I'd agree if 'tomorrow' means 'not in our lifetimes'. As is, we would need luck to even see asteroid mining happen. I'm not willing to take that bet, given the fact I had to dial home with a rotary phone as a kid and now my phone can basically access all of human knowledge. If it becomes a priority it will move very quickly.

Story of the season, pretty much.

It was pretty expensive to start, mostly because I'm too obsessive to just use the basic kit and had to get a bunch of other doodads.

Today I brewed my first batch of beer. It was fun, but now the nerve-wracking wait to see if it will ferment and taste good is upon me.

Talk about long term design. When did LotRO come out? I wish I could go back, but the last couple times the magic wasn't there. I didn't like Rohan or Gondor.

And it would take trillions to extract them while you can do it on earth for far less. If there was profit in space mining people would be doing it right now. Technology improves and becomes less expensive over time, so just because it seems like a profit losing endeavor today, does not mean it will stay that way tomorrow. It also comes down to motivation. China had a massive fleet of ships a full century before the Age of Exploration that were superior to the caravel ships used by Columbus. But they saw no profit in it and had no need for more resources and land. The Europeans, on the other hand, were being squeezed out of the trade markets by powerful Muslim empires and were desperate to find ways to expand. They were willing to take greater risks. That is what you will need to see happen for a decent boost in the space age.

I'm still waiting on all of my favorite Sierra Adventure game developers to release their products. The only other dud I had was At The Gates, a Civ style game by the Civ 5 lead dev. But I didn't go all in on that one, so no big loss. I think I've come out ahead on the whole KS deal.

I've had a lot of summer projects this year, which are all a result of moving my in-laws in. But I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, and the house is finally coming together. Yesterday I finished building a small loft in the garage for storage. Our garage is super tall with rafters, so it was an adventure climbing around up there and nailing down plywood. Between that and the Rubbermaid Storage Shed I built last week, I was able to store away a good deal of stuff and free up room for my garage. My garage has a gymnastics area, a hockey goal with a shooting pad, and a brewing station, so it was nice to get it back into usable condition. My hops are growing well, so I'm excited to have this set up: (This is the hockey setup taken before all the moving, it's back in action now.)

Ready Player One is a fantastic book for anyone that grew up in the 80's. It remains to be seen whether it will translate into a good film. It's like a slightly more serious version of Wreck-It Ralph.

Defending the guy? Is that what you think is happening here? You posted a story about the review, which was funny. But then you said something about being " really concerned about the modern education and "diversity" standards " Which wasn't as funny.

You clearly haven't read many of the articles USA Today publishes. They are all about the click bait. Also why are you taking a movie critic so seriously? As you said, he makes a living off writing reviews. There are two likely scenarios here: He is historically illiterate, or he is trying to make his review stand out from the crowd. You've totally bought in if the latter is the case, we've now given him lots of attention because of your post.

I am not sure I understand the question. All I care about for both soldiers, astronauts, etc. is whether they are physically fit and able to do the job. nice dodge, mental health is irelevant? When I stretch it - i have same problem with new ''Alien' movies. I just can't stand that fact that you would pick so volatile and ''disturbed'' people on mission costing bazilions of cash. If it would be on you wouldn't you pick people 'suited' for that job? I think military is very similiar in that regard... I wasn't trying to dodge, I really didn't understand your question. So your feeling is that transgender people are not mentally equipped to handle military service, I take it? That seems like a pretty serious accusation, and also a slippery slope. Are women unfit for duty? Hormones and all that. There already is a mental health requirement for enlistees in the military. The only thing that should matter is if the person can pass that, regardless of anything else. Lets be honest, the military is going to attract some head cases. Their gender identity is pretty low on my list of worries as to who we give access to heavy weaponry.

I can respect that. And honestly, if the tweet had simply said that the government will not be covering and transgender surgeries at the expense of the taxpayers, it would be a more reasonable argument. But Trump said they were going to ban a certain group of people from the military. That is pretty much textbook discrimination.

The last paragraph addresses that bit: My guess would be it has something to do with the appeal of service. The military has always been popular as an option for those struggling to find their identity. There seems to be some overlap according to this survey.

It's also a ticket out of the service if that is what the service member wants.
