Our consciousness or mind as we know it, consists of electric and chemical currents in the brain. When we sleep, they operate on a different level but they do not shut down. So your sleep argument is a completely faulty one, created by your misconception of what consciousness is.

The only real critiscism that can be implied to Wikipedia is that its retelling of events will be a compromise between the views of the different sides, whereas as an encyclopedia article written by one person will not have to compromise. An example of this is anything related to Israel/Palestine where anything except for the most established an non-controversial accounts of the conflict are promptly edited out by pro-israeli or pro-palestinian contributors.

Nope, I still dont like MMO's
Kaftan Barlast replied to Kaftan Barlast's topic in Computer and Console
We tried to team up while playing at school today but we had problems in that our characters were of very different levels, so we would encounter enemies we couldt beat because we had a lvl9 in our team, and our level2 wouldnt get any XP from the encounters we did survive. There is supposed to be some kind of system in the game that fixes this but we didnt find how to use it. -

So, youd effectively commit suicide whereupon a perfect copy of yourself would materialize wherever you initially wanted to go? Id prefer to remain alive and travel through ordinary means, thankyou very much.

I think single+multiplayer moddable games after the NWN concept holds much more possibilities than an MMO could ever provide. You have: -Singeplayer with story -Multiplayer co-op with a select group of friend -Persistent World communities offering everything from PvP to hacking monsters with yer mates In CoV, you and your group runs your own race, other players running around adds absolutely nothing to the game, it actually takes away any RP feeling to have "Lord Refrigerator Pants" bunnyjump around you blasting off random powers while youre tying to stay in-character. I think it would be better to have a lobby where players could meet everyone on the server and then completely separate copies of the game world for each group to play around in, undisturbed. I understand some MMO's like D&DO is already trying this approach. Of course youd also need some sort of "big hostile place" where the PvPers could get their kicks... possibly in the form of classic FPS clan matches where one group sets a date to battle another(which is present in CoV's stronghold system) -

What does that mean? Im not familiar with MMO-lingo. And what should I have chosen if I want to be a corruptor that just spams damaging things on the enemy? -

Yeah, I just picked it because I liked the sound of it. None of really have any experience of CoV/CoH so we're stumbling in the dark. How do I get from the starting place to the ISland where they have the shop where you can change your appearance? -

Apart from the slightly muddled academic game design term of change, the world of Fallout changes significantly from the start of the game to the finish. There are very few games, if any, where the world(not "the world" but the enviroments the player moves through) remains completely static from start to finish. -
I got a free 14day trial and some dodgy geezers at school made me try it. Its very pretty and its fun to make characters, in fact, it more fun to make characters than play. No matter which MMO it is, they still fail on the regular key issues. This is the hypothesis of Kaftan: You cant have a story where the protagonists outnumber every villain and supporting act by 100:1 You cant change a world that has to appear the same to a million players Without a story or a world they can change, the player is stuck with performing trivial tasks that have no effect on the world around them. Since performing trivial tasks and being unable to actually accomplish anything is boring, MMO's are boring* ) *except to MMO fans

What should Kaftan, Mkreku and Checkpoin vote for?

How many people voted in that election anyway? Was it more than 50% of those eligible? -
How do you program a real AI then? We have a doctoree at Uni who is part of some internationa projct to program an entire virtual brain, but its far too advanced stuff for an artist like me.

I wish the state would pour a couple of tax millions on our Uni so they could afford to send us to conferences like this. Now we'll have to make due with a podcast -
Sure, back when nobody was educated or capable of travelling more than a few miles from their homes. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Still a Mullah telling you that if you deviate, not only will you and your family be harassed, assaulted or even murdered by the police/islamist groups/state police... but you will also burn in hell forever after you've died horribly... is a pretty convincing argument not to stick your neck out.

There are already hundreds if not thousands of small parties already, but the 4% rule effectively stops them from gaining a foothold in the parliament. If you want to change anything politicly, you need to join one of the big parties and attempt to drive your own agenda in a sneaky and clandestine way -
Well, its good Im not a programmer and the game with that AI was a flash game.. maybe you cant even call something like AI, all it did was make one sprite move randomly when the player reached a certain position in the grid.

Swedish politicians are too PC to touch the immigration question, so what we get is very vague. I dont believe any of the major parties will change anything with regards to immigration. Folkpartiet caused a big fuss about demanding that Immigrants take a basic swedsh language class or lose their wellfare money, what they failed to say is that we've already got this in the majority of kommuner/regions/municipals/buroughs. Our problem, as with every other country, is not immigration but migration. Economical migration. Companies are outsourcing everything to southeast asia and no one is doing a damn thing about it even though tens of thousand of people lose their jobs every year because of it. Entire cities become crippled as 60% of the population becomes unemployed when the local Ericsson factory closes. And we just sit by and watch while they drill holes in the bottom of our boat. -
Im just wondering why you want a Shuttlebox? Will you be moving the computer around a lot? I have a Shuttle that I used as a LAN computer because it was so tiny and easy to carry around but it got so hot it fried my hardrive and I had to run it with the casing off or the GFX couldnt get any air for cooling.

Heh, Ive actually met the CEO of Paradox. I dont think theyre in the least concerned about 15year old out-of-print editions of some hokey RPG they bought the rights to. I saw Drakar och Demoner v.6 and I didnt like that at all as it was IMO a step backwards in that it had fixed classes and levels and so on like D&D. From wikipedia theyre now on v.8, have they gone back to a more advanced system? Oh heck.. someone around here has got to have a book.

For a party to make it to make it into parliament, they must get atleast 4% of the total votes. That is far beyond what any non-established party can hope to score, so a vote for a small party is a waste of time. Well, there is the local elections where a small party can snag a place in the Kommunfullm -
Well, if you want to Ive got some shabby PDF copies of the three basic rulebooks. The copyright went out the window ten years ago so its perfectly legal.

Its now seven days to the Swedish elections which will decide if we get a new goverment or go with the old one. The problem is that we've got two bad things to choose from. The situation looks like this: Left Wing: Has ruled Sweden for the majority of the 20th century up until now, with scattered 4 year periods of rightwing goverment. Their tactic is to simply sit and wait while everything goes downhill because change can make the situation even worse. Essentially a conservative view. Right Wing: Will make reforms if elected but many of those will be classic rightwing "bad moves" like privatising healthcare and lowering taxes that we cant afford to go any lower. My dilemma is wether to vote for the Right Wing and hope that things will get better since the left wing wont do anything, OR to vote for a smaller party that I can stand behind but that has no chance of even getting into parlament. What do you suggest?
