I would try and smoke out if it could happen again on a regular basis. It's a shame if a cat can't have a territory to roam. I have a stray that comes to visit every now and then. He checks that everything is still ok under the couch and may deign to accept a plate of tuna and then moves on.

You should try and get a hold of the media or something. Find some way to shame people who do that. if i find out who did it i'll go full John Wick on him but in the end nothing will bring back my cat and its pretty unlikely that anything will make him come out and admit it. if i ever get a new cat, im gonna keep it in the house It's scary though. A lot of people who kill or harm pets are killers in training. There is often a really dark motivation behind it, to state the obvious.

Got a call from 'the company', ostensibly wherever it was that I worked who were in need of my login information a few days ago. Was unable to get him to specify where it was that I worked and where he was calling from. Instead I was put on hold for 'Microsoft support'. Surprisingly they wanted the same thing. I guess the alien concept is this : if my freedom is making people unsafe then maybe I can't have it. Not because I pose a danger, but because we aren't smart enough to know in advance who is going to be. That's not going to be easy to get an individualist to wrap his head around. Also society needs to be safe enough for people not to feel that they must have guns for their protection come what may. Also, it's not surprising at all that membership goes up every time the issue is raised.

The passing of time will do a lot of things. It might take generations, an 'unthinkable' change can also happen a lot faster than one would imagine, but it probably won't be you they will have to deal with so much as your grandkids.

There might come a time when the lastest loss of life from a mass shooting will make all those arguments seem irrelevant. What we are seeing now is the beginning of the marginalisation of the pro gun lobby. The thinking is, I imagine, that since the gun lobby will consider no middle ground because to them it's all a slippery slope, that there is no point in engaging them anymore. You could stop the open trade of certain firearms. whatever people have in their sheds, well, you are never going to find those anyway so it's not worth the effort. People with the desire for a shootout with the federal government, well, there is no need to grant them that request if the same could be achieved with a fine. Maybe an amnesty or fair market value in compensation.

Has anyone voiced support for that? Other than a few of our European folks who just say ban guns altogether. Well, for any of this to be effective you would have to say goodbye to most of your toys. You can still have guns, there are loads of gun owners in europe, but you have to show proof that you have a reason to purchase it. if you want a rifle, you need to produce a hunting license, a pistol a membership in some sports shooting club and so on and the selection will me much smaller, nothing automatic anywhere and 5 shot clips for the most part. Our resident Austrian and any Belgians can have much more and most of what Americans have currently, but then they have demonstrated that they tend not to have mass shootings. In other words, take away the toys until you learn how to play safe.

The EU are considering deliberately targeting industries in Trump states to make him feel it. Bush got away with it. If memory serves he did exactly the same thing, trying to protect the US steel industry. This time the sense is that they will respond in kind.

You can get the basic windows 10 for like 60 bucks. I dunno what's actually in the pro version that you need. I don't love windows 10 but at least it's not a major investment anymore.

My sense of the brief paid mods for Skyrim debacle was nothing less than that Steam almost destroyed a vibrant, crazy and weird and wonderful thing by inserting a profit incentive. How can you say that people who make mods don't deserve to reap some benefits, they do, and how can you argue that having 100+ mods in your Skyrim directory which used to be free should now cost a thousand bucks, you can't. Like you said it makes people aware that sharing and helping others is not in their own interest in a competitive and at times predatory environment. The whole community almost committed collective suicide. In a perfect world there are many more examples like Pavonis interactive, they made an Xcom mod that everyone had and went into business for themselves.

It seems to be more of a visual difference than a functional one. Which I get that people love to nitpick, but that doesn't change the fact that a lot of these mass shooters have been attracted to very similar looking weapons. Remember the Vegas shooting. 58 people dead and we are still supposed to pretend that a fork is a deadly weapon in the right hands. Guns don't kill people, yada yada. Guns aren't all the same and they aren't equally good at killing 58 people in the shortest amount of time.

You people need to get your act together, he's an embarrassment. Get rid of him.

Here's the question that begs answering though. What if you know there are going to be a lot more like him.
