  1. But the real question is... are you still a profit? "
  2. Discovering "Y The last Man" I naturally had to dig deeper into the works of Brian K. Vaughan and I found "The Runaways", published by Marvel. I only have two issues so far but the very idea is great fun: What would YOU do if you discovered your parents were supervillains? It's a shame Marvel hasnt branched out in the same size as DC has done with Wildstorm and Vertigo, though. They have MAX for the Supreme Power line, but they really need some more mature titles.
  3. I just want OE to be able to make exactly the games they want to. Preferably for the PC.
  4. Well, I do have some D&D books on PDF format lying around so I suppose it would be possible. Im going back to Uni in two weeks though so wed have to act quickly and efficiently. The problem is that Dungeons&Dragons isnt exactly my cup of tea, and I feel more than slightly constricted trying to conjure up ideas for an adventure in the setting.
  5. I always use Vsync becaue it affects more than just tearing. It helps you avoid plenty of other graphic distortions aswell.
  6. The "hot" chick isnt even hot. Shes average looking although blonde and skinny.
  7. Dont ask me why and how but Ive seen it. I think Ive seen the first one too many years ago before Manga became such a trend, but I didnt like either one. The extremely shallow attempts at quasi-philosofy just made me cringe. Those Japanasians should just stick to tentacle rape.
  8. I think supernatural or even near-supernatural things in games have been done to death, and I desperatly crave realism. A post-apocalyptic world doesnt need zombies or aliens, the threat of the desolation itself and the evil man is inherently capable of would be threatening enough. The same goes for any historical or pseudo-historical setting. Just imagine the kind of suspense and intrigue you could fit into a RPG where you take the role as a UN observer in the middle-east who is caught between arab goverments and terrorists on one side and the machinations of the oil industry and the CIA on the other. If hollywood can do it and make enourmous profits, then why cant the gaming industry?
  9. Naturally, this was big news over at the game dev forum but it seems its just a reply to Sony's PS3 which will apparently be Linux compatible and thus homebrew heaven
  10. So.. anyone feel like DMing a game?
  11. I know data-theft is the reason why no Swedish companies ever give away or sell old computers, opting instead to have them thouroughly "destruated" (which isnt such a bad thing considering the amount of gold recycled from circuits) And come on! We know all these little brats in the third world would ever do with these computers is to waste precious time playing games and browsing pornography, time that could have been spent making shoes in the Nike factory. So either we stop this silly notion of charity, or the Lakers will have to play the next season barefoot. Is that what you want, huh? Is it?!
  12. But one thing that has happened to me nowadays is that I cant really understand, except on a purerly theoretical level, why I should pay half the cost of a fullprice computer game for a plastic disc with some sound on it? Music has begun to feel like such a cheap thing. The last record I bought was Tools "10000 days" and I listened to it once and then put it on the shelf, hasnt touched it since. Thats definently not value for money.
  13. Well, look on the positive side of things. A whole generation of would-be Blink 182's or Linkin Parks will be stopped dead in their tracks An even more insane anecdote from the intrawebh: The first versions of the Swedish internet copyright law that came into effect may 2005, effectively made it illegal to browse the WWW since it banned downloading any form of copyrighted material to your computer(which is what happens when a browser loads a site). Including photos, news articles, web graphics and even java and php scripts. The browser cache of the average intenet user would contain enough proof of violating the law to get you a
  14. Still, if you compare the level of realtive idiocy here with that of another forum who-shall-not-be-named then we're the cream of the crop, baby. The differance is that the entire concept of NWN is to supply the players with an easy way for them to(in a way) make their own game. And this far it is the only game to do that. There are lots of games supplied with some form of toolset, but its a world of differance.
  15. But 360+PS3+Wii+HDTV and I still wouldnt be able to do 90% of what I use my PC for. ( wait.. shoudlnt that be 10%? Or am I too tired and confused? )
  16. It's a fair cop. But when it comes to being forced to have 8 different consoles + a PC to be able to play the kind of games you like, Ill hold you responsible " To me it just feels like you walk into a music store and they go "You want Ulkghar Fjortniborks new album? Oh, but then you need a Sony BMG stereo. And if youre thinking about Gl
  17. I would like the cloth to be fine linnen canvas of a smooth but still firm texture, the colours should be subtle yet vibrant and should last a minimum of 40 years
  18. I would just like to remind people that I intended the game descriptions to be quite specific, theres no point in going "An open-ended RPG in a Cyberpunk setting." It should be like: I want to play a futuristic cyberpunk RPG where you take the part as the first true AI the world, and your mission is to explore the world and meet humans in order to learn from their experiences so that you might one day be able to open up your own chain of fish&chips shop on the east coast of England. The gameplay would be turnbased with a percentage-like action pool that enabled a wide range of tactical options like throwing excrements and yelling loudly. Dialogue would be rich and you would have atleast 3 options with the ability to lie or otherwise manipulate the NPC youre talking to. The artwork of this game should look like a pulp sci-fi paperback from the early 60's
  19. The Brits managed to stop this years big terror-event, I dont think its likely that something of that scale is likely to occur within the next 10months
  20. This thread is inspired by that sketch in Little Britain where the odd man walks into the videoshop and tells the owner he would like to see a film where Eddie Murphy and Mel Gibson plays cops who go undercover as south american drugdealers in.. and so on. Whereupon the following exchange of lines happen. -We dont have that film, I dont think ive ever heard of it. Are you sure it's been made? -No, but that is the film I would like to see. And thats what this thread is all about. You come up with a quite specific description non-existant game you would like to play. The game I would like to play today would the "Europe: Total War" which would be the next installment of the TW series taking place in Europe during the 30 years war of the 1600's and continuing to Napoleons day. You would control Royalty and politics on one hand, and the other would be massive battlefields where the smoke from gunpowder would lie heavy in the air. Your room would fill with the thunder of artillery, the racket of hundreds of muskets being fired simultaneously and the roar of charging cavallery. You should also be able to guillotine people.
  21. The notion that PC gaming is in a decline is nothing but a myth. The PC market is as steady as ever, I heard this myself from the CEO of Paradox Publishing and he should know what hes talking about. Its not expanding as agressively as it did in the 90's though, because everyone already has a PC by now If you look at the statistics here for example http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Decline_of_PC...sales_in_the_US you can see that it actually omits MMO's, which is a HUGE portion of the PC market. Its like making a list of console sales and excluding platform titles.
  22. Jack Thompsson and the league of christian conservatives has got it completely backwards. Aspiring psychos like to play violent video games* or watching snuff clips on the internet BECAUSE they are psychos to begin with, not because the stuff itself makes them. What makes them that way is either genetic or the result of a seriously screwed up childhood. Its exactly how people in the 18th century accused Beethovens music of inspiring the young to lewd acts, or how the Beatles white album supposedly inspired the Manson Family. Completely and outrageously wrong in every aspect. *, Normal people dont actually percieve game violence as violence, its just part of the gameplay. And also the built-in human psychological rephlex that pressing a button and getting massive amounts of feedback(like a massive explosion or) is tons of fun.
  23. There are large problems with NWN2 for Mac and Linux since Electron is DirectX based, meaning you would need to either rewrite it completely or use a windows-emulator like Wine or Cedega. The original NWN was OpenGl, which is a mutli-platform API that works on everything from MacOS to Unix systems
  24. I think the US version comes on CD's because Wal-Mart wont sell it otherwise, we euros get flashy DVD's
  25. Why wouldnt it support OpenGl? I mean, if it didnt, theyd lose a bucketload of customers who run OpenGl based programs such as CAD/CAM's etc.
