For some reason, there are characters that are more memorable than others. Not just in KOTOR of course but in other games too. Most people would agree that HK-47 and Jolee Bindo are exceptional in KOTOR1. I'm not entirely convinced that the KOTOR2 cast manages to reach that level, though that's hardly saying that they're lousy. Quite the opposite - it's quite an achievement bringing T3-M4 up to the level that I like it now :"> Why's that? Of course devs will always try for the best (dev input welcome!). One of the reasons I can think of is that the more time you spend with them (playing through in party, not just chatting), the more chance they have to give in-game responses etc that flesh them out. Character combo-banter responding to situations also is a big plus which might be the saving grace of Ordo-Carth. There didn't seem to be as much in KOTOR2 in that respect. That brings me to wonder if fewer characters with deeper development are better than many with less spread out. For example I think nobody bothered including T3-M4 in KOTOR1 or much with GOTO, maybe Hanharr in their adventuring party. Could/should they have been cut? Or maybe devs should decide who players are most likely to pick and concentrate on them which would include other chars for story purposes (detached group missions might bring the best out of them). Thoughts?

Why would Palpatine display weakness before Anakin's even near and zap Windu in front of Anakin since it would be counterproductive to his defenceless theme?

As for your question. There is none. But don't go pulling a creationist trick of claiming lack of proof for my point is support for your point. Just as there's no actual, concrete proof for Palpatine faking the fight, there is zerio proof that he isn't faking the fight. It is actually better this way as it would be stupid it was stated in the book that 'Palpatine has truly met his match....had he not summoned all of his skill, he would have died...he clearly is not faking it in this fight' or something similar. Exactly. There is no conclusive proof either way, therefore a statement like "What proof is/isn't there" by itself will not add weight to a perspective because the other perspective could pull the same statement which introduces doubt using the same logic. Read above. There is none either way and it is not a valid way of illustrating a point either way.

In the movie, here is the sequence of events: -Palpatine kills 2 deadbeat Jedi and fights with Windu -They fight near smashed window -Windu facekicks Palpatine who drops his saber out of the window -Palpatine scuttles to the edge of the window because he's disarmed -ANAKIN PHYSICALLY ENTERS ROOM -Palpatine + Windu speech -Palpatine zaps Windu -etc Anakin is "called" by Palpatine before the confrontation. Not sure on the timing of when he arrives outside the building.

The FAQ mentions that they'll try to add what they can of the original stuff (I think that includes the Jedi training + romances?) but it's not explicitely mentioned like the stuff on the main page so I'm not too sure. Here's hoping though

Of course definitions of what's acceptable/good/bad change across cultures. This is observable today - sometimes painfully so where things go on that shouldn't be because they've been ingrained into a culture/society for a very long time. Does that mean that I'll accept it? No.

Palpatine sk00led those two because they looked stoned - slow/no reaction rather than Palpatine being superb or anything.

Btw, just my 2 cents: Don't worry about sound files if the dialogue doesn't have it. I'd personally have a wider dialogue option withou the sound files than vice versa. It might make it easier editing the dialogue trees if you don't worry about what sound files are available too. Edit: Btw, are you guy restoring your Padawan training scenes and romance stuff?

Looks like Windu's winning in the poll. Windu's the frickin uber guardian mofo while Yoda's more force adept. They specialise in different things, which doesn't mean that they're weak - it means they may surpass each other in different things. Same thing with Palpatine - he strikes me more as a Sith Lord/force user than a Maurauder. That's why it's more than conceivable that he'd lose to Windu in a saber fight alone. Let's start with what we know - Palpatine called out to Anakin. He's either planning things or knows he needs backup. Probably both. If Palpatine planned to throw the fight, he "lost" his saber before Anakin was anywhere close and does a very good job scuttling to the window edge and freaking out for Mace's benefit before Anakin's even in the room. Anakin enters, and he zaps Windu because he doesn't want to die (Sith ending there and all that) then "plays weak" - lightning reflecting and removing his mask etc. Windu's very close with the saber at that point and is struggling but not about to give up. If anything, he seems to be gaining ground. If Palpatine was playing things, he's cutting things too close to the edge for his own comfort - note his "No. No. NEVER!!" (love that) scene when confronted with the end of the Sith - and he's chucking most of his cards out of the window and seems pretty desperate even before Anakin is there for the benefit of the show.

I'm sure GL read and approved the book before letting it out, so the book cannot be entirely discounted.

Sounds a bit harsh. Even the Masters are constantly aware of the danger of seduction by the Dark Side. Besides, that's the best thing about them when you get to turn them

I think Mace had Palpatine. Palpatine's saber skills looked quite average, or at least not that spectacular although I like his stabbing style. Windu is supposed to be the best fighter among the Jedi and he had Palpatine disarmed and scuttling (genuinely) and cornered before Anakin even arrived. It's entirely possible that Palpatine improvised when he saw Anakin there, but he was on the ropes by that time IMO. As for him gleefully chucking Windu out of the window, it's not that hard when Windu's shocked/handlessless/defenseless/distracted. No. No. NEVER!!1

I'm not sure why but Blizzard's subsequent RTS' haven't been able to reach the emotion that Starcraft's storytelling produced. For some reason even a crappy mission like using Raynor in the Vulcan bike to find people was cool. I genuinely felt panicked counting down the time defending the Terran outpost against unknown aliens. It's probably down partly to the setting and because I wasn't very experienced in RTS at that time. As far as I can tell, Bliz has tried many of the same tricks they pulled in Starcraft but it hasn't managed to achieve that emotion Starcraft did.

It just dawned on me that Vader couldn't use force lightning because of his armour restriction. I shall savour this brief moment of enlightenment.

Maths is cool, though I'm mostly into stats and acsci now. I think teachers should emphasise the real life applications when kids are young beyond counting fruit and pocket change.

Did anybody pick up the Black Hound stuff or the engine from Interplay? Is Interplay even still alive?

Has anybody consistantly won across the different tracks? I can get to within 4 seconds of the best times but that's it What do you get when you win? Any special quests and how do you modify your personal swoop bike?
