Go West. (Not the beach, but west out the gate near the mortician's house). Because you level up very quickly in early game, just doing a couple of quests in a slightly easier area suddenly makes a big difference in your being able to deal with those things. This is not the case in the next area (Silverglen), where you can do things in almost any order. Very helpful, thanks, I somehow missed the west gate. Even though I got lost, I prefer that over strictly linear paths.

What's with the unceasing mendacious invective for TR, pal. Eh, nevermind. Ignore list--you're welcome to it.

That's funny. Luthor knows who Bruce Wayne is, now, too.

I'm keen for an RPG set 500 years ago in the Far East. I don't know much about the period, but a third-person sandbox in that setting could really break the mold. Something unique, rife with characters, classes, and items that are new and exciting, if not slightly familiar: factions, war, monsters, magic, weapons, crafting. Imagine rogues are ninja, fighters as samurai, dark paladin ronin ...

Still can't find Ready Player One at the walk-in bookstore, even though their computer says it's right there, on the shelf, still. So I settled for this, which came out Tuesday. The tip of the new edition iceberg rolling out in hardcover, August for Player's Handbook, Monster Manual in September, and DM's Guide November. Comes with a big-ass game module, twice the size of the included rulebook. Also a character sheet template, plus half-a-dozen pre-made. And of course dice: d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, and d20 colored in pretty cote d'azur blue marble with white numbers. Printing quality, art, and readability are first-rate. Paper is glossy and staple-bound only. This is the first D&D box I've picked up since maybe Kara-Tur Forgotten Realms many days ago. I don't know, there's just something about this all-new Fifth Edition that feels right, and good.

How fun, that looks like a primo rig, for sure. Positively oceanic levels of RAM. Something I've always wondered with blu-ray writers, is whether you can take screenshots from commercial discs--or if the HDCP, or whatever, prevents that. All my favorite movies are on blu-ray, and I enjoy capturing screens for avatars and stuff, but DVDs are just too low-res.

Bonkers overkill if you're playing at a resolution of 1080. You mentioned multiple monitors, and in that case the 290 is good value, I just don't see how anyone can stand two black vertical monitor frame bezels in the center of their gameplay. One display, one life, right.

God damn it that's it, I'm not reading this thread again until the Mario Kart bundle is back in stock somewhere.

Asking for people's opinions--no, that ain't how it began. You said this game is stupid and you'll never buy it, here's why ... Thought you were normally reasonably cogent, but not in this thread.

Hell yes, came in from a 12-hour day outside and found an Amazon Gold Box Deal in my inbox ... the original Cosmos series by Carl Sagan for $39. Today only. 780 minutes of Carl's dreamy voice telling me it's okay to be alive and marvel at the universe. BOOM!

Yeah, no kidding, for that kind of money, you can have two blondes, a redhead, and Japanese twins. Keeping the same monitor or upgrading that, too. For DIY, I would stay at 1080p and put the cash into a single GPU system (R9 280, at most) with all solid-state storage. Even though I'm an AMD guy, it's almost a crime against performance to not recommend Intel CPU.

Will someone create a World Cup thread, already?

Man, you realy get super excited about the most random things. The rails ended some time ago, but the train continues, somehow, inexorably. Is the game on TV today ... I don't have cable. I see they're shutting down a city block here, for the final. It's as if Americans care about soccer. In real football news, pre-season starts August 7, Cowboys, Chargers. Finally! -
Dudes are boring to play, unless they're behind a mask and wear black and have twin weapons like cool guys do, Snake Eyes. Unless ... well, I'm really looking forward to The Last of Us Remastered in two weeks, and it's supposed to have a pretty cool unmasked male protagonist. But yeah, like, even all the comics I read are about the ladies ... Black Widow, She-Hulk, Wonder Woman, Elektra ... Still tottering around in Cyseal, talking to guards, going through portals ... I tried not very hard to fight a big orc on the beach but he turned red and pummeled all three of us.

It's the little things that keep me putting one foot in front of the other--like new Honey-Comb cereal with Twisted Marshmallows. Oh yeah, it's in the cupboard right now, fresh, unopened, waiting ...

Meanwhile, near the wellspring of all things role-playing, I noticed today the new edition of Dungeons & Dragons will encourage freedom of thought regarding sexual identity and behavior. For the first time ever, that I'm aware of. From the just-released, free PDF of Basic Rules ... I'm struck by the common sense of it, and it's neat that Wizards acknowledges freedom of choice in an RPG without beating my brow over social justice--as do the caricatures of cRPG's seem inclined. If Obsidian could replicate this happy inclusivity in a streak-free finish, then I'd be in favor of a storied PoE intimacy. The ick of inclusion for the sake of inclusion appears to be too much, at this point, though.

Rub it in, man, rub it right in. The MK8 bundle is still un-damn-available.

Well if the number of times I swore out loud, in surprise, is any indication ... Extant is a masterpiece. I probably blurted more OMG's, WTF's, HS's, and JH.C's than any show in recent memory, sci-fi or no sci-fi. Ms. Berry just garnered infinity respect from this viewer, after that performance, HS. Production values off the charts. Totally, refreshingly unpredictable.
