Sadly I'd say that is not unique to Islam, but is rather common in many positions of power.

What Book(s) or Author would like to be turned into a game?
Hurlshort replied to EbonyBetty's topic in Computer and Console
There are no playable wizards in LotRO. You have runekeepers who are more like tricksters and scholars. Even the healers are minstrels and instead use music to raise morale, which is the LotRO version of health.- 64 replies

Woke up early and started my new Xcom 2 run with War of the Chosen. It is already off to a great start, and I was able to bond a couple soldiers and great some spiffy propaganda posters for them.

as i said, my grandfather lived for years in the middle east when he was young and he read it because it was necessary for living without getting into trouble due to ignorance. he still has a copy written in arabic and most of what i know is from my discussions with him on the subject. some of what i say is what my grandfather said to me about islam and some are educated guesses based on what i know. fact 1: islam teaches that there is no free will, allah decides everything so your actions are by his will (the description of it is more extensive and detailed with exceptions and examples but that's the general rule) fact 2: studies show that taking any action without feeling the pressure of having to take responsibility for it, removes most if not all inhibitions. deduction: Muhammad had an understanding of human psychology and how to use it to manipulate the minds of his followers. Thank you for sharing where your perspective comes from. I'd challenge your facts. They are really more interpretations and opinions.

Huh, well as I said, it changes the game rather dramatically.

I assume Malcolm was too incendiary?

Today I subbed for a Special Education PE class. I felt pretty useless. People who do that as a career are just amazing.

Your Gender/Sex IN VIDEO GAMES, and does it matter to you?

This poll makes no sense to me. -
Did they do that with the original? Regardless, this is the only actual expansion, the other DLC is just minor missions and slight changes. This changes the entire campaign, much like Enemy Within did (rumor is even more so.) Also I wouldn't play the game with the expansion the first time. It will totally change the experience.

There really isn't any difference between Texas and California. For every dumb nanny state law CA has, I can point to a dumb one in Texas as well.

Yeah, but they don't know they are half brother and sister. And Jamie and Cersei may not be the good guys, but they aren't generic baddies either.

We really just cover the basics of religions in 7th grade, and it is focused more on history and regular practices than any in depth analysis. At the end of the day, my expertise is education, not religious studies.

GoT is pretty dang heavy on the incest. That being said, it was a fantastic season finale, maybe the best yet. I'm excited to see how they end the show. That Ice Dragon is just unfair.

Xcom 2 Xpac comes out tomorrow, War of the Chosen. It looks fantastic.

Was that for Teknoman? I haven't. I have an English copy and I've read some parts of it, but it's pretty thick. Of course, I wouldn't claim to have read the bible, either. I grew up reading passages out of it and have probably covered all of the NT at some point or another, but I've never really sat down and studied it from page to page as an adult. I've read a fair share of religious history books, but I'd never call myself an expert on theology. A hobbyist at best. That's why I was curious about Teknoman's education on the matter.

I reached level 93 in Lord of the Rings Online and I'm still busy saving the people of Rohan. This place is huge, but there have been a lot of solid quests and storylines along the way. I'm still not a fan of mounted combat, but I've become a bit better at it. It's almost like a dogfighting game (Red Baron style, not Michael Vick style.) My captain is pretty close to moving on to Gondor, and then I can walk through the gates of Mordor. Or something like that. edit: Oh, and my house is looking amazing with all the stuff I've collected over the years.

Teknoman, are you a student of Islamic studies? You just seems to have a lot of information on the subject and seem pretty confident about its accuracy. I would certainly not consider myself an expert in this stuff.

Yeah, but juiced balls.

No, but the comparison doesn't really work because they are completely different games. I wouldn't even put them in the same genre. The original was very much a shooter, albeit a creative one for its time. The new one is much more of an action RPG.

With talk like this, I really don't get why there is so much tension between the Islamic and Western world. We are building strong bridges with a foundation of understanding here.
-
Of course, the comparison would work better if the Digital Arts Center voted as a board to move the statue, and then a bunch of Ewoks marched in protest. edit: Yeah, I am saying Ewoks are racist. They live in the forest and were ready to kill everyone until Threepio showed up.

You can go here and look at the actual statistics for Harvard: https://college.harvard.edu/admissions/admissions-statistics I'd say you are simplifying a rather complex issue, but as I said, I'd agree Affirmative Action is problematic. Hence my statement: You can find a metric ton of information on the Racial Achievement gap in this country. The numbers aren't pretty and there is no simple way to narrow that gap. As much as I sympathize with the Harvard situation (my students are in that demo) it is nowhere near as tragic as the educational disparities we have across this country.

Hmm, maybe you are right: https://www.nytimes.com/2016/03/28/world/europe/mystery-about-who-will-become-a-terrorist-defies-clear-answers.html?mcubz=0 That still doesn't mean I agree you can paint 1.8 billion people with the same brush, however.

It's pretty interesting looking at the other companies on that list. Motel 6 is a -15 and Super 8 is a +4, so I guess I know which one to stay at if I need a cheap room. Bit surprised Amazon Prime is so low, I get a ton out of that service and it has always been easy.

Agreed, neither party really cares about the individual. edit: Didn't even remember this is the funny things thread after reading it. We need to get away from the politics in here.
