative on the efficiency and organization of budding empires. From the Quipu's of the Inca's to the Pony Express, delivering messages is nothing to make light of.
  12. Ubisoft have never disappointed me, then again I don't buy their games on release. Well I'm keeping them on the list because I hate that I need Uplay even when I buy a game on Steam.
  13. Rationale discourse on current events and putting them in the context of comparable historical scenarios, of course.
  14. Uh huh, well it sure got you sore enough, the sulky last line is a touch. As I wrote, the games weren't dead in that you could not play them or find them if you were really that inclined. Not that it being dead in that way is all that bad anyway, mind you. And yes, it was trendy to hate on them, which is why doing it isn't a hipster thing to do...which is what I posted a while ago. So why did you get sore about me getting sore about people that get sore about Bethesda, again?
  15. I wasn't really all that much in agreement in the first part, with all the Daggerfall stuff, but once he brought up Roberta Williams I perked up. There was an attempt to kickstart a documentary on Sierra On-Line a couple years ago. It failed, and I was very disappointed. We need more books and documentaries on the history of gaming. It is rich and fascinating stuff, but I can count the amount of decent books on one hand. It's a crime that the history of Sierra On-Line is not well documented. As for actually playing the classics, I'm not sure if that is needed. It is enough for me that so many games are clearly inspired by the classics.
  16. I never said Fallout 3 was an excellent game, don't put words in my mouth Bruce.
  17. Yes, well good for Obsidian and their bank account and all but this whole "they saved FO!" argument for gratitude to Bethesda is old and seems to be based on this being necessary for the good of the gaming community or something grander than that. As people have said, the games weren't 'dead' in the some way some abandonware titles are or something like that In what way were they alive? Interplay owned the rights, they aren't exactly developing real games anymore. The franchise was going nowhere. I'm not actually a huge fan of Bethesda. I don't finish most of their games and I don't think they can write their way out of a wet paper bag. They are just another game company with good and bad qualities. I only spoke up here because people were bashing them for bizarre stuff, like ESO and Fallout 3. It is so trendy to hate on all these companies and it it super repetitive. You are kidding yourself if you don't think that is the case. But hey, enjoy having every thread turn into a rant against the big bad publishers and wistful memories of the glory days.
  18. It would be fine if we didn't have New Vegas? I disagree, since it was a great game. But it was also Obsidian's best selling title, which has helped them stay a financially fit company, which put them in a good position to launch a successful kickstarter. This stuff doesn't happen in a vacuum.
  19. Yes, Fallout was alive and well in the capable hands of Interplay before Bethesda forced them to give it up. Fallout Online was clearly going to be a smash hit. We do not get a New Vegas without Bethesda. So which would you rather have, Interplay's Fallout Online or Obsidian's New Vegas?
  20. In this case, I think you're being the 'hipster' when it comes to hating on Bethesda for being a AAA garbage peddler or whatever. Isn't all that uncommon or against the grain. Also, what's hilarious about that LoL post ? Mildly amusing, half expected it to wander off into deep Troll territory though. The PA comic is about as dull as I've come to expect from them though (oh look Tycho's using a thesaurus!!) Ok Mr. Apathy, I guess I'm the hipster. I'm sorry you couldn't find any humor in the LoL parenting advice letter. That's actually tragic. Get better soon.
  21. I don't know how you can see those pages of the Collector's Book and not want it ASAP. I want it as early as possible, and definitely before I play the game.
  22. So I guess this open letter was posted to the League of Legends forum, and it is the most hilarious thing I have ever read: Penny Arcade already did a comic that summed up my reaction to it. Oh boy. The comments are just as rich. Edit: Make sure you read some of the comments that are hidden because they have been downvoted. They are the sane people. http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/miscellaneous/bEhf1EPt-open-letter-to-parents-of-league-of-legends-players
  23. Wait, so is Bethesda now a bad guy? I didn't realize they are on the EA/Bioware/Ubisoft list, I'll have to pencil them in. It's tough keeping track of this hipster hate stuff.
  24. You could say the same thing about people who say they earned a purple heart but didn't. Or people who claim on their resumes to have worked for IBM, but didn't. No, the IBM one would improve your credentials. What I am saying is it does not improve his credibility to be on the helicopter that was hit, at least not enough to warrant the risk of lying.
