These internet contests always makes me wonder. I mean, its not we can find out if anyone actually won and if theyve been given a price. M$ could just declared the contest is over and then pretend nothing happened and noone would ever know there were no Xboxes handed out

Vote of No Confidence in GM Archie!

Yes, and there is no way Id GM a game of Diplomacy. -
Im asking this queston because Im studying game design(with a specialty in art&graphics) and some parts of the program focuses on the design of boardgames of different kinds, not PnP RPGs though. Im negative to this because A) the market for new games is virtually nonexistant B) boardgames never tell a story like a computer game can So I wanted to check with some "common people" and see what your habits are. Important : If you play a computerized variant of a boardgame it doesnt count. Note: some computer games can of course be done "analog" to try game mechanics in the pre-production phase, and there the boardgame concept can be useful.

China renews their crackdown on the internet

I just wish people who wrote religious manuals would have been a little more specific. Imagine what could have been avoided if they had simply written: 1. Dont kill anyone. 2. Dont start wars. 3. Dont kill/maim/beat/rape/torture/banish or otherwise harm people who dont share this religion Then the worlds religions wouldnt have bodycounts of several million lives. But instead, they not only have things that make it possible to interpret it pretty much as you want to but they have plenty of "THIS religion is right = everyone else must be destroyed" -
If you pick me, I *will* force you to use the classic "Magical Volo is my hero" :D

Don't you find it amazing that nearly 2 billion people today would utter the name of a carpenter who lived two thousand years ago with love? He must have done something right. Some people say.. and this isnt just some rumour that I picked up on te internet.. that he had a REALLY good PR-agent. The Qu'ran states that man and woman are equal. Today's Islamic fundamentalists should go read the Qu'ran and not listen to some militant guy who never had a good understanding of the Qu'ran in the first place but decided to interpret parts of it anyway. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Say what you want about Sayed Qutuf and Ayman Al-Zawahiri, but guys who manage to write books while being imprisoned, tortured and attacked by vicious dogs deserve respect.. thats R.E.S.P.E.C.T Im talking about here, buddy " *is taken away by the men in the black vans* -
I dont get what everyones got against EA? I mean, selling the lowest quality games at the highest possible prices is only good bussiness, yes? " ..and treating employees and developers like dirt is only a bonus :D

I think it was more because Rebecca Romijn cant act. I absolutely hated how they had taken a character with such a personality and extensive background and made her a completely 2dimensional "hot chick" with extensive makup. It wasnt much about the Xmen films that was good. The mystique limited 24-part comic was very good, it wasnt too good in the beginning and it slowed off at the end but the middle was spot-on. Featured some amazing artwork too.

*stabs roleplayer with a sharp stick* Mystique is not a friggin second rate character! Shes even got her own mag and everything. ..the film version of her sucks though.

I understand they used to tar&feather Mormons in the old days, a very fine tradition I think. We should take it up again but this time we can include Scientologists and anyone who watches preachers on TV -

*ponders the Top 3 prophets* 1. Jesus was a carpenter of some sort whose life before 30 was mysteriously edited out. His girlfriend was a whore and he brought his mum with him everywhere. He was also jewish. 2. Buddha was a richboy who got a guilt trip and started backpacking and soulsearching. He was kind of like George Harrison. He was tripping by some trees and thought of buddhism. 3. Mohammed was a confirmed epileptic who had it on with this much older woman who was like his sugarmommy. He was a bit like a gigolo. Anyways he went a little funny in the head and started seeing things because of the epilepsy but his sugarmommy told him it was god who spoke to him and made him grow a beard and take up prophetizing. He repaid her by starting up the #1 woman-repressing religion in the world. *listens to the sound of toes being stepped on* -

KAFTATINE: It is with great reluctance that I have agreed to this calling. love Diplomacy and I love OBS-3. But I am mild by nature and do not desire to see the destruction of Diplomacy as we know it. The power you give me I will lay down when this crisis has abated, I asure you. " -
I remeber when that patch came, I just got the versions wrong.. now that I think about it I played Q1 on the internet and that means it was sometime in 1996. Anyway Q1 didnt use OpenGL at all first: I had a Matrox PowerVR card, it sucked. Developers stopped supporting the technology fairly quickly too. I remember it didnt support the flashy new things like coloured lights in what must habe been Q2

Wow, you got like 3 feet of air that time.

ATARi would be so increadibly bancrupt if they didnt own that damn D&D license.

And hang the last capitalist in the intestines of the last priest? -
If I was a Dev(that wasnt constantly *** in the *** by an interfering publisher as is the norm) I would begin dishing out renders and concept art as soon as it was ready and then continue to gradually release material as the development progresses. That way fans would stay interested, satisfied and theyd also be given a sense that they have more insight into the making of the game. btw, does anyone know if NWN2 is 3rd person(koTOR) or Isometric(nwn1)?
-
Up to Q3 they used their own system/platform, which I dont know much about. OpenGl and 3Dfx didnt begin to be used until the 3D cards came for real which was after Q2 had been released
-
I still play Q3 from time to time, it gives me the kind of rush not even drinking a whole pot of coffee could give :D Its just so insanely fast and furious If youre going to play Q2 then I absolutely suggest that you download John Carmacks OpenGL porting of it. Thats about the only essential "mod" I can remember.

The whole concept of "Different nation, different rules" with bussiness and China is very interesting. Especially that Rupert "Fox" Murdoch, the worlds greatest media mogul and rightwing supporter, did the same thing when the Chinese goverment was threatening to disallow him television broadcasting rights in China. He instantly forgot about his political conictions and agreed to air whatever the communists wanted him to air -

Well, a true bussinessman would deal with the devil if it could earn him a profit ..like how IBM denies that they knew what their punchcard machines in Auschwitz were being used for, even though they sent special technicians there every 2 months to service them "
