PoE sells 500K units
AndreaColombo replied to Eisenheinrich's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
If you check GoG's list of RPGs and sort by best selling, there are 12 games ahead of The Witcher 3. Not sure where I got the 1mm copies sold information about D:OS. I wrote by memory but I too cannot find any sources. It passed the 500,000 mark in September 2014 according to Wikipedia so it's not unlikely that it made it to 1,000,000 one year thereafter but at this point it is just speculation. -
Not sure whether next patch is 3.00 or 2.04, but Josh's been teasing some of the changes on Twitter. https://twitter.com/jesawyer/status/666663042713653248 https://twitter.com/jesawyer/status/666663156266065920 https://twitter.com/jesawyer/status/666667016615428097 EDIT: https://twitter.com/jesawyer/status/666682184950874112

Fulmineo Prondroni, eh? Very interested in the Cipher build. I usually play ranged Ciphers (and usually have more focus than I can spend as my Cipher micro is about as abysmal as my SCII APM) but that might as well change. ...aand now I'm toying with the idea of a dual-wielding Fighter with Bittercut because Spirit of Decay. Or maybe I'll do a Rogue. Decisions, decisions...

Barbarian Companion?
AndreaColombo replied to Heijoushin's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
^ Not necessarily I loved the Vithrack art and I'm a lot more interested in the new challenges we'll face than in a new companion. They did say, however, that their next update will be about the new companion. I guess there might be a video like they did for Zahua and DoC. -
PoE sells 500K units
AndreaColombo replied to Eisenheinrich's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
If you check the list of RPGs on GoG and sort them by best selling, PoE Hero Edition is at the bottom of the first page. There was a time, before D:OS EE was out (the EE reset the sales on GoG so it basically had to start again from the bottom of the list), in which PoE Hero was ahead of D:OS on the list (both were at the top of the second page.) At the time, D:OS had reportedly sold over 1,000,000 and its Steam Spy figure was just slightly over 850,000, suggesting sales in excess of 100,000 on GoG. PoE was ahead of that. Besides I doubt any RPG can make it to page 1 of GoG's best sellers without selling in excess of 100,000 copies. -
PoE sells 500K units
AndreaColombo replied to Eisenheinrich's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
It has sold pretty well on GoG; I suppose the Steam Spy figures are inflated if the game is just slightly over 600,000 units, as I expect GoG copies to be over 100,000. -
Update 2.03 is Live
AndreaColombo replied to BAdler's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
Guess Colorblind mode should also alter the color scheme in descriptions, if it is to do its job. Hopefully they'll keep it in mind -
I'm honestly baffled they'd spend time and resources implementing a story mode, if nothing else because the game's already so incredibly easy. Appreciate that not everyone's able to steamroll Hard and PotD, but the game already comes packed with an Easy mode that should be practically impossible to eff-up. With that said, January 2016 is much earlier than I expected. I'm glad we'll get to play it so soon, although I hope the shorter development time vs. part I won't affect the overall quality. I also hope they'll keep rolling out patches for a relatively long time after pt. II is released.

[2.03] Wizard accuracy...weirdness
AndreaColombo replied to a question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
It's on the Wiki, but undocumented in the (outdated) game manual and within the game (then again, you could fill a canyon with stuff that goes on under the hood and is not communicated to you by the game's interface.) Characters get +3 Accuracy per level; non-weapon attacks get +1 Accuracy per character level. Aarik will be able to confirm. -
Everythings gone pink!

You can copy-paste your saves to a temporary location to make sure; then when you reinstall the game, you put them back where they were -

Pink means textures are missing. If you're on Steam, verify your game cache. Otherwise, I'm afraid you'll have to perform a clean install. -

[2.03] Wizard accuracy...weirdness
AndreaColombo replied to a question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Your base Accuracy at level 12 is not 56; it's 20 + (11 * 3) = 53. Spells get an undocumented Accuracy bonus equal to the level of the caster (so do all non-weapon attacks from any character.) 53 (Base) + 4 (PER) + 6 (ZF) + 12 (Lvl) + 10 (Spell) = 85 You can see this by hovering your cursor on the Slicken spell icon: (this is from your saved game.) Aloth is also a Wood Elf, so he gets +5 Accuracy against distant targets (which in PoE means targets who are 4+ meters away), so those will get checked against an Accuracy score of 90. With that said, how did you get the details of the 3 Grazes / 1 Hit / 1 Crit (your first screenshot)? I can't seem to get those in my game. -
I agree with the OP. I would add that A.I. could be smarter and scale with difficulty. On PotD, A.I. should be making creatures act synergistically to cover for each other's weaknesses, leverage on each other's strengths, and execute combos and strategies that are more advanced than just auto-attacking or spamming their per-encounters. They should drink potions when it makes strategical sense, and try to react to what the player does to the extent to which it is possible (example: Player is trying to funnel enemies through a door? All enemies retreat back into the room and start using ranged weapons and spells against the player, forcing them to enter the room and face them in the open.) From there, it could be scaled down on lower difficulty settings, gradually removing the most advanced features until you get to Easy, where A.I. simply avoids overly stupid behaviors (like getting stuck when walking against an object or becoming inert when the player goes invisible), but otherwise just mindlessly auto-attacks and spams per-encounters.

Personally, I think soulbound weapon are generally pretty good. I like how they are powerful without necessarily being the no-brainer most powerful weapon of their kind. Stormcaller is, in my opinion, one of the strongest. Lenas Er is great but applying 6 Shock DR reduction with every hit is massive when you're dealing Pierce/Shock damage (and most enemies don't have great Shock DR to begin with.) The proc are bonus (the Ranger proc is the best, but I usually give the bow to my Cipher.) If you take Heart of the Storm, you get +20% damage to every attack as well as to the proc, which is great synergy. It is true that Durgan Steel is extremely good. Tidefall is already better than St. Ydwen's Redeemer without, and becomes no-brainer-grade better with it (except against Vessels, of course, as that's where St. Ydwen's Redeemer is the best weapon in the game.) If the Redeemer's proc chance was increased to, say, 15% I guess that would help close the gap (the proc on Redeemer are pretty good.) The Greenstone Staff is rather good when given to a Monk, but ... well, Monks tend to use their fists most of all, right? And they switch to something else when they're faced with enemies that are either immune or highly resistant to Crush damage, which is what their fists deal. Now, what damage type does their soulbound weapon deal? Crush. Well, then. Why should I ever use a slower two-hander with my Monk when I can use my fists instead? I rather value the speed, which enables my Monk to wear heavy armor, and wouldn't give it up for the Nature's Mark proc. If the staff was given another damage type, like Crush/Slash or something, it would be much more appealing. Then again, justifying it in-game would be tricky (it's only obvious that staffs would deal Crush damage.) The Grey Sleeper is good, but could be better. The 10% paralysis is great, and the 5% Twin Stones is nice although very rare. What strikes me as out of place is the 5% evoke Vessels: While cool on paper, it is completely useless by the time you get the Estoc. Every enemy you face from that point on is going to be much more powerful than the Vessels the Estoc evokes, to the point enemies will mostly ignore them too (so they're not even good as fodder.) I'd rather have 10% Twin Stones, then. Nightshroud is OK, I guess. I don't play Rogues and I have no use for it on my Priest, so I can't really comment on it.

Aarik, I believe Devil of Caroc is rather subpar compared to the other companions: She doesn't get racial bonuses to her attributes, which means she's effectively 2 points short vs. everyone else. She cannot use Food or Potions. Her stat distribution is rather abysmal (any custom Rogue you may make is going to be better even without min/maxing.) She is forced to wear a breastplate-equivalent armor with 40% recovery penalty and no special abilities. Basically a generic breastplate you can enchant, which is worse than most unique armors you could have a custom Rogue wear. And what she gets in exchange for all that is immunity to Poison and Disease, two things that aren't particularly common, nor particularly threatening in the game. She's got great writing, dialog, and personality but from a mechanical perspective she's rather bad

AndreaColombo replied to Kilburn's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Yes. It is the IE mod. Tjayharvey said on Nexus he forgot to disable his personal talent mod before uploading.
