  1. After many years of using terrible desks, some with loose electrical wiring and jagged edges, I am getting a chance to order new furniture for my classroom. I'm torn between a couple options so I figured I'd bug you guys about it. I would really like to get some furniture that students can stand at. I hate sitting for long stretches and I know it isn't easy on middle schoolers. It would look like this: My concern here is that they seem like than can break pretty easily. Given my current furniture is older than me, I don't know when I will ever get replacements. They are also pricey, so I don't know if I can get the funding. They come with nice chairs though. My other thinking is something that is easy to move and can connect together well. I move my furniture somewhat regularly depending on whether we are doing group work, tests, etc. https://a248.e.akamai.net/f/248/9086/10h/origin-d5.scene7.com/is/image/KLog/MAD-60W_1 They connect together well and look durable. They also are about half the price. Anyone have any thoughts? Should I go revolutionary or traditional?
  2. The President is a bit of an oddball...
  3. I think you are overthinking the gun fu movie. I mean, you can also wonder why people only have kevlar suits when it fits the plot, but that would be silly.
  4. John Wick 2 - it was a ton of fun, can't wait for the 3rd.
  5. Crazy that he did something similar for the Giant's in 2010. Some guys are just clutch.
  6. Where is that Spectre1 guy? We've got a cheerleader story in the news. https://www.yahoo.com/sports/campus-anthem-battle-cheerleaders-vs-sheriff-powerful-lawmaker-232611605.html I think the best line is "Why is a sheriff policing cheerleaders?"
  7. That is surprising. Although the story seems a bit vague, it may have been partly his choice as well after what he said about family.
  8. It's clearly India. Hmm, my parents never really talked about the starving kids in India when I wouldn't eat my vegetables for dinner, so I don't believe you. http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/AppealToWorseProblems
  9. I was on the edge of my seat for the last hour. Crazy game.
  10. They aren't destroying the Civil War memorials though, they were moving them. I believe a number of them were going to museums.
  11. Monuments typically honor an event or a person. While I'm certainly not opposed to monuments to slavery in the US, I can see why there are small ones scattered across the country instead of a massive one in one place. In a lot of ways I consider it more powerful to have a specific monument to Mount Vernon slavery on the site where it existed.
  12. Both the Smithsonian and the Civil Rights Museum have sections devoted to slavery.
  13. Crazy how quick people are to label those that criticize Trump as fake Republicans, considering Trump's history with the democratic party.
  14. I remember when I bought Megadeths album, my mom freaked out. I had to argue with her about how most of the songs are about the environment and geo political issuesin order to get her off my back.
  15. That's too bad, it was a pretty good system. Much better than that Disney one and pretty close to the Skylanders experience.
  16. The occasional troll is good for the soul.
  17. Not really. There is way more complaining about trigger warnings here than anyone requesting trigger warnings. Actually I can't think of a single poster who is actively advocating for trigger warnings. Find me a post where someone is like "Guys we need more trigger warnings!" Instead you have people complaining about the warnings existing, and other posters defending their existence. Very different things. They are really only brought up on these forums by people who think they are dumb. It shouldn't be a surprise that others will disagree.
  18. Last night my fitbit charge HR broke. I've been using it for about 3 years and I get a lot out of it, I track my runs, heart rate, and sleep. It has given me some good data, but it also has had some problems syncing, so I decided to upgrade. I shopped around for something that would fill all my health tracking needs and by a bit smarter, and settled on the Samsung Gear Fit2 Pro. I figured it would work well with my Galaxy S8 phone, and I was not disappointed. The coolest thing so far was finding a Fallout Pip Boy theme. I'm in geek heaven.
  19. That's a pretty good point. Those nut allergy kids drive me...um...nuts. My kid's school is always sending home flyers asking us not to send anything with nuts for lunch. My kid lives off peanut butter sandwiches, how about you just make sure your fragile kid stays away from mine at lunch?
  20. I knew the Astros were a good offensive team, but their defense has been something to watch.
  21. Hah, I thought that Peugeot product placement was a bit crazy. That's the car of the future?
  22. Santa Cruz is filled with crazy liberals, news at 11.
  23. I feel like I'm betraying people here, but I decided to refund Elex. First off, I probably shouldn't have bought it given the fact I have way too many games going right now. But I was also a bit surprised how rough the controls were. The world felt a bit slippery, and the combat was not great. Then you also have some pretty bad dialogue. I can get past all that, but I think I'd rather do so with a sale price instead of $50.
  24. Elex seems easier with a controller. Also the dialogue is terribad. But so far it's got some pretty cool stuff, definitely gives me the vibe I got when I played Risen for the first time.
