  1. I wouldnt expect it to go that fast. These types of conflicts typicly lasts around 80 years or more. The conflicts die down as society changes in such a way that armed conflict no longer seem like a viable alternative.
  2. The chat will most likely be arranged so that only the NWN2news guys and the OE people will have voice. Everyone else will be a spectator.
  3. 03:00 for us Swedes. Ill be there.
  4. But this all hapened with the PLO 20years ago. They went from a listed terrorist organisation to an aknowledged political organisation. Now Hamas is and has been much, much more aggressive and extreme than PLO ever was but it might happen with them too.
  5. Swedish analysts/pundits are saying that perhaps Hamas will go the same way as the Irish Sinn Fein and eventually drop all terrorist goals.
  6. But Wallace&Gromit is regular, old-school Clay-animation, innit?
  7. The PC is the mother unit. NWN2 is not "pc exlusive" it just isnt ported to alternative formats like the Xbox360. Just like how a program written on a Mac and if noone makes an UNIX version is not a "Macintosh exclusive", it just isnt ported to other formats. The phrase "(something) exclusive" refers only to a game that is DELIBERATELY kept from being released on a format that is available to the majority in order to encourage sales of the particular unit you make the game exclusive for. ...but in a pure semantic sense, "pc exclusive" is a correct expression. Just like how my left twinkie toe is exclusive to my left foot.
  8. I would just like to remind you that there is no such thing as a PC exclusive. Games where the publisher, in order to sell more console units, refrains from releasing a PC version in an attempt to force/lure PC users to purchase a console, are correctly named "console exclusives". Also, a PC game will be playable by the majority whereas a console game will only be playable by the minority who owns the console required.
  9. You were saying something?
  10. Doing a NWN2 module based on it would be nice but it would require a massive amount of art assets to reproduce Sigil and the creatures and people in it.
  11. That is controlled by the pens pressure sinsitivity. If you press hard, you get a wide stroke and if you ease up you get a finer stroke. Of course, it can be set to regulate tons of functions like opacity or how much "paint" will be on your brush etc. In painter it comes preset with the most realistic function assigned already. and with the Wacom Intuos3 series you get 1028pressure levels which allows for very fine control of what youre doing.
  12. Three words for equality in NWN2; studded leather speedos. "
  13. The **** in the game design faculty decided it was a swell idea to put us artists in the advanced math for graphics class with the programmers. Its very annoying since its very demanding but ultimately completely useless as it is only needed when programming an engine from scratch (and we dont program) But I do have a question, are you using Quaternions or Matrices in your engine?
  14. (This isnt a complaint, its just fuss over details. If youre a dev and see this, pay it no mind) Im curious if theye actually explained what a (insert weird subrace) is doing living the quiet life in a human village. I mean, there is always the "your fosterparents found you deserted in the corn field one day and raised you to become a cheesemaker" but thats too obvious.
  15. That does break my argument. I suppose Hades is right that any system of society can become cruel and opressive once the wrong people come to power... except that I dont believe the wrong people = any people
  16. I mean it in the sense that many islamic countries for an example still practise forms of punishment that are unacceptable by any reasonable humane standard It is also a question of the separation of church and state, which is a cornerstone in the idea of a fair and democtratic society.
  17. I never played any of the Icewind Dales because I dont like Dungeon crawler hack n slashers. Was it meant to something more than that or was it a concept aimed at the H&S crowd from the beginning?
  18. Thats is completely true, it is a moral Dark Age more than a cultural one but it is still a dark age. It is curious that a society based on religious dogma is always infinently more cruel and inhumane that one based on philosophic ethics and reason, when the very aim of the religion is to prevent this cruelty and inhumanity. edit: Oh, and although Im sure its already been said. Bin Laden is in no way able to declare a truce as he has no real power over the loose groups who make up what has become known as Al-Qaeda. There are also plenty of active groups who do not consider themselves part of Al-Aaeda.
  19. Indeed. But, dont they dub movies in Spain? I would think it would be increadibly strange to see it in Spanish.
  20. My memory is far too good for me to be able to enjoy replaying games with a strong story and plot. It just isnt fun when you know exactly what comes next. Even with games I played 10years ago as a child, I still remeber large parts when I replay them.
  21. There are small parts of the FO dialouge that ISNT a reference to something else
  22. Is it pixel(photoshop, painter) or vector(flash, illustrator) graphics?
  23. They removed the second "invisible" time limit from Fallout 1 aswell because the Fallout series are the kind of games that you play and play and play. I think it took me about 2
  24. (this is a bit game design university-ish but anyway) RPG means Role-playing GAME which indicated that there must always be an element of gameplay beside story/characters. D&D is aimed at providing a fun and strategic gameplay with many options for handling combat but only a few of the skills can be used for non-combat (even if they do it very well; sense motive, gather information, intimidate etc. ). You would do better with a game whose system provides more options for non-combat gameplay. That way your action-hungry players wont have to sit through an evening without rolling a single die. Read a few books, watch a few movies, "borrow" nice plots form them and make a campaign out of it. There is no easy way you can explain in detail what it takes to entertain players. Youll have do make do with a few keypoints Have lots of story action, dont let the players get the time to be bored. Construct the story so that it involves the players directly, dont make them just the regular heroes that have to save a village full of people they dont even know or like. Always provide the players with clues to your mysteries but never so many that they are able to actually figure it out. Be prepared to improvise when your players come up with solutions you didnt plan for If you give them false clues, make it apparent that the info they have is contradictory so they wont go completely off track
  25. We presented it today, it went fine and I might even get a really good grade for my graphics. The real pressure of the crunch lay on the programmers who worked nonstop wednesday morning to thursday evening. By that time it was too late to implement anymore graphics so I was just on a standby in case something needed correction. But despite all the work, the game is little more than a tech demo of Isometrics in a Flash enviroment in its present state. I would post it on the boards but I dont think it is presentable to be subjected to the scrutiny of the masses
