  1. Well it's pretty obvious that all drugs are not the same, not equally dangerous. I also don't think you can be addicted to cannabis at all. You can be addicted to a certain lifestyle, or it can function like a psychological band aid, as cigarettes often do, but there are no withdrawal symptoms. Coffee on the other hand, I have to have mine or i get the shakes and a killer headache.
  2. You don't seem to be able to differentiate between hard and soft drugs, it sort of removes a few layers of finesse from the discussion. There are plenty of good reasons why heroin shouldn't be legal, not so hash. And no, what the majority wants is not the guiding principle of democracy. The majority get their way, unless it infringes on the civil rights of the minority, that's one reason they don't hang black folk in the South anymore. Just as a forinstance.
  3. No, the majority has no right to deny a minority whatever they chose do with their leisure time without a real reason.
  4. The latter and the former will be completely ineffective you mean. Hash has become illegal through historical accident more than anything else, and government should stop trying to parent adults capable of making informed decisions. It really is much too late for that. If a drug policy existed that took only into account the relative danger of various drugs and made the worst of them illegal, I would support it, but it's not based on science, it's almost entirely about public opinion.
  5. I support legalization, the only real problem I see is with the new world order resulting from the sudden fatal drop in US productivity.
  6. Nooooooo... No more Sean Bean. The rest of the characters are so meh, a few exceptions aside.
  7. I would say it's pretty straight forward that the US is worse than the Guatemalan goverment for creating a demand for human subjects. It's also beside the point, they are both wrong, and have no exuse for their actions whatsoever. This is really about how bad the military industrial complex can get out of hand. it's a story that is repeated on neuclear test sites and base locations across asia where the populace was displaced, basically kicked out of their homes with no compensation, or deliberately conned into signing their rights away because the US needed the space.
  8. No, yes. Is Old World Blues yet another one of those deals where you get bumped on the head and lose all your items.
  9. They should make an effort to see if any of the doctors were still alive, and have them dragged before the warcrimes tribunal like they still do with surviving Nazis.
  10. That's actually part of the reason I ended up moving from morning shifts to the nights. In the mornings there's ALL women who are in the store, minus one latino guy. Of course, women always seem to have the same mood at all time... even if they aren't all pissed off, if one's sad, they're all sad. Start gossiping, it's awesome. Before you know it you will learn half truths you would never expect about everyone else there. There is power in that knowledge my young padowan.
  11. It really annoyed me when the fencing instructor fellow defeated four guardsmen by banging them on their helmets. I mean, they wouldn't feel a thing from that. It's like when a fragmentation grenade explodes in a giant ball of fire.
  12. 90s nostalgia is on the verge of becoming as annoying as 80s nostalgia, and that really would be a feat.

  15. Also the scene took place in a brothel with two hookers getting it on. I don't think it's humanly possible to craft it in such a way as to not be lewd and entirely 'male perspective'. I suppose a certain level of that stuff is expected from HBO. Probably doesn't hurt the subscription sales either.
  16. Clearly the show meant to be racy and full of sexual innuendo, so it can't come as any surprise. I also don't think it counts as pornography, I mean breasts and strategic cropping for the rest, pretty tame compared to say, Rome.
  17. I don't know if killing 8000 people in one go is considered genocide or not, we could call it something less dramatic like 'ethnic cleansing', but does it really matter. it's equally rotten.
  18. They can be used as a terror weapon though, and one of their primary functions historically was to affect enemy morale. Whether killing enemy civilians breaks the morale of the defenders or actually strengthens their resolve, that's an open question http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sniper_Alley

Hearing this again almost made me cry. Such a wuss. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vpGGX4DkyjE
  20. They used to regard crossbows as cowardly and unchivalrous because they could take down a knight in plate. The main concern here was that a lowly peasant should not have a practical way of killing those above his station, it might give him ideas.
  21. You know I barely noticed it, must be because I'm European and progressive and refined surely. The weird thing to me was how the scene was reminiscent of speaking out internal monologue like a bad 80s soap.
  22. Apparently beating your own squad with sticks builds character. There is a fine line between very manly man and lunatic.
  23. In a related note I must admit that in personal preference I support a minimum safe distance between full beards and male genitalia in my fantasy TV series.
  24. What exactly is the problem, are we feeling outraged on behalf of womanhood or cheated on behalf of male gaydom. Help me out here.
  25. I can't believe that made you feel sick... I thought it was an awesome scene! You a vegan or something.
