  1. I'll just merge those triple posts for you and conclude that you watch too many films!
  2. I was proposing raising the wage to a point where the employee had to pay taxes, but that extra earning goes to the goverment instead. So the employee would not feel a difference, but the goverment would. Problem here is that, given your current models, it would hurt small businesses way too much.
  3. I'm not sure I understand what you mean.. do you mean selling games as a kind of share in the company? I've seen some companies battle piracy in interesting ways, the best of course is making a killer game that people want badly from the day it's out. An interesting option would be to allow buyers to set the price they want, like Radiohead did with their latest album. Of course this could be a very costly experiment and seeing as bands make most of their money going on tour and game developers don't, it's probably too risky. Piracy is probably a bigger problem for the big developers/publishers who spend 3-5+ years developting a title and millions on commericals. While smaller developers can actually experience a higher revenue because of Piracy, since it works as a kind of "free" PR machine causing the product to be more exposed and therefore increasing sales - this only works for good titles though. Like we saw with the film "A man from Earth": link
  4. They do and hopefully he's up for the task .. it would be nice for one of the world's most powerful men to set a good example for once.
  5. The minimum wage is there to make sure people aren't screwed over by their employees, precisely because of cheap illegal labour.. removing the minimum wage would seriously hurt the people who have to work in those low paying jobs, unless you give them tax cuts, as you say.. But that's the best case scenario, most likely big companies would drive the wages down and try to get around paying their own taxes through various loopholes, it's easier to tax the companies by making sure you have a high minimum wage and then tax the people working. that way the employees aren't affected, but the companies can't get around paying their taxes.
  6. This thread had already gone far off-topic, but most seem to find the immigration angle interesting. The psycho analysis of certain members is however not interesting.
  7. Yeah that seems a little too political.. Obama may deserve it at some point, but not yet..
  8. Saw Batman Begins again and after player Arkham Asylum I suddenly got all the references throughout the film..
  9. I doubt that would work.. The land battles of SW weren't really that orderly. A Homeworld'ish SW game would be awesome though. As for me, I would really like K3 as well, or at least an RPG set in the Old Republic era.. A giant multiplayer RTS, coupled with realtime FPS would be cool too - some direct the large battle, others play out the individual soldiers. Kinda like a mix between Empire at War and Battlefront .. only good..
  10. It would be even more interesting to see how much money CA is actually making off of this. Because one thing is certain, if they were actually losing 10's of billions of dollars each year they would build a wall the size of China's on their southern border.. it would be cheaper you know.. And if a politician could actually save that much money by doing something that simple I assure you s/he would've been all over it decades ago.
  11. Well it was quite easy back in the day when everyone who bothered were considered legal. I agree with Killian though in the fact that the law is the law and it should be followed. I just think it's sad that people have to live on the fringe of society and that the problem isn't taken care of in a better manner. But just to be clear, I'm not a fan of illegal immigration, we have that too, even though it's practically impossible to do in Denmark unless you have a network of relatives or something similar to help you out. I'm just a advocate of better immigration laws across the board, that also try to help immigrants to smooth the transition into society. At the same time I don't really want to point any fingers either, 'cause we could do a lot better too.
  12. There's no satisfying us customers is there? heh..
  13. Why did I read that in the worst hill-billy accent I could possibly muster? I could just imagine your character kicking back some cold ones and watching the bloody fireworks with a grin on his face.
  14. Also kinda funny how your entire country is build around mass immigration and how you, as one of the only countries in the world, has managed to make that something extremely positive. Something I would be very proud of if I was american. It's kinda sad to see that the 10th+ generation of immigrants won't allow others to do what their ancestors did.
  15. Yes it's fairly easy to have a battle with 8,000-10,000 troops on the ultra setting. But I still can't wait for the TW series to bring me those truly epic battles with 40,000+ units.
  16. Well, for one I thought of the redemption angle, which is pretty clich
  17. I didn't really find BI that interesting.. mostly 2 huge factions against hordes of barbarians, it's too easy which ever faction you choose. Medieval II/Kingdom is an interesting game, imo is better than Rome in most aspects, but all in all it's quite similar. There's a good deal of great mods for MTW2 though, I especially recommend the Grand Campaign. Which adds all the features and factions from the Kingdoms expansion into the vanilla campaign.
  18. It's really beautiful, but I didn't find the story that interesting. It's very similar to the director's previous film "The Cell" in terms of visual flamboyance and lack of coherent plot. But despite of that it's a film that's worth seeing for the visuals alone.
  19. Technically not my game, but a friend of mine send me this screenshot..
  20. That's a very interesting idea Walsh, my players' characters are no more than 100 years old though, so it wouldn't work exactly like that.. but it gave me a few ideas!
  21. Playing some Batman Arkham Asylum, it's pretty sweet! There are some annoying sections, but compared to the overall awesomeness it's quite forgiveable.. Also playing some MTW2 with the LOTR mod, very cool as well.
  22. Cool video man.. I've wanted to do that race ever since I first heard about it some years ago! I've done the Rickshaw Run (sister event in India), but the Mongol Rally is said to be crazy beyond belief.
  23. Hey, can we stay on-topic please! ...
  24. I was at a really interesting lecture/seminar on this last year actually. The guy said that the prevailing theory amongst many scientist today was that the concept of Dark Energy, Dark Matter and Gravity were kinda place-holders for some universal law/concept that hadn't been found yet. Because, while Dark Matter/Energy explains the expansion of the universe it is pretty unlikely that the universe is filled with a soup of material (much like the 19th century Ether theory) that light and material can pass through and which only really affects matter in an anti-gravitational way. He and his colleagues were exploring what this force could be and how it could both work as gravity and anti-gravity.
