  1. The collateral damage argument versus terrorism is an interesting one, because we have our militaries actively engaged in many Muslim countries. It's pretty clear terrorists are justifying their acts based on the collateral damage that is happening there.
  2. Easily avoided? How so?
  3. I'm just surprised how quickly people are willing to give up rights. Whenever we have a mass shooting, liberals freak out and want to ban guns, whenever we have terrorism, conservatives freak out and want to ban Muslims. Two ships passing in the night.
  4. I assume they can't return for 3 generations.
  5. Ok, so let's say they do that (The Soros situation sounds a bit more complicated than that, but for simplicity sake.) Where do you deport these people? Also, since a lot of these attacks have been carried out by children of immigrants (who have citizenship), do you still deport them? Is there an example of a recent terrorist attack where these types of policy would have stopped it from happening?
  6. I'm kind of what Sharp_One thinks is the solution here? Just round up thousands of suspicious people and detain them?
  7. I'm not sure that health care is something our society should be using the stick method for. I'd prefer more carrot.
  8. Not enforcing, or getting rid of, the penalties is definitely a positive. Still I'd rather they find a way to make sure people can get covered affordably.
  9. Maybe they look further than the end of their noses? What? You don't know idioms either? Who the hell hires you as a teacher? Flat earth society? Yap yap yap, dog. Clearly he is just asking you to explain your point further. You must be an engineer with such inept communication skills. I'd go with a one-trick pony over a dog, since he relies so heavily on the teacher digs. I mean, who can blame him? Clearly my identity as a teacher is tied heavily to my interactions on a video game forum, and every time he mentions it, it shakes my confidence to its very core. I guess we can all just ignore Sharp's idea that Trump supporters are all willing to sacrifice personal health care for a vague notion of "the greater good".
  10. Maybe they look further than the end of their noses? What?
  11. There is a PS4 version. The expansion is only available to people on the PC who pre-ordered at this point, although I think it releases fully in two weeks. It's fun sneaking around Slaver's houses and stealing stuff, somehow I feel more justified about it that way.
  12. Yeah, that never stopped being a problem for me. I was constantly trying to get more scrap metal. Towards the end I got better at choosing to run away when I had the option.
  13. ESO: Morrowind is fantastic. They definitely nailed the vibe of the old game.
  14. That's not a real thing though. Just because a bunch of twitter wierdos tweet and some blog complains about it, doesn't make it an actual movement. This article is actually spreading the dumbness by bothering to react to it.
  15. Well said.
  16. Well, the guy was born in Britain. His parents were immigrants, so you'd need to roll back to 20-30 years ago to actually make that argument work. How many of these attacks have been aided or abetted by the recent influx of refugees at this point?
  17. It's mostly just the standard Muslims! scream and blaming the media and government for not jumping immediately to that conclusion. Which of course the obvious odds are this is the act of Muslim extremism. But that is basically the point of a terrorist attack, right? Ratchet up tension, try and justify a misguided holy war? I don't think it was about Arianna Grande's music.
  18. Tragic. It sounds like the story is still developing, but there are casualties. I recommend not reading the comments section on that article. Ugh.
  19. My 10-year old daughter is a fan of Elvis.
  20. Yeah, that's the thing, you can buy a couple PC's for the same price as a Mac, so reliability is a bit of a wash. Plus Macs tend to lack backwards compatibility, so even if it lasts for 4-5 years, you will either need to upgrade the OS or get left behind.
  21. I always thought the entire point of community colleges is that they are as close to free as possible. Of course, here in the super expensive Bay Area, that isn't the reality.
  22. I'd say it's more like saying books are better after the printing press, maybe? I'm not sure I like the analogy enough to go further. Books became more widespread, and with it attention was brought to great authors and new ideas. You can say that has happened to video games today as well, given that the graphics and gameplay has advanced and a much larger audience is available. But in both cases, there were plenty examples of excellence before the technology blossomed. *shrug*
  23. That was crazy. I was watching it in the background and they were down by 20, and suddenly it got real.
  24. Was there a point to that post other than the conceited disdain? I suppose I will never know, it is beyond me!
  25. I don't know why anyone has hopes for the South Park game. They basically said "The first one was great, but we want to save a bunch of money on the sequel so we are going with an entirely different team." This is kind of what happened with the new Mass Effect, now that I think on it.
