^That's true. I had crazy amounts of fun with my semi-noob friends in my noob days before I worried about tournament decks etc. :D

How many of you play it? I've been in and out of it since I started with Prophecy. I suppose I'm in it for the creativity and fun/style combos and for laughs. A year or two after I started playing I was lucky enough to learn to be a better than average player under the "tutelage" of a serious player/trader. Very recently I dl'd the spoilers for the Kamigawa set after about a year or two out because I didn't have the time/cash to continuously invest into the game.

I haven't thought about my fav, but coffee's nice.

Well, Mandalore's not in his party so something's not right either way.

TSL Restoration Project: Work in Progress
Atreides replied to Aurora's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
It would be a rather loose definition of an "expansion pack" if they're restoring/splicing in things into the original story in addition to (?) new material. Not that I'm complaining though -
Blue pair of nike airs that I wear for everything except outdoor soccer. I watch where I step so they're relatively clean but I also play indoor with them so I guess they could be in better shape.

Personally, I don't know what I would do. Probably that splitsecond I have when the bomber rushes past is what I'd have to consider all the questions in life - what I hold important, whether it's worth protecting that or others, weighing up how dangerous it is. That probably would lead to inaction where the bomber would be pretty far away. By thinking in advance about it and coming to some sort of decision, that might cut down on the indecision and spur an immediate response. While it's okay to think of self preservation, or what's more important to me - the wellbeing of those important to me and how they'd manage without me (possibly), the thought that I could have prevented a large number of people from dying later on would weigh heavily on my consciousness for a long time.

Well, back on topic the terrorists shot themselves in nuts because they've sent out inconsistant messages by attacking Egypt. Now they (terrorists or others) can't say it's all about Iraq (or Afghanistan/Palestine/War against terror etc if Iraq didn't "happen") since Egypt didn't take part. However, I'm sure they (terrorists or others) will try to tack blame onto the West.

From the 2nd London (attempted) bombing, there were people that tried to chase down the culprits and news of some police subduing a bomber (apparently loaded with explosives) before shooting him. The latter in particular seems pretty brave given you're basically meleeing someone that could blow up. Both acts are actually pretty brave since you're trying to stop the bombers but potentially putting yourself in lethal danger. How does the police in general determine if someone's packing explosives and what's the usual way to stop him/her? Would you "chase down" a suspected bomber?

Looks like Egypt's had some explosions too, sigh.

KOTOR II Character and Voice Talent Appreciation
Atreides replied to Royal_Nonesuch's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I was surprised when I saw Kelly Hu among the VO's. -
News is reporting that the detonators were indeed intended to set off explosives which didn't go off. London's very lucky. However, in these cases I wish we didn't have to depend on luck.

Fionavar can be fast on the draw which can be unfortunate if the topic was good but got sidetracked. A post telling people to keep on topic might nudge things back on and keep things going.

Well, he didn't say "I'm Neil Gaiman" but his movie thingy pronounced it Gayman so I suppose they got it right.

So...Anyone else finish Malachor V as Mira

I opened the smuggling bulkheads and found a stowaway Bastila. -
Nope. I might if I get the chance but it's probably going to be hard to visualise. Better to just watch the movie.
-
That's possible. You can only watch so much till your brain melts. Not sure if the fact that it's only 80 mins is good or bad.

Here's the conclusion if you're interested: Well, came back from his presentation. He started off with a video presentation of the trailer for Mirrormask (his graphical novel adapted to film), a few bluescreen comparisons (acting vs final cut) and some Q&A for the Mirrormask extras. He wrapped up the Mirrormask part by commenting on his experience working with the art-director dude on his book and movie then finally a synopsis of the story. Basically it's about a wantaway circus girl who dreams about a world (actually 2) on the verge of collapse that needs patching up. From the film, it's got a kafka look to it. Weird with lots of artsy things and colours. For example in one of the scenes someone explains the concept to the protagonist by dropping a small red cube on the floor which expands, out pops a puppet trumpet band. 2D cities pop up with some puppets while he tells the story etc. There's anohter scene where the girl gets a black-goth makeover from mechanical girl-puppets that are sing. He answered some questions about what he was doing and some of his projects from the host of the session. Anyway he read 2-3 pages of a yet to be published novel (quite interesting), a Q&A session followed by the book signings. Didn't get my Sandman material out in the end. Mostly a book thing, not just Mirrormask though (AUD40 for hardcover on sale outside the convention, AUD18 for other paperback novels).

TSL Restoration Project: Work in Progress

None have responded I'd suggest not to worry about VOs. I'd be very happy with just text and I'm sure others might feel the same way. -
By the way, if you liked Hellsing you might want to check out Blood Trinity which is about vampire clans etc. It's still being showed in Japan so it's ultra brand new. To some degree I don't know if the quality of the new stuff has spoiled me. I don't know if I'd still be as appreciative of really old stuff.
-
I liked Fushigi Yuugi too. It has good inter-character relationships and is quite funny. It does get draggy though when they keep harping on the girls etc.
-
It really depends what you like. Action? Comedy? Do you mind old stuff? You get props btw for realising Dragonball Z's crappy. Here's a useful site for getting an idea what the anime descriptions www.animenfo.com Naruto - worth watching though it can be draggy in parts. It's mostly about Naruto (kid) growing up in a ninja society with ninja techniques etc with mixed action and comedy. Has its moments during fight scenes, some comedy moments and especially when it can evoke emotion when you feel Naruto's determination. Scryed - semi-post apocalyptic (no nukes though, natural event). Lots of action and worth watching. Animation's nice - watch it if it's in front of you. Kenshin - recommended. Samurai flick about guy wanting to give up killing to do good etc. Inuyasha - haven't watched but it looks old in terms of animation. Cowboy Bebop - recommended. It's a little old but still good. Mostly modern bounty hunter stuff. Escaflowne - didn't watch the series so I can't say. Movie was interesting. Trigun - another "classic" leaning towards the old side. Comedy action. Not sure on this one - watch it if it falls in your lap. Stuff I personally recommend in rough order (mostly new stuff): Samurai Champloo - highly recommended. Old skool samurai with a hip hop/modern life theme. Full Metal Alchemist - story with alchemy transmutation etc. Gankutsuou (sp?) - Not many people know this one. New stylish/psychadelic take on Count of Monte Cristo. Art's groundbreaking in my book. Last Exile - flying epic with wars between factions etc. Samurai 7 - new take on an old story. Mixes samurai stuff with some technology. That's putting it very lightly. I admit mecha doesn't do anything for me (positive or negative) so most of the story's about the screwed up relationships between the characters - mostly from the perspective of the much (personally) loathed Shinji (ie coining the phrase "Shinji moment"). Watch it if you like "dunno wtf happened so it's whatever you want it to be" kind of ending.
