News Int. Inc. hack phone of missing (dead girl)
I would hope that someone would hack a cell phone to expose corruption, which is why it's such a waste they did it wantonly in the name of sensationalism.

News Int. Inc. hack phone of missing (dead girl)
I hope this doesn't doesn't provoke a situation where reporters are afraid to do real investigative reporting, not that the News of the World did much of that, but there is momentum now that the outrage is so strong that could take a wrong turn, both in terms of legislation and self censorship.

The "Humanitarian mission" in Lybia
Well, the more united we are the further the individual is removed from access to decision making, and the less in common we have. I think the expansion potential of the EU has just about been reached.

The "Humanitarian mission" in Lybia
How exactly is a Libyan rebel beheading a captured Ghaddafi soldier a NATO war crime, and how does rape help control the populace, seems like a plan that's guaranteed to backfire to me.

The "Humanitarian mission" in Lybia
one could wish for more pulling in the same direction with regards to dealing with the deficit and the recession, it seems like there is more ideology and electioneering preventing solutions in the US, whereas European politicians have to worry about being seen as part of the problem. Two party trench warfare should be banned in times of national crisis, instead it's readily accepted.

The "Humanitarian mission" in Lybia
Don't you understand that Invading Libya does not at all compare with the ramifications, political and practical, of invading Syria. Logic does not demand that they be treated equal, my logic or anyone else's.
-
The "Humanitarian mission" in Lybia
No, just that it's doable without risking upsetting a hornet's nest. The Syrians are getting the raw end of the 'Arab spring'. No one is coming to give them self determination on a silver platter. That's just how it is.
-
The "Humanitarian mission" in Lybia
Because this was practical and Syria isn't. It's opportunism as much as idealism.

The "Humanitarian mission" in Lybia
No, NATO went into this war unwilling to commit to anything but air strikes, well knowing that their part in it would only be to provide the rebels with the advantage. In this case the lessons of Iraq and Afghanistan which are in fact first in everyone's minds are preventing a quick solution. Ghaddafi forces are tiny compared and would quickly crumble.

The "Humanitarian mission" in Lybia
Rumors like this are immensely beneficial to forcing the Ghaddafi loyalist into giving up, or giving a lot more than they would otherwise consider in a permanent settlement. Also remember that the scope of the any military engagement is quite small in comparison to Afghanistan or Iraq. It might be best to just get it over with. I mean we know from the start that there is no political will to occupy and do nation building afterward, which might well prove to be a healthy attitude.

HBO's Game of Thrones
I tried reading one of the newer books, but after it started going on about Wulfgars love woes I lost interest. The first few books with Drizzit and Artimis reminded me of The Duelists, or maybe The Killer A continuous rivalry between a good guy and a bad guy with more things in common than what separated them which forces them to more clearly define who they are. Of course when you keep milking it for a dozen books you cheat the reader of a proper conclusion.

The Age of Renewable Energy
It's because part of the profit from solar installations comes through subsidies, and those are a bit more fickle than just dealing with the fluctuations in the energy market.
-
HBO's Game of Thrones
It's like an Adam Sander movie. You know it's going to be ****, but you can't help yourself.
-
HBO's Game of Thrones
You get addicted, it's like a bad TV show you keep watching because the sameness makes you feel comfortable.
-
HBO's Game of Thrones
Hey, I read all of Salvatore's Drizzt garbage. Granted that was when they first came out in the late 80s and I wasn't that demanding.
-
The Age of Renewable Energy
While we are at it, farming is C02 emission intensive. so if we get a bunch of more land cultivated to grow fuel that's one step forward and x amount of steps back.

Movies you've seen recently
Mother****ing ****sucking Torchwood is starting another season. Just FYI. That's not cinema, I know, but still.

Mass Effect 3
Gladly. I still get to rag on their games though.

Mass Effect 3
Bad sci fi is better than no sci fi. Not that ME is bad, it's a shooter with some small RPG elements. For what it is, it's pretty good. I guess the point was that if you are a sci fi fan you greedily grab whatever is available.
-
Mass Effect 3
Skilfull marketing, name recognition, the lack of anything better.

Dragon Age 2
I don't understand why anyone could put DA2 on their top 10s. I just finised it, and nothing could make me want to play it again. There was warrick, and the bit with the king of the cow people, and also when your mother gets kidnapped. Maybe 10% really good content to 90% cheesy manure. I can only conclude that some people just have no style. Otherwise who keeps buying the best of Micael Bolton boxed sets.

HBO's Game of Thrones
Much a matter of personal preferences, like food and music. Hard to set up objective criteria for excellence.

Dragon Age 2
Who developed these characters. I wouldn't piss on any of them if they were on fire. I mean, I can stand having the dwarf and the buxom pirate in my party, they sort of have good excuses for being caricatures, but it does leave me a bit outgunned for most situations.
