  1. Yeah I watch a lot of really local scandinavian films...
  2. Only the point that they were actively going after people setting up servers though, because I don't think a company should be forced to provide service indefinitely - but they should stay the hell away from what customers do that isn't illegal.
  3. I generally hate the word "entitled", but I think it applies here.. I mean, come on - sure it sucks, but to say that they are the moral equivalent of super villains for cancelling a game that he thinks we gamers deserve? well...
  4. Pretty funny seeing the guys playing Trevor, Michael and Franklin - looking and sounding the part. It's from 2013, sp you console guys have probably seen it.
  5. Not yet, but it's on the list - purple hair is studying Film and Media, so she has to see all the classic movies, which gives me a perfect opportunity to do so as well. And it's all in the name of supporting your girlfriends education, awesome
  6. The Maltese Falcon, a good flick - never really seen much of Bogart's work, but I definitely see what the fuss is about.
  7. I might give it a go after the GOTY, the overall aesthetics have really put me off so far - and that update looks pretty good. Gorth was nice enough to gift me a copy for the missus, who loved it dearly - so I really do have to get to it.
  8. oh wow, I played that sooo much back in the day.. But didn't they do like a sequel remake in 2008?
  9. "Is The Man Who Is Tall Happy", Michel Gondry interview Chomsky - It's a somewhat self indulgent piece of art trying as much to get it's points across through the media, as it has to since it's about language and understanding, but I did like it.. Especially when Chomsky makes a point on how physical representation is not how we perceive the world, but rather through psychological continuity.
  10. There are some pretty good mods out there, trying to continue the story - but yeah .. I've never really felt that sense of scale in any other game and the feeling of being pushed back, fighting against a superior foe, losing more than winning.. great series.
  11. Exactly there have been cases with developers taking on modders (like with Project Zomboid) and actually taking them onboard as freelancers, paying them to develop their mod into the game itself. So do that, make especially good mods approved by the devs and become a sort of dlc, released by Bethsda, who pays the modder - while I would personally not endorse that by using it, it would be an official Bethesda product and the modder would get paid.. solves some of the most glaring issues.
  12. In my opinion it's much better than avengers 1. Here's why: 1: Less arguing and more fighting. Super Hero movies are not smart. I don't want to choke down like forty straight minuets of bad exposition. I just want to see guys with powers beat people up; Avengers 2 get's this, and has more action through out to keep me entertained. 2: While the plot isn't "good" (not that a super hero movie even really needs one), it is still better than the story of the first one. 3: The fights with Ultron are waaay better than the fight(s?) with Loki (if you even consider the Hulk slamming Loki over and over a fight). I think avengers 1 is a 3/5, and avengers 2 is a 4/5. Given this analysis, how would you rate Watchmen? It should pretty much be the worst superhero movie ever heh
  13. Yeah I second that - it's actually really fun, the split narrative helps a lot and means you can focus on the guy you like the most. Plus the whole Heist mechanic is awesome. A much much better game than IV. Also down to play some crazy coop.
  14. I don't think it'll happen that fast - but I do see a lot of anti growth paradigm movements and shifts in consumer thinking here - and a focus on the communal rather than national though, so it's definitely in the works.
  15. And that's really also a big issue - I mean Skyrim's modding scene got famous precisely because people downloaded the mods like crazy, if you had to pay 3 dollars a pop.. You'd never download more than 4, how is that encouraging the model?
  16. My only issue with the game was the protagonist, he was so annoying heh.
  17. That's a point not many modders would want to hear though, that their products (and thereby time spend) is essentially worthless. But it is however the truth for the vast majority of mods. I mean sure, 25c or something I could live with that. Getting a 100 or so mods for 5$ seems about right for their worth. And then paying ~5$ for the one or 2 actually well made, well thought out and well executed mods, with support and thought behind it. If they want to make money off creative content they should publish games on the Google Play or iMarket (or whatever it's called).. People charge 5$ for next to nothing there and get away with it. And I say this as someone who has modded and spend a month or so on a medium sized one I made.. But I also know that it's worthless, it was done for my own fun and it was..
  18. Of course not, but for people without a proper education - and even one as simple as a good upbringing - can have a real hard time navigating civil liberties. They'll default to what they see around them, hopelessness... and that's why they are so easily riled to what we see as improper action, they need agency (how very eurocentric I know), unfortunately that agency often comes in groupthink violence. edit: For anecdotal advice, I didn't grow up in an academic family and have had a hard time adjusting to university - the culture is just very different. I can only imagine how that must feel coming from a ghetto.
  19. You're not alone, more than half the players on Steam haven't finished Act 1. I found it hard to continue from the middle of Act 2 for various reasons (which I won't go into) but slowly trudging my way through Act 3. I'm finding the side quests more enjoyable than the main story.. It's strange that all games seem to suffer from this - the vast majority of bought games are not really played. I've seen big hugely popular title, where only around 30% had even done the first mission. Wonky... To the OP, that's unfortunate - but I would personally roll with it and say that my character got duped into doing something he didn't want to and try to exact revenge on a later date (you can).
  20. Frustration and group think is always irrational. Nothing new there.. Martin Luther said it best. "Now I wanted to say something about the fact that we have lived over these last two or three summers with agony and we have seen our cities going up in flames. And I would be the first to say that I am still committed to militant, powerful, massive, non-violence as the most potent weapon in grappling with the problem from a direct action point of view. I’m absolutely convinced that a riot merely intensifies the fears of the white community while relieving the guilt. And I feel that we must always work with an effective, powerful weapon and method that brings about tangible results. But it is not enough for me to stand before you tonight and condemn riots. It would be morally irresponsible for me to do that without, at the same time, condemning the contingent, intolerable conditions that exist in our society. These conditions are the things that cause individuals to feel that they have no other alternative than to engage in violent rebellions to get attention. And I must say tonight that a riot is the language of the unheard. And what is it America has failed to hear? It has failed to hear that the plight of the negro poor has worsened over the last twelve or fifteen years. It has failed to hear that the promises of freedom and justice have not been met. And it has failed to hear that large segments of white society are more concerned about tranquility and the status quo than about justice and humanity."
  21. I agree, it's often a case of infinite regress once you try to assert "true" cause, but for the simplicity of a message board it often helps to be generalizing. I do still believe that the most viable solution to the present problem is education, healthcare, outreach programs and a general focus on the rest of society, to get them to combat poverty in any way they can.
  22. The root cause is poverty, which happens to be a cultural and historical problem for minorities. Poor people are far more likely to get in trouble with the law (and therefore get shot by the police) - and unfortunately there's a large majority of black people living in poverty.. Further compounding the issue is, that as police officers experience black people more often in criminal confrontations build conformation bias - building racism - which of course means they are more likely to assume that black people are criminals, even though that poverty is the issue and not race.. But you don't really see poverty as clearly as the colour of someones skin. If we combat the underlying issue, with better and more accessible education, healthcare and integration - we also combat racism.
  23. They probably pay them in $team Wallet Dollars too, so they can loop the profits back in to futher profits.
  24. Made me chuckle.
  25. We might be, hopefully though - this pushes people to actually start flipping out from being mistreated. I was pro Steam, but they certainly proved how well they handled that vote of confidence. Guess that really does prove decentralization is always the way to go. I'll be trying to aviod that service as much as possible in the future and spread out my gaming portfolio. It was fun while it lasted though and for a while it really looked like Valve were the good guys and had figured out how to actually benefit the customer and still make a pretty buck... Without getting too greedy. That certainly changed.. Or perhaps rather, they showed themselves to be what most of you guys always knew .. You are older and wiser after all
