  1. I think the reason why Ian Curtis killed himself, was that he was letting his mind wander while he was at work, and he just pictured the god awful covers of his songs that were going to come out. John Tesh actually did a better job than The Cardigans on Sabbath. Of course, he had the Zappa boys with him. No Cardigans, I will not say that I love you. Not after that. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uSLmuemE2OE
  2. I love how they don't even mention the CPU, or the GPU, or if that 8GB is shared with it. Well played, Microsoft.
  3. Apparently games are tied in to accounts, because they need to be installed on to the HD. It basically sounds like to need to be hooked up to the internet to activate your game. The disc will be nothing more than an install disc. Microsoft's marketing department:
  4. Didn't catch a dang thing. We started in Georgian Bay, but then the propeller on the electric motor hit a rock after those of us at the front of the canoe were a bit too blitzed to pay attention, and we had to bring it in. Then after putting on a new blade we went to a lake that was kind of close. It was deeper than usual and we didn't catch anything but weeds there either. On the other hand, I wasn't working, and I found out that I can still switch from beer to tequila when I run out of beer and not throw up. My Irish liver and stomach is still in near perfect working order.
  5. Ray Manzarek died today of bile duct cancer. I remember John Sebastian telling a story of how Ray would fill in for vocals as well whenever Morrison was too blitzed to make it on to the stage, and then he played a clip of him sounding pretty darn close to Jim. Of course, he also filled in after he died. I can't find the clip he played of Light My Fire, but here he his in '72.
  6. For today only, you can get Penny Arcade's Rain-Slick 3 for free on Steam from Penny Arcade's site. http://penny-arcade.com/static/rainslick-giveaway
  7. The difference between an injured player during an NHL game (or any other pro league) and this tournament is that the pro league game is their job, while this thing is an IIHF money grab, with implications that if an eligible player doesn't play in it, they probably wont get to play in the Olympics (or possibly the Canada Cup whenever they decide to get another one of those things going again) in games that really do matter. The World Juniors is a tournament that actually makes sense, showcasing the new upcoming stars for everyone to see. This one does not. I don't need to see Stamkos get concussed for the first time taking an elbow to the head. I already know what he's capable of. I don't need to know if he'll be good to go at the beginning of the season because of some game that didn't need to happen in the first place. Staal seems to be lucky, and should only need 3 months of rehab. Meanwhile, there is infinitely more important hockey going on.
  8. Get rid of that useless tournament. Hold qualifiers in the summer before the Olympics for the bottom teams. Those that qualify from the round-robins get automatic passes to the next Olympics.
  9. It would be nice to go biking on the trails in the area, and not have to bring a Swiss Army Knife along because after they got rid of the spring bear hunt, they started coming this way looking for food after their populations got too high again. Seeing one bear was one too many. They need to bring it back. Responsible hunters know more about animal conservation than anyone else, because it is in their best interest to know good population control so that way they will always have something to hunt. Poachers on the other hand; there is no use for them. I (arguably) fish, I don't hunt.
  10. ^^^^^^^^^ I'll try that one next time, thanks. I would swear that updates keep disabling old tricks of keeping you logged in for offline mode. As DRM, Steam is really coming across as the crappiest one as of today BY FAR for me, because nothing else I have prevents me from playing my games at home.
  11. If you donate(d) more than the average on the Humble Bundle, it now also comes with the Amnesia Fortnight prototypes for windows.
  12. I'm a sad panda. One of the guys with a canoe pulled out, and another person's canoe is no longer any good for the trip leaving us with 11 people, and 2 working canoes. The extra trips aren't a problem, it's the "if something happens" factor. So now we're just having a fire and pitching tents in the guy's backyard that lives (relatively) close by, while we leave the girls behind and take the remaining boats and go fishing for a few hours. Oh well, it beats working, even if it was my weekend to run the steady machines. The planner probably would have me change each machine over at least once everyday anyways.
  13. I've now switched to Desura for those indie games that GOG doesn't have. Just picked up DLC Quest and Dead Pixels. [broken record] I just wish they would fix that dang offline mode. Make it a top priority over anything else they do to it. Then I would be happy to give them money again. [/broken record]
  14. CD Projekt Red has released a beta version of REDkit, to allow people to mod Witcher 2. http://redkit.cdprojektred.com/
  15. Someone reminded them they were the Leafs.
  16. Sometimes I just shake my head at some of the RPG Maker kickstarters. To me in general, they're like a book. Just about anyone can write one, that doesn't mean it's going to be good. Plus, I'll only pay so much for one. As well, quite frankly, the most impressive ones I've seen so far haven't been on there (some people can do some great things with it on their own) - many of those are free. This one seems to take the cake: Dormant Sky® I couldn't forget the registered trademark symbol he put in the title. Also, apparently it says "Final Fantasy" in Katakana in the logo, which if I'm not mistaken, is a registered trademark. Apparently he used RPG Maker 2003 to make it. That was only released untranslated in Japan. It is technically illegal to use the translated copy for this type of thing. Plus he also took some art assets from Lunar 2, Rudra and Chrono Trigger. Did he mention that this was going to be a freeware game? Not on the main page he didn't. For some fun, read the comments. He should probably just shut it down, especially considering Deciga knows about it now.
  17. I guess we can do Kickstarters in Canada now without needing an American or Englishman on board. The Eternal Darkness spiritual successor Shadow of the Eternals is now an actual Kickstarter. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/617502838/shadow-of-the-eternals?ref=category It seems as though the new goal takes the $150K or so that they raised in the "fake" one out of the goal of the "real" one. Hopefully the biggest news out of this is that Canadians can now do these things without needing someone out of country. I wonder if that game (and the company) has a fan base big enough to support it.
  18. The best cut scene so far in Blood Dragon: Man, this game is great! All the cut scene animations are Tecmo-style. Oh, arcade screen: You were the only stopping me from becoming a crack addict AND a heroin junkie. THANK YOU!!!!!
  19. Don't you remember this goal? It was the first great one of the playoffs. Pin-point precision on a one-timer.
  20. It's good to get in one last Chicago-Wings series before they head off to the East. My best friend in high school was a Wings fan. I took solace in the fact that although we lost 4-1 in the series, we still outscored them. Then I think we began our run where we made the playoffs once in the next 10 years.
  21. ^^^^ I hope they make it. ($300K) Is a pretty ambitious goal though for a new company - albiet one made from the people who made the latter Midway Test Drive games. The former Sierra ones got just over that, and they were big names.
  22. Strangely enough, that is the exact same look I would have given her if she was around when I watched "Girl Next Door" at the drive-in, while wearing my North Stars shirt.
  23. It's steadily climbed up to 73.4K/sec. My guess is it's slowly getting through the backlog. This better not suck. I probably could have watched Terminator 1, and all of the Alien movies by the time it's done.
