Project Louisiana? (not Fallout-related)
Lychnidos replied to Infinitron's topic in Obsidian General
Whats the state order they are going with? -
On the subject of the "hot women thread". I'm a member of a all-topic local forum, quite bigger than this one, with more than twenty times the number of active members. There is а subforum titled "Fashion and Beauty" there, and in this subforum there exist separate threads on the subject breast, ass, redheads, a general female beauty one, and who knows what else, featuring more explicit content than anything I saw in the aforementioned thread, barring full frontal. Now, per official statistics ~80% of the post in the particular subforum are made by woman(they also make a third of the whole user base), so what they do is create a thread called "Male Fashion Only" with the OP stating that the thread's purpose is "to help men keep up with current trends". But, what the OP and everyone else go on to post is pictures of male underwear models, and other scantly clothed men. And the world goes on, women seem to not notice the previously mentioned threads, barring the occasional lost fella asking where he can buy this or that men also do the same with the "Male Fashion Only" thread. This has been going on for more then ten years, the threads are of length that will make a moderator here have a stroke, male-female ratio remains the same. TL;DR Face it boys, you have little to no women here because of the purpose of this forum, not because of a ptsd induced by a particular thread. No matter what some loony hotheads claim, or nebulous statistics they come up with, the majority of women don't play games, and those few that do aren't inclined in discussing the minutia of them.

pink screen returns
Lychnidos replied to Augusto's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
This generally happens when you update the game, but not the expansions, GOG releases separate patches for all three. So, if you use GOG, update both WM 1 and WM 2, it could fix the issue. -
If someone actually listens it, can they post any new info, or anything interesting that was revealed. Thank you.

He is sailing South by Southeast away from the most southeastern city of the Vailian Republics, which means Dreadfire Archipelago. Arrr, mateys! It's a pirate rpg. I'm happy with that, though would have preferred Rautai, or even Aedyr. The Vailian Republics don't seem much more than Renaissance Italy, but black. P.S. Why does this forum lack a pirate emoticon G1fted? It's worth pointing out that there's a bunch of advantages to choosing the Valian Republics: It's supposedly the only other places in the setting where animancy is nearly as widely spread as Dyrwood. Animancy is one of the most novel and interesting parts of the lore, and Galvino's workshop was a great little dungeon. The game would probably have a whole bunch of faction politics, which is one of Obsidian's greatest strengths over other companies. The worldmap seems the most developed there. I seem to remember some indicators from the kickstarter that the extra city was going to be one of the Valian cities. Outside of the Dyrwood it has the strongest characterization already. That could lead to less exposition dumps. If Pallegina is any sample, fighting a group of gunadins. It's close to Dyrwood, so it would be easier to explain some ties / repeating NPCs. Renaissance Italy is fairly different from the pseudo-Germanic high Middle Ages setting we expect. Historical influence could lead to fewer good / bad binaries, very different religious nature, different climate, and possibly a better focus on game economy. It fits the established Early Modern themes well. I want to see the people who made the gorgeous art in Pillars do isometric Renaissance art. I still remember seeing the fountains in BG2 to this day. Imagine seeing some Renaissance or Humanistic art, architecture, and fixtures. No need to try to sell me anything, if you like the place you like it. To me it still feels like the most one-to-one transplanted area from the real world.

That makes it at least 25 months so far, PoE was 28-9 from start of pre-production to release. Paradox announced the release of Hearths of Iron 4 to be the 6th of June, so it seems Tyranny won't be released until August/September, at the earliest. That will at least equal PoE's development time, though it being longer seems likely.

Doesn't have much with how the world is regarded, the word terra is a feminine noun, so terratus is not a valid form in Latin.
-
To bad terra is feminine. Seeing it written as Terratus, with double r and -us ending, made my mind jump to Latin, maybe the guy transcribing it on the site I read it made an error. From my little familiarity with Modern Greek I remember that teras means monster, though I recall a different word for beast. Teratos could be a declension, or an Ancient/Medieval Greek variant. The Greek origin somewhat suits the Bronze-Iron Age transition period they say the world is in, though I don't see it much in the screenshots. Hilarious indeed.
-
Could be, I only saw it written in one of the previews.
-
Earth that is, would that be the translation in Latin? That would be Terra, as Bartimaeus said. Terratus sounds like something a twelve year old would come up with, thinking it's the coolest thing ever, because he knows a word in Latin. Though, maybe I'm being a little to harsh.
-
Apparently the world is called Terratus.

Original NPC portraits by Obsidian
Lychnidos replied to Messier-31's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Maybe that Aumaua with a beard was supposed to be a Pale Elf, but there was a mishap in communication with the artist. As far as I understood Aumaua don't have beards. -
Devs: A plea for a walk toggle
Lychnidos replied to oddrheia's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
If you want to walk just put boots of speed on everyone, and tada you are a party of walking penguins. Do it while you can, before the patch hits. -
Irregularities with the Stronghold Interface
Lychnidos replied to Emptiness's question in Patch Beta Bugs and Support
This only happens when you open the stronghold UI for the first time, after loading a game for the first time after starting the game. Closing and opening the UI fixes it. -
Can we have a Kickstarter for an Aurora - based RPG?
Lychnidos replied to notker_biloba's topic in Obsidian General
Never thought I'd live to see people asking for a game with NWN 2's camera. -
No Elmo, no party. I would go with sworn brothers only: Elmo - human fighter, One Eye - human wizard, though you can go with orlan as we can't change height, Goblin - same as above, Croaker - human paladin focusing on support, he was a surgeon after all. For the last two I can't decide, but the candidates are: Raven - human rogue, though a cipher can work as he dabbled a little with magic, Silent - human wizard, but that will be too many wizards for my taste, The Captain - human fighter, maybe goldpact paladin, The Lieutenant - as above. Murgen - human fighter, though we can deviate some and make him chanter as he was standardbearer, Otto and Hagop - human fighters, can't go with only one. A Taken party would be fun, bunch of wizards, one going missing every time you rest.

I'm having some difficulty envisioning how the premise(being the agent of a world spanning empire), is going to work in a rpg like PoE, or the IE games, which the screenshots suggest. Perhaps some kind of a strategy rpg, maybe with some King of Dragon Pass elements, would have been a better fit. Or, maybe the screenshots are misleading.

Hah, they also continue to sell that CK2 to EU4 converter, which they constantly brake whenever they release a new DLC for either game, but update it once in a blue moon.

Pillars of Eternity 2 questions
Lychnidos replied to Daermon's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Most likely the game indeed runs on Unity(considering PoE), but the game can look exactly like that in any modern engine. Interesting that Sawyer isn't working on Tyranny. That would open up a World of Darkness rpg pitched by Paradox to Obsidian. That seems rather unlikely, at least for now. We know Obsidian is currently working on the Armored Warfare MMO, the Pathfinder Adventure game, their new RPG Tyranny, the Lords of the Eastern Reach tabletop game, and the last few patches for PoE and its expansions. While the last two look close to being wrapped up, that still leaves a lot of work for a company the size of Obsidian to take on another RPG at the same time. The Lords of the Eastern Reach tabletop game isn't made by Obsidian; Sawyer, Adler (I think Brennecke too) are working on the unrevealed Project Louisiana. -
610kb Steam update
Lychnidos replied to phimseto's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
The patch released alongside TWM 2 was 3.00.967, the patch afterwards was 3.01.977, at least on GOG. Maybe you mixed up the numbers?
