  2. My favorite wines are usually Syrahs and Pinot Noirs. They are both reds with a good strong flavor. Whites tend to be sweeter. Here you go: http://www.winemag.com/red-wine-basics/ I have wineries all around me, so I just go to a few a do a tasting to figure out what I like. French style wines tend to be sweeter and fruitier, while Italian tend to be dry and spicy. I've really only been getting into wine in the last couple years, so that's the gist of what I've picked up. The winery does make a pretty big difference by the way, or rather where they get their grapes.
  3. TN this is awesome, he might be my new favorite Yoga instructor:
  4. You can also look up specific videos on back strengthening Yoga exercises. Something like this will work:
  5. Hm...i´m sceptical, twisting my body to help my back sounds very counterproductive, not saying it won´t work. Just being sceptical, i´m a big guy (and i don´t mean fat with that), Bending myself doesn´t work very well, i know its a matter of training. The idea however is interesting. hmmmm...thinking about it. Start with beginner programs. Most exercises or postures have a lot of variations depending on your ability and flexibility. When I started, touching my toes without majorly bending my knees was a pipe dream, but know I'm really seeing some progress in my hamstrings and my back. This girl is a good place for beginners, plus she is pretty cute: https://www.youtube.com/user/yogawithadriene Then my other favorite is Denise Austin, who does a wide range of cardio, pilates, and yoga in her videos. She is 58 and looks better than most people in their 20's, and she's been making videos for about 30 years.
  6. I'd recommend Yoga if you want to strengthen your back. The nice thing is all you need is a mat and some youtube videos to get started on that. Mix in some Pilates as well. I started in on a daily regimen about 6 months ago and my back pain has lessened considerably.

  8. Yeah, my middle schoolers think everything is racist or sexist. It take a bit of work to get them to understand that discussing demographics, stereotypes, cultures, etc. is not bigotry, and is really the only way to develop an understanding about diversity and world issues.

  10. So apparently I get air sickness. I was pretty much miserable for the flight and the drive home. Weird, I was fine on the way TO Vegas, but flying home was horrible. Last trip I got sick as well, but I blamed that on the massive hangover and a bad sandwich. Today I was sober and healthy until the plane lifted off.
  11. I remember my first job interview as a teacher was at an inner city school with a black principal. It went terrible. She waa cutting me off midway through questions and pretty much rushed me out the door. Was it because I was lily white? I was pretty frustrated, this was one of the worst schools in the area and it was clear I was not going to get an offer, despite having openings. But it worked out, a few days later I got a much nicer gig at a great school. My chances of burnout would have been higher at the other job. She probably did me a favor, but it still felt terrible at the time.
  12. I am on my way home from Vegas in much better shape than the previous trip. 4 days is pretty much ideal, we got to do a ton and I just started to get worried about how much money I am spending. It was a great trip, no luck at the tables, but good dinner and some fun times with my wife.
  13. My 1200 baud modem scoffs at your torrent issues.
  14. All you youngin's are showing your age with not knowing Derek Smart. He was a huge figure of controversy back in the day. Bigger than Peter Molyneaux.
  15. Geez, when did mkreku get so serious? mkranky might be a better nickname. I am in Vegas, so my options are much better than Hooters and Playboy. I am poolside staring at boobs as we speak. It is very mature and serious stuff.
  16. Last night I ate beef tartar and octopus. It was pretty rich stuff. I was pretty wiped out by it, but I was able to get a nice run in this morning and now I feel much better. It was pretty awesome running by the Luxor and Mandalay Bay, I do not usually make it that far down the strip. Now we are enjoying our high roller room for a bit longer before we move to a cheaper place.
  17. I am a bit surprised how many people say they did not care for Witcher 2 but loved Witcher 3. It is surprising that you would even buy it at full price in that situation. Personally I will wait for a deep discount before thinking about it.
  18. It dawns on me that I have zero interest in this. But I might change my mind when it gets closer to the horizon.
  19. it´s 16 in most states if that graphic is correct: It's a bit more complicated than that: http://age-of-consent.findthedata.com/
  20. That's interesting, since the first thing I wrote in this thread was "22 years is a crazy sentence." The original poster also said "Boy wants to have sex, teacher wants to have sex - so what's the problem?" The entire premise of this thread was to teacher sex. It is led with a picture of her and a halo over her head.
  21. Did he compare them ? Seems he reduced the plot in a same way, not a comparison. Nor did he claim they are high art. But oh well, usual dogs yapping. Why bring up a movie about the holocaust in connection with The Witcher at all, then? His argument seems to be that it is mature because it spits in the face of puritanical western values. Then he said my comprehension is not good enough to understand the game story, so maybe it also isn't good enough to understand his point.
  22. I am proud to be an American and I wear my flag proudly. I take part in the pledge of allegiance and the star spangle banner regularly and with pride. But of course I understand that the same symbol can have a very different meaning in other parts of the world and/or time. Sometimes symbols become too overwhelmingly negative. The swastika has been slowly phased out of many Buddhist temples around the world because of what the Nazis did. Is it fair that such an ancient symbol has been tarnished in such a way? Probably not, but such is life.
  23. I'm amazed how many people are defending a teacher sleeping with their students. That seems like a pretty basic no no.
  24. I'm not quite sure where I mentioned violence. I said abuse of power, that doesn't imply physical. Other than that, I'm not sure what you are getting at. Are you really defining sex as a basic physiological function? If that is true, you might be doing it wrong. edit: Ah, I got it, the cop reference. It is more a comparison of authority figures being held to a higher standard. How hard is it as a teacher to not have sex with your students? It seems like a pretty low bar to clear.
