Boycots and the idea of consumer power is completely ridicilous. The success rate is something like 1:1000000

Is the world a better place now or worse?
Kaftan Barlast replied to Kaftan Barlast's topic in Way Off-Topic
In Sweden, the general consensus is that things were at their peak in the 50's and 60's and from then on it has been a steady decline. All the jobs are moved abroad, unemployent keeps rising, cutbacks everywhere. -
Today there was one mastodont documentary about global warming on one channel and another mastodont about the democratistion of the world in the postwar world. This led me to think about wether or not we're living in a declining society or one on its way to better and bigger things. It's hard to tell because alot of things have changed for the better, while other seem to be locked in a downwards spiral. Being a practical person, I thought wed try to make up our minds about this by listing the things that are good right now(in the last 5 years or so), and the ones that are bad. Then we can make up our minds if things were better in 1995 or 1968 or whatever. Feel free to add to my list or make your own. GOOD: -The president of the US seems like a nice chap for once -Technology -Medicine -An increase in global living standard -The internet has made global communication possible and made the world a lot smaller BAD: -Ever increasing umeployment and poverty in the west with no solution in sight (we cant all be sustainable development consultants) -A highly unstable economy where the rich gets richer and the poor poorer -The rise of religious fanatism and violence -Constant conflicts outside of the west that never die out -A decrease in western living standards -Increased 'big brother' behaviour from goverments and bussiness alike. ACTA treaty for example. I seem to have a slight problem comming up with good stuff, but I suppose thats the inherent pessimism of the Swedish soul.
-
I think the problem is that people doesnt differentiate between bussiness and big bussiness in their argumentation. Adam Smith was all for the former and against the latter.

We Swedes hunt seals when the population grows big enough to mess with the fishery. They tend to use rifles though, not bludgeons.

A co-operative is socialism, not capitalism yo.

Not much for trolls, eh? I think you may have bitten of more than you can chew here. *sharpens troll fangs and hums to self* "Will you walk into my parlor?" said the spider to the fly; "'Tis the prettiest little parlor that ever you may spy. The way into my parlor is up a winding stair, And I have many curious things to show when you are there." "Oh no, no," said the little fly; "to ask me is in vain, For who goes up your winding stair can ne'er come down again."

Perhaps if your country, you know, produced some entertainment themselves you could watch it rather then being at the mercy of the US networks. Oh wait, thats right have a sense of entitlement and lash out at the hand that feeds you. Standard MO. I would be equally upset if the brits claimed "No wallace & gromit for you because its asparagus day". But they dont, because they're sensible people who dont cancel quality entertainment just because its a holiday. ...also, in socialist Sweden, TV watches YOU. (and they send you letters like "kaftan, we know you're watching please pay us." all the time.)
-
You American pigdogs and your awful holidays, today I woke up and when I tried to watch 30 Rock and Community there was nothing there because you cant be bothered to air shows on your silly chickin-eating festival.

I especially hate it when you have to run around the whole map to find what you're looking for. It should be quite easy to find the main story things, so you could do the other spelunking at your leisure if you wanted to. But Now you absolutely have to painfully search every damn corner of those awful caves.

I HATE THE DEEP ROADS. WHY DID YOU MAKE THEM BIO, WHY?!!!!!! grind, grind, grind, loot, grind, grind and no play makes kaftan a dull boy

Diablo III or The elder scrolls 5
Kaftan Barlast replied to urielrose's topic in Computer and Console
The last TES game was not horrible, so Id hit that. Diablo just makes me want to rip out my tonsils from sheer frustrated boredom. Itd be like playing the deep roads of DA over and voer again for all eternity. -
Im not gay, but if I was then I wouldnt go all gay with some nancyboy elf dude. Id like me a real man, someone with meat on his bones and hair all over his manly, sweaty body and that could lift logs with one arm.

Finished all campaigns in L4D2 on advanced. Im a bit disapointed, valve havent spent as much time designing levels and encounter spots as with the first game. Instead of levels with encounter spots that requires a lot of skill and tactics to get through, it was more of a linear "lets just do a generic level and we'll just randomise enemies along the way". Which makes it less memorable. ..but when we get the original maps for L4D2 it'll be pretty awesome

I dont think you can speak of "racism" towards mutants. We'd dislike mutants the same way we dislike emo kids or republicans.

It's like reading the music sheets along with the music, fresh. -
Im surpised to see so many actual authors in the mix, people considered able to write that nontheless have commited litterary atrocities But if all that is bad, then what the does good sex in litterature read like? Gorth's note - Parental Guidance adviced when following links

EA/DiCE blew their entire PR budget on Mirror's Edge while BFBC was allowe to slip through a June release almost unheard of. And the lack of a PC version made things even worse. Although MW has a much tighter kind of multiplayer with outrageously thought-out leveldesign.

How the hell can you have 100+ spellpower? Im lvl 14 with a redistritubed stats Mage and Ive only got 51 with all my sweet loot on.

Me too. I secretly giggled for myself just to give expression on how satisfying it was to take down 12 guys at once. Like so: "I am a kung-fu GOD!!!"

RFG didnt have much in the way of story or things happening to keep you interested. It was just repeating the same thing over and over in every new area. I got bored halfway through the second area when I realised it wasnt going to get any better. That it is. Which is why you get odd things like fps dependant hit detection.
