David Gaider is now the Creative Director of Beamdog
One mans trash and all that... The most damning thing for me in PoE was the combat. I can hand wave any story, but I loves me some combat and sadly I just couldn't "get it" with PoE. I haven't actually played since the second to last beta but I'm fully in acceptance that the problem lies between the chair and the keyboard. For me, every single battle devolved into a pileup in the middle and me spastically machine gunning the space bar to try to get a handle on what was going on.

Oy, I hope Beamdog does not ape PoE. That ruleset is diametrically opposed to my ideas of "fun".

Ah, but I think you can kill them off for some good loot, without suffering a reputation hit.

Siege of dragonspear
But isn't SCL based on 5E-lite? I always thought that WotC basically forced game developers to use the latest edition.

Siege of dragonspear
I suppose. I wonder what kind of deal Beambog hammered out with WotC. Like how many future titles, which rulesets they can use, how did they cajole them into a 2E game?

Siege of dragonspear
If Beamdog can somehow bust out an all new D&D 2E game, I will squeee so hard.

My wife hires and fires all the time and she tells me some of the tales of firing people, and it sounds awful. Crying, anger, threats, complete shock, etc. makes me happy I dont have that responsibility.

Assuming her story is true, I cant understand why the police didn't charge him. I don't know if the law is the same for TX, but I believe most states allow the police to make an arrest even if the victim declines. They could also corroborate the story by talking to the valet. And I'm pretty sure breaking some ones phone will get you a charge too. Weird.

Active effects supressed
I trhink suppression is caused when you have two or more items/spells that produce the same effect. I believe higher rank effects trump lower rank effects. Meaning, they do not stack.

^See post 226 and onward. My child rearing experience has been mostly pleasant (except she had colic for the first three months). I sometimes wonder if I got lucky due to only having one child, or perhaps girls are easier to raise?

spell mastery - please dont do this
Iirc, one of the reasons for "per encounter" casting was because spells don't scale with level. For example, Minoletta's Minor Missiles do the same 12-21 damage if cast by a level 1 wizard or a level 14 wizard. Since "per encounter" has been taken off the table, what is being used to compensate for lack of spell scaling? Only the one spell with "mastery"?

They are free labour around the house, there is that. Pretty sure you have to pay in time investment to tell them to do something the required 100 times before they actually do it. Almost "universally", its easier to do the chore yourself, but its the principal.

The Rape of Europe
I did and I didnt. Im going to continue to remorselessly airquote and use words everyone else understands in conversational English. But I also pity the foo's that engage certain people irl. That's got to be a rough ride. And the above examples I provided are "rational" to those cultures.
