  1. If it goes onto Kindle Unlimited, and you read it that way, does a tree fall in the forest and make a noise?
  2. That's awesome! I wish I had the money, I hate flats.
  3. Reviews became pretty worthless when everyone and their dog was able to do them. The days of CGW having actual journalists are long behind us. I don't get how people watch all these youtube reviewers.
  4. I don't see it. Biden is the democratic candidate until he decides not to run, or his time runs out. Neither Newsom or Harris are challenging that. Barring an actual legal success, he'll be facing Trump, which means we get two old guys with questionable cognitive skills. What a time to be alive.
  5. NMS is worth the price. They released a ton of huge extra content for free. I've had some good fun with the game.
  6. Here's the thing, No Man's Sky lets you explore a vast amount of space freely. You can fly around, plunge through the atmosphere, and even plunge into the oceans of water planets. It's alien and colorful and diverse. But it's also completely lacking in people to talk to. The story is weird. It feels empty a lot of the time, despite the fact huge fleets follow you around to each star system. It feels random. It's a good game, but I prefer the story, the characters, and the fast travelling around to different quests that I get in Starfield.
  7. Ship and base building is a bit more complex than expected. It isn't too hard to do some basic stuff, but after that you need skill points, resources, and probably a decent guide. I'm enjoying a bunch of the side quests though. I'm also still pretty impressed at how unrandom the random generation seems.
  8. I've been selling almost everything that isn't a resource or currently equipped. I'm bummed about the lack of a rover as well, but hopefully that will be a DLC. I also took too long to realize certain planets are much easier to jump around on. You move pretty quickly that way on low gravity planets. I also haven't upgrade my jetpack yet.
  9. i haven't figure out gravity in this game at all. On Mars I realized I could just jump off the top deck of the hub and float down 3 levels instead of taking the elevator. But it does seem a bit wonky. I just unlocked the boostpack skill.
  10. I don't know that I can compare them that way. It compares well to Daggerfall because it is a massive world that relies on fast travel and randomization. Morrowind is my favorite of the Oblivion/Skyrim grouping because it is a very unique setting, instead of generic fantasy, but it's still not the same scale as Starfield and Daggerfall.
  11. BG3

  12. BG3

This game is overrated. It is just a dice roll generator with a bunch of oversexed 1-dimensional companions. Jagged Alliance 3 is way better.
  13. Comparing BG3 and Starfield is dumb. I guess if you are just talking about the character creator, then yeah, BG3 wins hands down. Other than that, the games are totally different. It's like me comparing BG3 to JA3. Yeah, they both have TB combat, and JA3 is way superior in that realm, but after that they totally diverge in gameplay experience. If you are just talking about bugs and stability, then I'd rate Starfield the same as BG3. JA3 was way buggier, but it doesn't matter, because it is still the best game to come out in the last 20 years.
  14. Here's a funny thing. I was actually not a big fan of Skyrim or Fallout 4. I mean, they were decent open world games, and I got my money's worth, but the story totally fell flat with me. Same with Oblivion and Fallout 3. The gameplay was so-so. The world building was pretty good and that was basically why I played them. Starfield, on the other hand, is way more up my alley. Tons of gameplay options and a much more palatable story. It's probably my favorite Bethesda game since Daggerfall (or maybe Lost Vikings?) Maybe it's too early to call it, but I'm comfortable with it so far. Between this and JA3, it's been a great couple months of gaming.
  15. I don't know if you can fly into the atmosphere, but you can fly around space and dock with stations and other ships. I think it is just that everything is so far apart, they decided to make it easy to skip around via fast travel instead. I guess I should try to fly around in the atmosphere, but I've mostly been just running around everywhere. I could use a rover in this game too.
  16. Stephen King is amazingly prolific, though. I mean, his writing discipline is basically unmatched in this generation. It may not all be Shakespeare, (which is a misnomer, since Shakespeare actually did write quite a bit of average crowd pleasers in between the classics) but I definitely admire the work ethic.
  17. You don't have to do anything to unlock the first level of a skill, but to level the skill up, you need to complete a challenge. For example, to increase my persuasion skill to level 2, I need to successfully persuade people 5 times. I had my first mission where I needed to actually be a decent pilot. It was pretty tough at first as I figured out how to balance my power levels to the shields, guns, and engines. Also thank goodness I upgraded my ship with missiles. Once I got the hang of the dogfight, it turned out pretty well. I'm curious how well an actual decent battleship handles in combat. Diemos has some pretty sweet looking rides.
  18. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-66712589 Well, the Proud Boys leadership is all locked up now. Of course if Trump wins, I'm guessing they all get pardoned. I'm having a hard time drumming up sympathy for these guys that basically market and profit off hatred and lies. They sold a narrative on overthrowing the government in the name of patriotism, and then are surprised when they get sentence for treason.
  19. As I hinted at earlier, the best part of the new main story, compared to other Bethesda games, is the lack artificial urgency or emotional attachment put into it. No rescuing a family member or stopping gates of Oblivion. There are no giants yelling at you to come visit them on a mountaintop. It's a pretty chill exploration vibe. Build a big base, customize a cool ship, and scan some plants.
