  1. Huh, I had a few friends who were into that stuff in High School. It seemed pretty powerful, they would basically just go run through the forest for a few hours. I'd be pretty hesitant to vote for it without more information.
  2. I've been reading up on the Patriot Prayer group and Joey Gibson. Talk about a crazy story, this guy seems to be doing everything he can to distance himself from white supremacists and denounce racists, and he is still getting attacked. http://www.mercurynews.com/2017/08/23/whos-behind-this-weekends-right-wing-rally-at-crissy-field/ Hopefully all this stuff dies down a bit soon so we can start having actual dialogue.
  3. What is the difference between these chaps and the Black Bloc protesters? It seems to me that Antifa is kind of like Alt-Right, in that there are numerous groups that claim to be a part of it, some much worse than others. It also seems rather disorganized.
  4. Damnit, I'm super jealous of that state income tax rate.
  5. Would fixing the electoral college system even change the results of the last election? It just sounds like a way to make people in more populated states even more marginalized when it comes to the Federal election. Of course, us in California can take solace in the fact that we have better wine, food, and weather than everyone else. Oh, and Yosemite.
  6. My medic panics when people around her panic. Kind of defeats the purpose of a medic.
  7. These crippling traits are rough. My squad has major psychiatric problems.
  8. There is an Xcom Novel? Is it good? It doesn't seem to be available on my kindle.
  9. Sadly I'd say that is not unique to Islam, but is rather common in many positions of power.
  10. There are no playable wizards in LotRO. You have runekeepers who are more like tricksters and scholars. Even the healers are minstrels and instead use music to raise morale, which is the LotRO version of health.
  11. Woke up early and started my new Xcom 2 run with War of the Chosen. It is already off to a great start, and I was able to bond a couple soldiers and great some spiffy propaganda posters for them.
  12. as i said, my grandfather lived for years in the middle east when he was young and he read it because it was necessary for living without getting into trouble due to ignorance. he still has a copy written in arabic and most of what i know is from my discussions with him on the subject. some of what i say is what my grandfather said to me about islam and some are educated guesses based on what i know. fact 1: islam teaches that there is no free will, allah decides everything so your actions are by his will (the description of it is more extensive and detailed with exceptions and examples but that's the general rule) fact 2: studies show that taking any action without feeling the pressure of having to take responsibility for it, removes most if not all inhibitions. deduction: Muhammad had an understanding of human psychology and how to use it to manipulate the minds of his followers. Thank you for sharing where your perspective comes from. I'd challenge your facts. They are really more interpretations and opinions.
  13. Huh, well as I said, it changes the game rather dramatically.
  14. I assume Malcolm was too incendiary?
  15. Today I subbed for a Special Education PE class. I felt pretty useless. People who do that as a career are just amazing.
  16. This poll makes no sense to me.
  17. Did they do that with the original? Regardless, this is the only actual expansion, the other DLC is just minor missions and slight changes. This changes the entire campaign, much like Enemy Within did (rumor is even more so.) Also I wouldn't play the game with the expansion the first time. It will totally change the experience.
  18. There really isn't any difference between Texas and California. For every dumb nanny state law CA has, I can point to a dumb one in Texas as well.
  19. Yeah, but they don't know they are half brother and sister. And Jamie and Cersei may not be the good guys, but they aren't generic baddies either.
  20. We really just cover the basics of religions in 7th grade, and it is focused more on history and regular practices than any in depth analysis. At the end of the day, my expertise is education, not religious studies.
  21. GoT is pretty dang heavy on the incest. That being said, it was a fantastic season finale, maybe the best yet. I'm excited to see how they end the show. That Ice Dragon is just unfair.
  22. Xcom 2 Xpac comes out tomorrow, War of the Chosen. It looks fantastic.
  23. Was that for Teknoman? I haven't. I have an English copy and I've read some parts of it, but it's pretty thick. Of course, I wouldn't claim to have read the bible, either. I grew up reading passages out of it and have probably covered all of the NT at some point or another, but I've never really sat down and studied it from page to page as an adult. I've read a fair share of religious history books, but I'd never call myself an expert on theology. A hobbyist at best. That's why I was curious about Teknoman's education on the matter.
  24. I reached level 93 in Lord of the Rings Online and I'm still busy saving the people of Rohan. This place is huge, but there have been a lot of solid quests and storylines along the way. I'm still not a fan of mounted combat, but I've become a bit better at it. It's almost like a dogfighting game (Red Baron style, not Michael Vick style.) My captain is pretty close to moving on to Gondor, and then I can walk through the gates of Mordor. Or something like that. edit: Oh, and my house is looking amazing with all the stuff I've collected over the years.
  25. Teknoman, are you a student of Islamic studies? You just seems to have a lot of information on the subject and seem pretty confident about its accuracy. I would certainly not consider myself an expert in this stuff.
