  1. Nah, that game actually had reasonably working mechanics, it was just boring as hell.
  2. If Im to lay aside my bias for a moment +technicly solid- good FPS, no crashes +surpisingly good animations- lightyears better than NWN +cosy graphical atmosphere +good combat for a realtime CRPG -excessively generic -infinitely predictable story -only sporadic english voice over (characters animate like they talk but its all text) -writing feels strained at times -very little actual roleplaying: you rarely have more than one dialogue choice
  3. It doesnt surpise me that they lost money on Mirror's "8-hour fecal waterslide" Edge, the sensible thing would have been to promote Battlefield: Bad Company instead. But not only did they make the horrendous mistake of not releasing a thoroughbred PC game like B:BC on the PC, but they also chose to promote ME, which was all style and no substance. If you havent played B:BC yet, do it now. Its a top notch shooter with fun and unusual characters. Its every bit as good as CoD4
  4. What are you on about? They DO have a wind direction indicator.
  5. A decent game for an FPS. Its much more than decent, its more or less everything an FPS should be. We played it last night over LAN and even though we were just 3 people, it was awesome A tricked-out M60 with stopping power+deep impact is the shiznitz. Well, if you aim as badly as I do, that is.
  6. I thought the AI was quite clever, the first time around it encircled me and defeatet me in a surprise attack from the rear while I was busy setting up to attack what I thought was the main force. The second time around I left troops to guard the rear, then it aligned all its troops into a proper battle line, moved and hid the heavy guns in the forrest which was a very nasty surprise when I marched out of cover and onto the field. The only thing it did wrong was to only leave a single plattoon to guard the guns, which enabled me to charge them with my cavalry and take them out. They did however, rapidly move troops from their flank so that when what was left of my cavalry tried to return to ranks, they were completely locked in between the enemy troops and the river. I won the battle, but lost half my army.
  7. The only engine specificly developed for MacOS Ive seen is http://unity3d.com/ it looks pretty slick from what Ive seen, but its not AAA class. However, any OpenGL based engine that works on Linux can theoreticly be ported to MacOS since they are both Unix-based.
  8. One of the worst non-finish offenders is Dreamfall. Its not just a cliffhanger, but it also feels like it ends about 2/3rds through the game. And Funcom still havent decided if they are going to make a sequel, one that if begun today, would see the story continued just 6 years after the first game ended. punisheable by death indeed.
  9. My town is so small that even a 140KT nuke will obliterate it
  10. Why, I have no idea what you're inseminating there? I did as I always do, I took the ferry down to L
  11. Im playing this game just so I can complain endlessly and drive people like mkreku insane with righteous rage. Ive actually met some of the people who made this game at a convention, and they were very much like the game itself. boring and german. The only moment of fun Ive had thus far was an NPC called "Runkus Bagthumper", to us swedes that would be like being named "Wankus", and its surprisingly close to a famous mongoloid from an Onkel K
  12. Nah Nah! That's very unmanly. Not if you punch hard enough.
  13. I think the part about the "lets make it a really unsatisfying non-ending so we can set it up for a seuqle that will be released years after everyones forgot the original game" is one of his best observation this far. I cant remeber the last time I played a game that actually had an ending. In most games you just run out of game, and then the credits roll.
  14. To ask wether comedy belongs in computer games is like asking if poop is brown.
  15. Self-mockery is awesome, like in Arrested Development when Henry Winkler steps over a dead shark on the docks and goes like "Oh" DID YOU SEE WHAT HE DID THERE?!!
  16. It's friggin fantasy, you twits. Its SUPPOSED to be a Lotr ripoff.
  17. It was a really dumn PR stunt though, I bet there are quite a few kids out there who are pissed off enough to wish for another christmas game.
  18. I love cannons so much I made my own the texturing/shading is a bit dodgy, I ran out of time Seriously, my Grandpa was an engineer at Bofors, dad used to work for FOI, so Im geneticly inclined to love things that go BOOM!
  19. The finished game will have grenadiers, mortars and howitzers; all units that lob shells over your own troops and down on the enemy Yes, they do and its quite annoying. The game should have the old RTS fucntion that you can decide which direction your troops will face by clicking, holding the button and moving your mouse to set their direction.
  20. I dont get it. How in the bleedin hell can you NOT consider the 1700s an interesting era?! I would rate the different settings: Samurais: seriously not cool, didnt even play it. Medieval: quite uncool, that period of time is an utterly worn out setting Rome: Bloody awesome, doesnt get much better (my fav of the tw games) Medival 2: a polished up RTW in a boring, overused setting (great game though) Empire: The era that spawned wargames as we know it and the most important period in european history. AWESOME. ..and theyd better make an expansion about the 30 years war and the 1600s in general
  21. Yup, the retail version comes bundled with steam. So, the only way to avoid it is to use a cracked/hacked version which allows you to circumvent steam. All the major steam games like L4D are available with no steam cracks.
  22. You Japanified heathens, I think TW has finally hit home with this time period. But unfortunantly, Steam is mandatory and with that comes a limited number of installs.
  23. It took me three attempts before I beat the Brandywine scenario, it was tricky to get the hang of how to get your troops to align properly. The first two times they did stuff like line up with their backs to the enemy and other random stupidity. But the enemy AI did some surpising moves, it split its forces and encircled me while I was encircling them in order to avoid their heavy artillery. Ive got the game pre-ordered and ready to go on Steam.
  24. What are you talking about? ME had really tight art direction, everything looked like they wanted it to. Sure, the style is a big funky but you dont order porkchops and expect cake.
  25. I think he's just bashing something he's never tried. Call of Duty 4, the new Rainbow Six games, Gears of War- all outstanding proof that medkits are a thing of the past* * with the exception of games where they're an important part of the gameplay like in L4D, and not just some arbitrary thing that designers use because they dont know of a better solution.
