You can be addicted to a certain lifestyle, or it can function like a psychological band aid, as cigarettes often do, but there are no withdrawal symptoms. Coffee on the other hand, I have to have mine or i get the shakes and a killer headache.

You don't seem to be able to differentiate between hard and soft drugs, it sort of removes a few layers of finesse from the discussion. There are plenty of good reasons why heroin shouldn't be legal, not so hash. And no, what the majority wants is not the guiding principle of democracy. The majority get their way, unless it infringes on the civil rights of the minority, that's one reason they don't hang black folk in the South anymore. Just as a forinstance.

I would say it's pretty straight forward that the US is worse than the Guatemalan goverment for creating a demand for human subjects. This is really about how bad the military industrial complex can get out of hand. it's a story that is repeated on neuclear test sites and base locations across asia where the populace was displaced, basically kicked out of their homes with no compensation, or deliberately conned into signing their rights away because the US needed the space.
