I think the people who actually believed 512mb was the minimum are the stupid ones " "NWN2 wont run unless I paint my monitor green?! Oh. I guess Id better go get the paint then."

Building a new PC one piece at a time

Yes, and you need to check the specific performance of the PSU aswell. You need one that can push around +20Ampere at 12volts to be able to run GFX's reliably -
I Can Now Dominate NWN2 Pitiful Reccommendations

That's probably because it's the requirement. SP2 likely provides no benefits for running NWN2, so you barely meet the minimum requirements because your OS is the minimum requirements. If say, this game required only Windows 98 SE, you'd probably get a full score (assuming it worked in XP) with XP because it's above and beyond what you need. You need XP to play the game, and if you have XP, you are meeting the requirements. There's nothing better (Windows-wise) out there. You'll notice that if you switch to recommended requirements, the score shifts to be one above what you need. I understand this line of thought, but I would have done it so that you got full score with XP and maybe half if had an OS that could run the game but wasnt ideal, like Win 2000 or similar. My computer got around 75% overall, but Im not going to upgrade to 2gb of RAM until I get a an Intel C2D/775 system with DDR2 -
Now this is actually not on the "Bad things" list for me. The Gothic games have always been difficult. That's kind of part of their trademark. I'm actually worried that the game will be too easy, since they (Piranha Bytes) were aiming for the North American market. We will see soon.. after the second patch has been released. That's when I'm planning on installing the game. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I didnt think Gothic 2 was especially hard with the levelling curve fixed with the Night of the Raven patch. Before that it was a nightmare though, you had to scour the land of every bit of EXP you could grind just to be able to make it through the Orc pass alive. Still, you had to whore the AI exploits and whatnot to kill some enemies.

The fun thing with this test is that you wont get a full OS score even if you run WinXP with the latest SP and updates -
Dont know about the coding but I plan to use my UML-type program to plan NWN2 modules. It will be great for seeing how every area in the module is tied together

Dont forget that a 600w PSU will not go full blast on your bill unless you're using your computer to full blast, they're are not lightbulbs you know? -
Mr. Sawyer Owns Us All With NWN2!!!
Kaftan Barlast replied to Volourn's topic in Computer and Console
There are far better looking Drow in the game, Ive looked through most races and their face variations in the toolset. Still ECL +2 means the OC will be a bitch for drizzt fanboys -
The choice the devs have is either cut out large parts of the story to allow for the random death of party members, or to make them unkillable so they will be there for the story parts which require their presence. Until we get true AI which can alter the story instantly and in a satisfying way to compensate for anything the player wants to do, we have to compromise. Personally I like story more than player freedom so I dont mind KOTOR systems.

Havent you got it yet, Mkreku? Or have webhallen given delivery priority to some dodgy MMO expansion as usual?

Mr. Sawyer Owns Us All With NWN2!!!

Sort of off-topic, but I think Josh deserve a lot of credit for being the only dev who has the patience and calm required to actually interact with the fan community. With the ignorance and sheer stupidity of some people, its a miracle that he can put up with it -
The NWN2 editor uses only OE's proprietary format for 3D models which is called *.MDB It has been said that an exporter plugin for 3D Studio MAX wil be released eventually, but fans have already begun to reverse-engineer the format. Thread at BioWare forums So far it can only export the meshes, UV coordinates and diffuse maps to *.OBJ but he's working on it

Yes its the same here(game development University) 40% of the programmers dropped out in the first year. Mostly because they werent prepared and didnt know the basics, but also because they also lacked the drive to learn.

The alignment which makes the least sense to me is "Chaotic Evil". It symbolises just a random, erratic, instinctual desire to cause harm and mayhem without any real plan or agenda. Where is the fun/challenge in that? Its especially odd when its applied to organisations and deities who very clearly have an agenda an a very elaborate hierarchy. Like Lolth and the Drow in my campaign, they could very well be Lawful Evil with all their dogma but theyre CE in the books

What Ive found to be bothersome about programming is that you need to be so awfully clever. As you all may know, I had my brain replaced with a monkey due to an accident and since then I ..you know the rest.

I dont think this is going very far since its been proved that the sensation and imaginary memories of "alien abductions" are caused by irregular brain activity during sleep.

It's a Planescape campaign but following the deities etc. of the forgotten realms. Now, anyone with spellcraft would notice if the cleric started casting blatantly evil spells so naturally, she wont do that. The question is more wether they would notice if something was wrong just by watching her cast perfecly normal clerical spells such as "cure light wounds"
-
It would have been fun if a magasin would have temporarily hired someone like Baas Rutten as a critic and sent him in the ring.

Im going to risk having the power of google ruin the surprise for my players by spelling out the exact scenario: The party has picked up an additional PC which presented herself as a cleric of Ellistraee(good deity). In truth, she is an cleric of Lolth(evil deity) which has infiltrated the party in order to lure the player to find a powerful artifact that really should be left alone. Now, is there any way for the party to expose the iniltrator just by studying the way she casts spells? The party contains a Wizard(detect magic, spellcraft) and a ranger(has some divine spells). The Lolth cleric carries a magical headband of "undetectable alignment" to prevent them from trying a simple "detect evil"

I dont think Crysis is going to run well on anything less than a monster SLI system.
-
Ive got a really detailed and geeky question: In D&D, you can use spellcraft to figure out which spell an opponent casts and detect magic to see magical objects etc. But is there any way to see what deity fuels a divine spell? (except seeing what symbol he is waving and if hes shouting "the power of Gruumsh comples you!" ) Like, could you see if a cleric follows Tyr or Helm just by feeling the spell? Could a Tyr cleric fool people to believe he is a Nerull cleric?

The beta-test toolset came with a test module but for some reaon they removed it from the presale version. I cant really see why they did that.

That looks pretty much exactly like an old Gf6000 series card with a bit of homebrew plumbing added. I very much doubt Nvidia would releease a card that required watercooling since few people have the basic skills required to set it up.

Im not sure Im allowed to post screens as part of the license agreement but youll see something once I get this home on a proper computer. My laptop only has a weak ATI x700
