  1. Then it's no longer the same community is it. Which is what Darque is getting at. It's like when a pub shuts, people move on but it's highly unlikely they will all pick the same pub. Change is inevitable, I think it's been 4 or 5 different boards from BIS to here. Shifting NwNII to Bioware was pretty much it , because with nothing to talk about most people would drift away anyway.
  2. They probably want someone accountable in the hotseat.
  3. Maybe they will sublet Biowares forum space.. Makes sense in a way at least until they have a new game to announce.
  4. I'd have to go with IWD. BG had that over abundance of arrows which made it incredibly easy. Think thats one reason I played a Paladin who wouldnt use missile weapons, of course the rest of the party could level a city block with the number of explosion arrows they had. BG II was too samey, casters all over the place same series of spells over and over.
  5. Try looking beyond the words into the meanings of the code.
  6. Someone is confusing wimpy with humble and self sacrifice. The Jedi may have seen the result of the Mandalorian wars before they ever happened.
  7. It's a missprint in the guide most likely. If you want to find lots of good stuff do Koriban as planet number I.
  8. Purpose of leveling is to see parts of the world you couldnt see if you didnt. Would be a very strange world if a Dragon was as tough as a rat wouldnt it Leveling isnt the only way of course. I played FF II recently and it's system was totally alien to my ethos. Which is put things down fast and hard and only use magic for a big punch. After about 8 hours my characters got to a point where a single blow would kill them. Because they hadnt been beaten up enough to raise their hp's.
  9. Thats why they brought out the S. After using the Xbox one for a while the PS2 one feels quite small but I'm quite used to going between all three of them. KOTOR II is a joy to play with a controller , find it hard to imagine with a keyboard. Still prefer mouse for the odd RTS.
  10. If you could only use powers that complimented your alignment then there would be a point to being neutral. Since that would be the only place you could draw from both sides of the force.
  11. You can always try Sudeki. More RPGish than DA very colourful too. GC and PS2 has the best RPGs though so if it's an RPG craze (like a shoe craze) then you will probably end up buying one of those two. Quick list of Xbox "RPGS" 1. Third Age well worth a look , nice story , but relies too much on movie clip voiceovers. 2. Sudeki - see above. 3. Crimson Sea actiony but good. 4. Arx Fatalis (never played it on the Xbox). 5. Metal Dungeon (one of the first practically give away price now). 6. Shenmue II sort of an RPG/Beatumup/puzzle game fun but a bit difficult to get into unless your into beatumups. 7. Morrowind. Large empty and really not my type of game. Some people love the openess of it though. I'd recomend Sudeki and Third Age.
  12. I think they look like drugged out vampires. Or perhaps games designers after crunch time.
  13. Never played any of them. Prior to the PS2 I only owned one or two console games each generation. There should be two Warhammer RTS games, but I dont know if they ever got a console release. It's quite possible that RTS suffers the same problem I had with FPS for a long time. The controls are so alien to what has become instinct that its just painful to play them.
  14. Already moved on Fun game ,vaule for money nothing more to ask of a developer. Playing the Xbox version might have helped but having seen the state of PC software in general I wouldnt blame anyone for PC bugs without some real evidence.
  15. A great story, but one that never forgets you are playing a game. Characters which evoke emotion, combat that dosnt bog the game down.
  16. One of the nice things about KOTOR II is you can be darkside without being a total jerk. Just play the "might makes right" line and then, as you become more and more corrupt just go with it. If you do help people make sure you do it for your own benifit etc. It's even possible to go DS just dispensing rough justice (to the badguys) choose the angry and hateful responses and you willl be there in no time. Force dominate is a must for playing the darkside too. Even as DS I still did things like side with the Ithorians (easier to push around than Czerka) Help the people on Dantoonine then have them spend those 4000 creds on a huge statue in my honour. Just because you choose a side, dosnt mean you cant slip up occasionaly or show a shred of humanity. One of my LS characters totally lost it on Dxun when confronted with the Mandalorians.
  17. I've yet to see an RTS game work on a console. Personally I'd avoid that area like the plauge. Ultimately it depends if this is a pre NwNII or post NwN II game. Phosphor look up the number of pre orders Dragon Warriors 8 had then talk about mass market appeal
  18. Your more likely to die on the lower settings because you have less hp's for longer and it's all about odds in the end. While in theory the higher setting means you get hit more and for more damage, in practice I never found that to overcome the extra levels. Higher setting will allow you to level faster, but you will also hit the cap before halfway which isnt that much fun when you think about it. Just enjoy yourself. Mess around with the slider play an encounter, then play the same one with a different setting see which you like best.
  19. Thats what happens when you remove a level cap. As level caps are rather unpopular anyway this is just the result of that. You seem to be missing out on the big picture here. Your modding the game for yourself presumably to some sort of "advanced" level. The designers didnt make the game for an advanced level. KOTOR is very much entry level as far as complexity goes. KOTOR is a mainstream product from top to toe. For you maybe. I think this one just sticking to unmodified items would prove more interesting. Familiarity with the system is another reason this one might appear easier too. If I hadnt replayed KOTOR just before I got KOTOR II and never really been challenged I may have agreed.
  20. Depends if your a sentinel or not. Be assured you can still fail a save and get pummeled (at least from what I read on one of the Kreia threads). Having the cap removed dosnt help. In KOTOR you got to level 15+ quite late in the game which is when all the really showy powers occur. In KOTOR II you were level 16 on your first planet. No arguement there True enough, but it's something I do with all games anyway. Using the base items should keep the game intact rather than doing artificial things to increase the difficulty. Big difference between a blaster hitting for 8-11 and one hitting for 18-51. I've only really played KOTOR once. I did practice for KOTOR II with a consular and never really found much problem with combat. Possibly because everything has a really poor AC in KOTOR?
  21. In BG the difficulty slider didnt really work. The higher levels gave more Xp which meant you hit the cap that much faster (or once the cap was removed just leveled beyond the difficulty curve). I can only qualify that from my own experiences. I cant say that the difficulties dont work because that would apply to every RPG I have played recently (perhaps with 4D star ocean an exception). They dont work for me that much is clear and has been for several years. Thats really the only way you can tailor the game to your own desires and do it for everyone. Let the player dictate the "rules of the game". The bottom line their though is that most players couldnt handle that and would end up screwing it up anyway. The fact you dont like most of the mods really just backs up that you cant please everyone and the people writing these things are doing it from their particular vision of the game difficulty where as a designer needs to take a much more macro view. No I said making a game that I and someone who has never played a game before would both find challenging (without frustrating the new guy) would be a close to zero chance. You would have to take deviations from the D20 system up with Bioware. They sowed that particular seed. No as a matter of fact I dont know it at all , neither do you either for that matter. We may know that we find the game easy and that other people with previous experience find the game easy but thats hardly a sweeping majority. If I do actually come across an RPG with some modicum of difficulty I'll be sure to let you know.
  22. The more evidence you have (see the above post) the less influence you need for that particular dialogue.
  23. Sounds about right. Thats why I think the drug anology works for the darkside. It makes you powerful fast, but its addictive it warps your body and mind making you less in touch with those around you and giving you a superiority complex. Eventually it consumes you and leaves you an empty husk. Jedi on the other hand go to the gym and eat a healthy diet. It takes longer but they are stronger in the end.
  24. I'm not. Thats a really big IF. Like I said the chance of balancing a game for me to find challenging and Mr first time gamer to find challenging WITHOUT warping the rules beyond recognition are close to zero. Adding extra HP's increasing damage etc dont work if your not getting hit. Thats the reason you have mods. People have this vision of the game their way so they mod it. That applies even to complete and succeful games.Complete or not has nothing to do with it. It's just a case of the game not meeting someones "perfect fantasy" whether it not be hard enough, or they dont have enough points to meet their vision of uber or whatever. I never liked the cut content anyway. Glad it went never want to see it again, or see Obsidian follow that particular forced storytelling route either. Your never going to make everyone happy.
  25. If you have a PC your not exactly spoiled for choice when it comes to RPGs.
