  1. I wonder if they will march all the way into Beirut this time? Isreal has been in a recession for quite some time now, unemployment is high and things are not looking well. Still, war can be successfully waged with borrowed funds.
  2. Yes, because just like the movies small covert teams are secret ninjas and pull of rescue ops no problem. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, hollywood or not, that is what groups like the YAMAM or Sayaret Matkal are for. An armour division is what you use if youre attempting to rescue 5000 soldiers caught in a pinching manouver by the enemy, not to save two men taken prisoner by guerillas
  3. Yeah, reasonable course of action would have been to send in a small covert team to retrieve the soldiers, instead they came with an entire armour division with substansive air support and artillery. Earlier this week they also shelled Gaza City, which doesnt make any sense whatsoever if youre trying to liberate a hostage held by a small group of terrorists hiding among civilians. This is a show of force, a tactic theyve applied again and again since the end of the 1948 war. It didnt work back then and it wont work now either. All they will accomplish is more dead civilians and even angrier arabs wordwide, which will help to increase terrorism rather than supress it.

  5. Still, the effects of LSD and other psychoactive drugs on the brain in the case of a "bad trip" is very similar to that of a schizophrenic psychosis. And the synapses and whatnot that gets randomly connected in the brain during such a psychosis does not necessarily disconnect when the drug wears off. Repeated use of LSD could make anyone begin to display symptoms of schizophrenia. But in Syd Barrets case, he had a histoy of mental illness before that. It was quite tragic and somewhat ironic what happened when Pink Floyd was recording "Wish you were here" which is much more about Barrett than "Dark side of the moon". Syd Barrett visited the studio, but was in such bad shape that his former band members barely recognised him, and he was also incoherent and in th end they had to throw him out so they could continue to work on the record that was mean as a tribute to him. edit: why did that come out like Ive copied&pasted it from some website? I really didnt. Am I imagining things? ..am I slipping into the clutches of madness? Eeeeek!
  6. I enjoy the philosophy of the great Sphinx
  7. *sings* It's awfully considerate of you to think of me here And I'm much obliged to you for making it clear That I'm not here. And I never knew we could be so thick And I never knew we could be so blue And I'm grateful that you threw away my old shoes And brought me here instead dressed in red Barrett-era Pink Floyd is a completely different beast than Waters/Gilmoure-era PF. Ive listened a lot to Syd Barretts work with Pink FLoyd aswell as his two solo albums, it has some interesting quirks but it just gets bloody annoying to listen to after a while.
  8. And thats correct info too. Unlike Sweden, in the US and other places you can simply pay the store (like EB games or whatever) to put your games on the sales toplist. Its not a lie, I heard it straight from the mouth of the CEO of Paradox Publishing. Still, I dont think all fo that is included in the box. Maybe 2-3 items at most. Other online retailers have different content listed too.
  9. Sorry, but I think that bit that I highlighted falls within the "stupid arguments" category. " You see, you don't have to see the extra dimensions to prove String theory true; all you have to do is find some sort of indirect evidence of the theory. For example, if the theory were to predict that a new particle exists and shows up when certain conditions are met, all you'd have to do is create an environment where those conditions happen, and soon you'd be able to prove that String theory is true (in a way). <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thats exactly the kind of experiment I was referring to. If someone was able to perform such an experiment then I would of course admit that String Theory is on to something. You either read too much or to little into my post. random fact of joy: I got firefox to work on Linux, hooray!! )
  10. It's brilliantly bad. Made at the same time as Star Wars (1977) and with a decent budget, this film feels more like it belongs in the outer-space days of hollywood in the 1950's than the time it was made.
  11. The thing is that I agree with them. I can tolerate realtime combat, but I think its a poor compromise.
  12. But that is because all of the 4 supposed CRPG's that Bethesda has done, have blatantly violated the holy rules above. And theyve even been so bold to say that theyll keep on doing it in future games.
  13. Yeh, I think Ive spammed forth enough stupid arguments already. But the thing with String theory and its vast number of extra dimensions, as opposed to Thermodynamics or Gravity, is that we cannot even come close to proving any of its predictions through experiments as we can with other theories. It could be a relatively good way to make calculations on the universe, but it could also be complete nonsense. That last part seems to be forgotten, as string theory is uniformly hailed as the next holy grail of science in the media.
  14. I wish people would just take MY definition of what qualifies as a CRPG and go with that as the official one. It would make things much easier. But what is it that they say at the codex again? :D Must be turn-based You must be able to change the course of the story by your actions and choices in the game You must be able to create your own character Must have the option of having a party of NPCs with you Must be non-linear Must have plenty of dialogue Think that was it.
  15. I made a thread aboot it on the BioWare forum. Someone has probably explained it in some thread there already, but their forums are so slow and clunky that it would take ages to find it. http://nwn2forums.bioware.com/forums/viewt...488172&forum=95 edit: theyve enabled autocensorship on the word " Bio-you-know-what" ?
  16. Thats what I thought. Its a straight giveaway when they, in the description, go on and on about skills, equipment and levelling but not a word about story or anything like that.
  17. I found this game listed under the RPG section on my usual retailers site and a guy from Uni who was at E3 was apparently very impressed with what he saw of it there. But it doesnt seem like an RPG at all from the description, more like some action game. Has anyone tried it?
  18. One thing is weird though; they sell a pre-order version where you will get a toolkit sent home before NWN2 actually is released, but on the BioWare forums they state that this pre-toolkit will actually just be the one from NWN1. Whats the point of that? Youll have to redo most of the module in the NWN2 toolkit AND everyone who is into NWN modding already have NWN1 Rhombman> I dont know if theyre the best, but http://www.webhallen.com/prod.php?id=60746 are cheap and quick, if you live in Stockholm you can just take the subway there. If you do that youll get to choose which C.E you want too.. they come in both a "good" and an "evil" box. They do prioritise pre-orders differently though, I know one of my orders got quite delayed because they thought it was more important to ship some MMO expansion.
  19. My store has this listed in the co ntents of the C.E Neverwinter Nights 2 Collector's Edition Content:
  20. I dont think they will change this in Bf2142 either. On most levels in Bf2 you cant capture the enemies most rearward base, but you can be annoying and grab a fast vehicle and drive around capping bases when the enemy is somewhere else. I just had a really good idea on how I would do it completely without capturable bases bt I suppose Id better save it for my portfolio.
  21. Well, then you show me something real, anything, that cant be drawn in 3D
  22. Well, this screenshot from 3ds MAX shows exactly how I see theworld/reality/the universe/whatever. Youve got width (X) height (Y) depth (Z) and the timeline in the bottom. Your basic four dimensions with a fourth representing time. Everything that can be illustrated within this is real.. like a ball bouncing off a wall, an atom being ionized or light bending in the gravity well of a superdense body etc. If it CANT be illustrated within this, then it cant exist... like a hypercube or anything else that require an extra dimension or two to work. Now when you ask my dad the engineer what dimensions exist, he says length, mass, electric current and time. So, clearly the word "dimension" has a whole bunch of different meanings and we're only arguing semantics.
  23. And to counter that.. a golden classic
  24. Mary broke the heavens once by sneezing too loudly, Tom got his ribs broken by walking too proudly They're both okay now, lift their feet high at the promenade Tom's actually gay, but the two make a fine masquerade ( poetry sucks )
