Witcher 2 Again
The only thing that seems to work is chain hitting intercepted with signs, try and kill one and then roll out of there so you don't get mobbed. I spent a long time running around in circles waiting for my health to regen enough for me to have another go at my pursuers. Not very entertaining.

London Riots
They are opportunists who are starting to figure out that the opportunity is lost. It might continue a day or two more on the strength of the international news attention, but these global stories have amazingly short half-lifes, as media attention starts to dwindle, so will the rioting.

Witcher 2 Again
I don't care if a game has a bad inventory system or not, that's really beneath noticing when it comes to total impression to me. I stopped playing as well though. It lacked... something, I don't know what, and it was too hard even on normal. Also I didn't relish the idea of waiting until the game was near over until I had most of the combat moves. I don't want to be a lv. 1. anything again.

well, it immediately raises the question of why they lied. as you suggested merely raising or brandishing a weapon could have been cause enough, so it seems less likely that that was what happened. you can count on the police involved to be acutely aware of the rules of engagement involving deadly force, and if they felt compelled to to lie that makes it likely that the shooting was unjustified.

So, it looks like the police shooting was unjustified, at least their stories don't ad up with the ballistics report. Doesn't excuse anything, but it does suggest why the first protest would end in violence.

Not going to happen, but it's fun to say it might on TV.

Well there was the industrial revolution, caused quite a bit of upheaval around the world, and then Thatcher.

The Danish police crowd control tactics consists of never allowing a demonstration to face a line of baton equipped police head on. Instead they get right up in the faces of the few in the front line of the hostile protesters who are agitating and willing to fight using police vans. They don't arrest anyone initially but try and create momentum that will break the enemy lines. It turns out the 'blitzkrieg' approach is surprisingly effective.

Deus Ex 3
If it's too successful every game will take place in a metropolis with 360⁰ ad space coverage. The only reason they can't yet, is that creating hundreds or thousands of actors with the same high poly count and texture res as the surroundings is still beyond the capabilities of graphics GPUs.

I know. They are always lame though, in game ads. They have written off doing something cool like the big screen blimp in Blade Runner by deciding to rent out ad space.

Deus Ex 3
That's a shame. No matter how much the wanted to make future Shanghai bladerunnerish and cool, it's just going to suck now with Ikea and Bang and Olufsson ads in Danish type everywhere.

How much do you want to bet it's about a mysterious maguffin buried in the ice.

Bomb and shooting in Norway
It's A la Rodney King. Some guy was shot by the cops and a demonstration developed into setting buses and stores on fire.

What you did today
Enjoy it while it lasts. It's best these first few months while it comes with a high.

Investors now see Australia as a better place to invest than the USA or Germany.
You would give the economy the death blow by cutting off most of the people who are employed by the government and then sit back and wait for the miracle of Capitalism to take place. It would make an interesting experiment that's for sure.

Cheering the f*** up
Equating profanity with social status and intelligence, as if those two were inseparable. That's a bit shortsighted and snobby, and not true... just mostly true.
-
Cheering the f*** up
Well, doing it online doesn't work, it just makes any potentially interesting people ignore you. This is a given.

Cheering the f*** up
It's not just a blue collar thing. Knowing someone well enough that you feel it's safe to spew general abuse is a sign of a level of trust and confidence.
