  1. I replayed arcanum with the widescreen mod a couple years ago, it looks pretty good actually. So I don't think we need a remake. I did enjoy the universe and would love another game in it, but I'm not sure who owns the IP. The music is top notch.
  2. So I've gotten into my second playthrough after stalling out the first time. It is still a very impressive and engaging game, this time I need to just stick to the storyline more so I don't get burnt out searching for mosaic pieces and plants.
  3. As Gromnir said (I think) it is about making a lifestyle change, which is hardly a simple thing to do. Sure, the concept is simple, but actually changing everything around you and positioning yourself for success is incredibly tough. As I've said a few time before, Woldan will have an easier time understanding all this stuff when he hits his thirties. Maybe he will lead a charmed life and have great metabolism, injury recovery time, and less responsibilities in life, but I doubt it.
  4. I kind of take it for granted that most people don't trust politicians. It made me wonder the other day, does Oby have complete trust in Putin?
  5. Well I guess that explains why Jillian Michaels keeps quitting the show.
  6. I have played the new version of Avernum a bit. While it is good, and I did give it a few hours, I still lost interest rather quickly. I guess I'm just a shallow guy in it for the looks.
  7. I wouldn't worry about UC Santa Cruz, they are too busy eating 'shrooms and running through the forests.
  8. Well to go along with the theme, some dumb college kids voted against displaying the American flag in the campus lobby. http://losangeles.cbslocal.com/2015/03/06/uc-irvine-students-vote-to-remove-american-flag-from-campus-lobby/ Glad I went to a state school instead of a UC.
  9. It's nice to see that they are continuing to work on it though and recognize it is pretty flawed.
  10. That's the cheapest Alienware I've ever seen.
  11. The Biggest Loser makes it pretty clear that just about anybody can get fit if they put the time and energy in.
  12. Just got a $400 bill for some work on the RV. It's actually pretty reasonable for all the work. I got an oil change for the engine and the generator, they serviced the AC, replaced one of the vents that had fallen apart, resealed some spots on the roof, and then installed a disconnect switch for the engine battery. But now it should be ready for summer adventures.
  13. I've been fighting that a bit with the impending release of Pillars of Eternity. I'm unhappy with everything else because I know it is just around the corner.
  14. I waited until I was almost 21 before I had my first drink. I still drink pretty infrequently, it is rare to have anything during the week, but I've come to appreciate the way different alcohols can compliment food. There are some meals that simply shine when paired with the right drink. I'm also fascinated by the whole brewing process, and I love trying to pick out the different flavors and aromas that go into well crafted beers. It can also be plenty relaxing. Oh, and apparently drinking red wine is like exercising, so drink up.
  15. If anything, DA3 made it pretty clear that Bioware was still in the drivers seat. They took all the criticisms of DA2 and made massive changes to try and fix the IP. You can argue that they simply went in another bad direction, but they definitely were given the rope to overhaul the game.
  16. Na... they aren't going to regroup anything. EA is where good studios die. EA has been cannibalizing game studios for about 20 years. Bullfrog, Origin, Maxis, Westwood, and many others. Bought by EA, used, abused, eaten up, discarded. We'll see the same happen to Bioware in a few years. Maxis has been with EA for 15 years, and the Sims was developed under that partnership. I'd agree with you on the others, but the EA/Maxis relationship is a tough sell in teh EAvil Empire argument.
  17. Pretty crazy that there were three Warriors in there, two former ones in Lin and Ellis, and then Curry.
  18. Finished up my taxes, I owe a bit less than last year, but it still sucks. Also briefly entertained the idea of writing a beer based story, where different types of beer play certain roles and have characteristics. A BEERPG, or maybe a PnP type game. Of course that would mean Pub 'n Paper. My central characters will be Porter, IPA, Hefe, and Amber.
  19. I wish politicians had a high burnout rate. They seem to stick around in their jobs forever.
  20. One time I joined up with a guild in an MMO, and over a couple months I realized that the majority of the members were on disability and seemed incredibly unhealthy. Of course they were zooming by me on the content (even during my summer break!) so I ended up leaving, but it was hard to see people so utterly involved in a videogame that they neglect their health. Limits are important.
  21. Awesome, I've been waiting for it to get stable. Looks like it is close.
  22. I disagree with this, there have been a number of small team success stories in the last few years. You don't need Minecraft numbers (which are frankly insane) to make it.
  23. Independent developers already have way more tools at their disposal than they ever did in the past to spread the word about their product. Do you really feel like there are a bunch of amazing independent titles out there that are not getting exposure? I'd even say the next great author or musician has it way tougher than the next great game developer.
  24. Independent developers really shouldn't rely on game journalists for anything. Sure, it is nice when they get a mention in the popular press, but word of mouth is way more important for someone without an advertising budget.
  25. To be fair, that building is just awesome, and if I saw it I would be compelled to buy Ice Cream no matter what the weather was like.
