  1. To make things even more interesting they shoud consider giving her a beard. THAT would deviate from standard fantasy beauty, Terry Pratchetts dwarf excluded. Especially if you could romance her
  2. Yes, and this is a definitive improvement over this. Sagani does not look to standartised as well Still, another companion who fits clichees less will also be included... Maybe PE will become an example for other games in this regard. One can only hope. It is simply a bonus imo. Sad truth: Men will go for almost anything, so a skinny, foxfaced thief will be asked for certain favors as well as a bombshell, should it come to that. Thus, it is surely possible for an attractive woman to become head of the thiefs guild, but its more likely that an average-looking woman with skills will have the position, simply because there are more average-looking women out there (thats the point of average after all). And the beautiful one might prefer the life of a prostitute, because its definitely less illegal and risky than being a thief.
  3. Skyrim is much better than Oblivion, to say the least... though I prefer Morrowind as well. Skyrim really is too easy, in terms of handholding. The sense of exploration is much stronger in Morrowind. The "Strings of Mephala"-Quest for example was great, for example, because you did not even know it existed and sold relevant items early in the game, so it increased replay value. It was about the journey, not the reward
  4. Mount & Blade had women characters in single player which were definitively suffering from sexism (male lords mostly hated them, it was harder to get successful etc.) which made it quite intrigueing to play a woman and to overcome these difficulties with skill in fighting or manipulation. The game should thematise sexism, but not be sexist. It is a fine line to walk for sure, but it would add realism and another level of gameplay.
  5. I agree on the "well taken care of", but not on "attractive". Imo these are two very different things. They would be rather slim, bony or muscular and definitely not along the lines of the standard ppw. Look at Brienne from Game of Thrones for example. Well-trained, well taken care of body? Yes. Attractive? Not from her looks - maybe from her principles. Jaime Lannister definitely sees something in her.
  6. Interesting. Do you have a link? edit: Well, i found one. But it has been closed. Is there a policy not to talk about this topic? If so, please close or delete my thread.
  7. As I read the thread about armor and weapon design, I wondered: "What will the women in PE be like?" I don't know if it has been discussed already. But I am fairly sick of the standartised perfectly proportionated women (ppw) in most games. It is simply unrealistic, especially if it involves breast-formed armor, total lack of armor or a fantasy-version of stilettos. That does not mean that I don't want good-looking women, as there are well-proportioned men in any fantasy universe as well. I only ask two things: 1.) An average distribution of the population in regards to beauty and body-size and yes, that should go for companions as well, especially the romanceable ones. Reducing every warrior women to her looks first and her skills second is kinda primitive - and i dont want to go into the average muscle mass (or the unrealistic lack thereof) of a standard ppw. 2.) A new definition of beauty in games, less fixated on the body proportions and more focused on character, all in all. Top models may be good-looking, but not the kind of women you want to spend your life with. Stop regarding minor fallacies in looks far more important than intelligence, character and the likes, dear co-gamers! The weather after this post could turn definitively ragey, with a chance of ****storm, so let me clarify: Yes, as a male I am attracted to ppw. But as an intelligent human I like women with "a special something", or character, or whatever you call it far more. And I certainly do not want all women in PE to be "ugly, but with character" or "fat, but with personality" or whatever crossed your mind while reading this. I just wished that the gaming community, developers and players aside, would expand their definition of beauty. And maybe in this game, which does not need to show screenshots of ppw anymore to find interest, it will finally be possible.
  8. Dragons are somewhat clichee by now, having seen a lot of incarnations over the years, in films and games and books as well. Many dragons are rather animalistic, mindless creatures (though they possess a natural cunning) while others are intelligent and even have "good" and "bad" incarnations. That being said, dragons in games are rarely depicted as powerful as their abilities suggest. Even Skyrim, which had a lot of dragons, failed to show their destructive power (a scripted intro nonwithstanding) to the fullest extent. After a while they became quite "normal" enemies, spawning from time to time, but only a few of them were memorable. Even Alduin, after destroying the starting village, never attacked the strongholds with his followers. If there are dragons in PE, their destructive potential should be shown. In Baldurs Gate, Dragons were really rare and every one of them had a backstory, motivations and intentions (I remember vividly fighting against Firkraag. It was the fight you would remember asides from Irenicus and Bodhi). So, if there are dragons in PE, they should be memorable as well, ancient and destructive powers. Aaaand - to get to my point - thus it would be difficult to give player characters their abilities. Maybe when they are really, really strong, in the endgame. There might even be aspects of their abilities which you can use (Dragons Breath, Dragons Flight), showing how early mages adored them and tried to be like them. But turning into one of them? It takes away the mystery and sense of wonder that dragons can still imbue - even after all these years.
  9. Of course there need to be quiet moments! All fighting is rather boring. If there are creatures there, they need a reason for their existence. And puzzles are always great fun.
  10. Seriously, a badly done 3-level-dungeon can be far more boring than a good 15-level-dungeon. I mean, there are games that take place ONLY in a dungeon (Arx Fatalis for example) and still can be intrigueing. I trust the developers to know that
  11. no no no, your forgot earthquake and collapsed exit after defeat of final boss. So no exit. Really. Sorry but you go and start new game. I think we all saw the problem with Piccolos approach about 10 pages ago But we can discuss it for three more pages, because this thread needs at least as many pages as the dungeon will have levels. At least!
  12. I think that its feeling should have a theme, though I couldn't say which one (in fact, knowing would kind of ruin the surprise...) The theme should get more prominent the deeper you go. Standard castle at the top, lost civilization, other dimension, greater horror, eldritch structures etc. in the depths.
  13. Planescape Torment. Its just too good. But Arcanum, Deus Ex, Baldurs Gate and Gothic (1&2) are candidates as well
  14. Baldurs Gate is a great game of epic fantasy, Planescape Torment is a great game of philosophy and strangeness. I prefer PST, but i love BG as well. I don't know why you should have to decide between them... Edit: Meaning I agree with you, but don't see the point of the poll.
  15. I'd keep them separate as well. Nothing against a village close to your stronghold which you can save from something, then improve and fortify... but a whole city? You can't build that realistically over the course of a game and if it is just some Assassins-Creed-like saving of shops or whatever, it simply won't be the same. That having been said, of course the stronghold might be connected to the city, being an old outpost of the government in power which you are sent to defend or something. Also, one might find retainers and servants in the city, being able to bring some to the stronghold etc.
  16. I figure that Calmar is right. So many people are talking about "Project Eternity" already, they would be foolish not to use that name. Seeing that "Eternity" is a quite nice name for a fantasy rpg anyway, it would work well
  17. I would have liked becoming part of the Order... so I regret not having seen that earlier. Ah well. And maybe the playing cards. But it would have been a waste. I would never have played with them. I would have locked them away, safe and secure, only to take them out from time to time and stare longingly at them... I just work this way *sigh*
  18. Oh dear, yes! I can only sign this plea: No overdimensional swords. No revealing unrealistic armor for women (it has become a really boring clichee by now). And please, no kind of armor that no sensible person would wear because of the weight or overdimensioned parts. There is so much good-looking, realistic armor out there - stick to that, dear developers.
  19. This is turning the endless dungeon into an endless discussion. Which is kinda pointless At least we do know in detail now that Piccolo stands to his beliefs, strange as though they may be. I guess we will see multiple exits anyway, given that many players want them - as has been seen here - and in the end those who are against them will just have to do what was suggested in the first pages of this thread: Ignore them, if they don't like them.
  20. Once a week, or once every two weeks, depending on the games progress...
  21. Oh dear, Lichs. I'd rather have the opportunity to become a vampire. But thats a personal preference i guess :D And I could live witch Liches as well.
  22. Maybe a dungeon in the spirit of the old-fashioned ones but with a new twist...
  23. They should take as much time as they need. (Okay, five years would be too long). But I'd rather wait years for a good game instead of playing another rushed one like KotoR II, which terribly disappointed me
  24. Is it the Invisible Pink Unicorn? Then maybe people really didn't see it. Back to topic: Maybe you could also find a group of adventurers that just realised they are all related (and children of some god)... and then its just a minor, irrelevant god like Brokken, God of item durability.
  25. I missed my chance to make a mark in the gaming world as well. Seeing as that I simply don't have the money, well... its good that there are dedicated AND rich gamers out there who will put all their love into their NPC/Item/Whatever and enrich the world of Project Eternity!
