list of bugs/glitches i have found
redneckdevil replied to redneckdevil's question in Backer Beta Bugs and Support
Ok some more when picking the lands im from the bonus doesnt get added to the total and instead forces a point away from resolve into dex. I pick the one where pirates are from. im duelweilding a sabre and a pistol and the pistol reload gets stuck to where the character is stuck reloading the pistol in combat and wont continue attacking. Wont move singley and i have to move everybody for it to get unstuck. the area under the tower says it needs a grappling hook and i have one in my bag but it wont reconize i have one to use thus not letting me do the thing. -
A Game Designer is just like a GM/DM. They create a world for u to play in, the dictate the rules and what u can create and also afe in charge with the story/npcs/fights/rewards/etc etc. Basically they fill the world with everything and give u a story on top of that. As a player u create what is allowed and interact with what the GM/DM allows and/or provides and become stars of the show. alot of people forget that GM/DM are allowed to have fun as well and are allowed to want their work that they spent alot of time on to be appreciated AND are allowed to follow their vision. BUT it is also the players right to participate in the GM/DM vision and creation BUT it is also the right that the player does not have to play the game. think of videos games as games already fleshed out and set up and the GM/DM stepped away from the table while the players are playing.

redneckdevil replied to aluminiumtrioxid's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
Are we able to upload protraits now in beta? Because i CANNOT stop making pirate characters no matter the race lmao and i wanna upload a pic of Gol D Rogers for my protrait ;-) -
I think people are looking at it from dnd perspective which is understandable. 9 or below in something always resulted in a negative to something and 10 was the norm because u wasnt getting any or positives. this system however isnt like that, each point u always gain something without being subjected to having a minus. U put a single point into to str, u gained damage. U arent subjected to any loses. In d20 u have to put points into strength up to 10 so u dont suffer any penalties such as a -to hit and dmg. That minus situation is taken out. yes u are still conaidered not strong and will suffer against againt dmg outputs and whatnots, basically its the very same as d20 BUT without the minus to hit and dmg. Ex. Player uses a longsword and we will say its a 1d8 dmg. In d20 with 9 or lower strength, that 1d8 will atk and dmg such as 1d8-(x) for dmg and 1d20-(x) for attack. In PoE, it would be with same stats, 1d8+(x%). So dont think that 10 is the norm, think of any point gained after base stats is a "gain without the minus penalty" from teh d20 system.

I think the key is to design it at first with the "no kill" exp in mind flesh it out all the way through. Then go back and figure how many times someone is going to go through a certain area and what they are gonna deal with. Since u already have the mapping with quest exp already, use that as ur basis and figure out the formula and subtract from the exp u would normally get from the quest to a degree and give the creatures exp. U go in it with the mindset that kill exp is sending the players slightly farther to the level cap than no kill exp players would. Or scrape that ideal and just take the words outta josh's mouth that an kill exp system can quickly be implemented. If so they keep the current system and add the "kill exp" system. Have it just like hardcore mode in fonv where its an option to chose at beginning and that its toggleble. Something as big as exp system is a big thing and more options towards something big cant be bad. Like said, could be an option that made it enjoyable which woukd lead to more followers. With this option, what exactly could be wrong if its something thats quickly implemented? Also i do LOVE current system because its something new to me and enjoying it, but i want my happiness and i want others happy, because the more people happy can only mean good things for this game )

Combat... how?
redneckdevil replied to kyler75's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Ive found most important button to use in combat is S and D. S will slow everything down really slowly to where ive stop using pause and D speeds everything up really fast. -
Witcher 1, south park stick of truth, and the PoE beta and fantasy grounds and alice a return to madness (awesome awesome sound track btw) first time with the witcher in a long time and its like finally having chocolate when on a diet.....its just sooooo good lol.

Fair enough. So im guessing that the no kill exp system is actually broken and can actually works, the problem is the absence of the mental reward ingrained in us through the years of the currency/reward called kill exp? I understand about crafting, alot of tikes crafting ingame leads to the same problem in pnp unchecked and thats a surplus/advantage that points u ahead and further than where u normally would be at. Sometimes crafting can break a system that it can actually discourage exploration as well. Is there a possibility that people could stand back and open their minds to this and try something new? OR shoukd we ask for an option to for a way to turn on/off kill exp for players? Have it still designed to follow the quest exp only progression but for people who are wanting to progress and hit lvl cap earlier be able to? That way people who opt for no kill exp still progress and the game can still be designed around that as they intended and people who want kill exp can get it but design it to where the kills are low but still able to advance past the current intended level? Would this be the ideal solution? Both parties win and also both parties still have a reason to try each option out? I mean there are people who are enjoying the no kill exp that some people are saying is a totally failure (which is wrong because there wouldnt be people enjoying it if it was) and some people are not enjoying it because they cant get past not being rewarded exp for everything. Why not give an option for both? Because i am really enjoying the hell out of the current system as it is and i dont want my fun hampered by change, but i understand not all people are like me and would like them to have fun as well.

Id also like to point out to the players who play pnp, the exp system. There are alot who play pnp and use the exp system for every fight and every skill check but a practice that has also been out for many many years is the practice of the GM/DM saying u leveled when he/she says u leveled up. the quest exp system is something i see akin to the "u level up when the DM/GM says u leveled up" which if u have played that way isnt a bad thing. Alot of times it keeps the players from "outleveling" the content available so they dont faceroll through the current content....sounds familiar. NOW to the nitty gritty. Where exactly is the no kill exp a bad design? Forget traditions and step back and ask urself, am i able to do the content thats available with the current exp system? If we are then what is the problems then if the system works but we dont like it? Dont feel rewarded for combat? Ok well i feel we are rewarded enough against humanoids because of the cp, magic items, reg items that we can either use or sell...its the outdoor animals that im feeling is the problem correct? Then instead of kill exp, would the chance for finding hidden loot, events, and locations be worth wild and fill that need of "being rewarded for exploring"? As a crafter i feel they are already being rewarded because its the only place so far to gain the materials, but noncrafters be ok with being rewarded with hidden loot, events, and locations instead of kill exp? Someone brought up the spider queen, would u have felt rewarded enough to find good magical items and/or alot of cp in boxies wrapped up in spider webs? Or woukd u still need that kill exp. Reason why im asking is to find out if its really just the drive to get higher levels and make areas easier or is it actually needing to be rewarded with what u have done which im asking if ingame loot reward be able to replace the kill exp reward.

Ty but i have read the thread ) reason why im asking is because im not yet seeing any actual ingame problems by not having kill exp. Im mainly seeing "i killed something so i want to be rewarded" or "without kill exp i dont see a reason to explore and waste resourses" or "the older games all had kill exp" or "with no kill exp im wasting resourses and not being rewarded". 3 of those reasons are basically an emotional problem and not an ingame problem. I dont mean to call said people "emo" or anything bad, not at all, just saying that those are problems in the emotional level and not a physical problem. The "wasting resourses and not being rewarded" is kinda flawed. If ur in the field with a bunch of insects or animals, u may feel that way because those are situations where only crafting materials (and i havent touched crafting yet so cant vouch) so out in the wild, i was cautious. Then i went underground the tower...the murderhobo came out and i slayed everyone down there. Basically wanted to know what the secrets were and also because this run everyone was dropping phat loot. Got tons of weapons, gold, and magical items that i was able to quickly buy me a sweet expensive weapon from th shopkeeper. so my opionion on the outdoors wikdlife and a reason to use resourses for it is a very old tried and true method that u wouldnt have to resort to kill exp.....its the chance for hidden loot, events, or knowledge. With that players will have a drive to explore and know they are gambling for a chance for something nice and u dont have to resort to kill exp. Players will weigh in if they feel like they wanna use resourses and explore. That way the players are driven either by reason or curiosity to explore or not to explore. Just an idea, came to me as i remembered older games how i woukd explore old areas where i had to fight but was to high lvl to gain any exp but still took my time to see if i missed anything or not and thought something like that could help with the "resourses" arguement about exploring.

I have a question, for anyone who has played the beta....how does the system not work and fail? Im not talking from a "traditions (aka this is hiw the older games did it) standpoint or "emotional (i dont feel awesome not being rewarded by my every action) standpoint, i mean down to the nitty gritty...is this game unplayable (aka cannot proceed or complete) without kill exp? we was told that playing the main quest only we would be able to beat the game, so until its proven that we CANNOT finish and play the game doing just the main quests, then its safe to say that kill exp isnt actually needed. tbh i think both sides (even the side i guess im on for no kill exp because its not needed other than a "feelgood" mechanic) we cannot actually say if its a good idea or no because we dont have the full game infront of us. Now everything in the beta is totally doable without kill exp, but this is a small part. I think with this game we need to open our eyes and enjoy the nostalgia of the old games but realize its the old games feel with a new format. Its like casters, if u want to do nothing but cast spells only then yeah ur gonna be resting OR u can save on ur camping supplies and pick up a musket and stay back range dealing death that way and being smart with ur spells. Ever since i did that to my mage and took that damn wand away from him, ive actually gone 3 hours counting and havent rested yet though i fully agree mileage may vary. Ok mumbojumbo rant over, im jumping back in and seeing what this pool of blood will give me if i play "nice" hehe

If ur only reward for exploring is a numeric advance in level...and not the actual curiosity of wanting to know and rewarded with that knowledge but instead want "gained such and such exp" everytime u trip over a rock..eh. my and urs views are different and thats ok. Different strokes for different folks. I gave what i felt and thought and did not be an condensing assprick about it either, i liked it. U are more than obliged to disagree, but keep ur ****ty remarks to urself and realize that people have different points of views that URS doesnt have to be the right one ) Have fun, im going back into beta now and so far enjoying the ever **** out of it )

Im loving the no combat exp. From someone who has played rpgs video games all the way back to dragon warrior first coming out, u learn in every video game rpg to grind. U did it in dragon warrior, u did it in ff, chrono trigger, elder scrolls games, and now that i started playing in the isometric crpgs im doing the same. Im not venturing out to explore, no im venturing out to see what i can slay and anything i find is a byproduct of it. u grinded because it would make the game easier and also because the games would put in very difficult enemies that u had to grind to get past them. ill take baldurs gate for example. I know where im supposed to go but im going all over the map so i can slay whatever i find because the exp system im useless until i get higher levels as a caster so for me to be operational and not clicking my guybrunning away most fights while npc party members have all the fun, im grinding to lvl up. Now this game isnt enforcing and pushing murderhoboing mentality on me, its making murderhoboing a life choice, not a demand. Now im in the middle of a quest and im weighing decisions on where to go. I dont wanna go down a wrong corridor or a dead end so im playing smarter. I used to explore everything because i be missing out on exp to level up, now that it isnt an option im being smart. Combat is fun and it seems more dire now because im having to play smarter. Im not just running into everything swing a sword, no now im seeing someone and weighing my options should this be a good idea to engage or a better idea for disengagement. I find myself pondering so much that ive notice patroling on some. now i dont feel the need to grind because i know if i do the quests ill be in the spot where i can take on the bbeg but not cakewalk over it AND if i want some challenge i can bypass quests and have it be more challenging...maybe. BUT i will end with this. Combat has taken a new look for me. Its no longer about the grind fest that ive grown accustomed to for 30 years (which surprisingly has been a relief, like a weigh ifted from mu shoulders) and has made me ponder if i should or shouldnt. Also exploration has been surprisingly much more enteryaining because now i am exploring for the pure sake of curiosity itself and nothing more and im enjoying the non exp rewards for exploring, like the view of something or the satisfaction of knowing whats over yonder. Keep it the way it is please. Be brave, uve done somthing different and stick with it Obsidian.

The written event of the dungeon on the way to the orge, the sentence is in the heading and needs to be spaced a lil bit more. BBrogue seems to be having alot of problems. At the end of combat, she will keep swinging even though combat is done. She stops when u move her/everyone. Also i cannot have her crippling strike because in combat will show it active but never being used. This happened after i went downstairs in the tower and started fight the cultist. the shop keepers i have found will display the wrong prices sometimes but will have the correct price when trying to purchase. Example the grudge-keeper will sometimes show up as costing 150cp but when u add it to be purchased it says u need to pay 12150cp instead. missing strings with certain items such as list of names, boots, message of the day, etc. Ok ill post more when i see more. My first impression. You remember when as a young teen full of hormones that feeling u had when u were making out someone and everything was going right and then about to move on to intercourse (not the actual awkard part of ur first sex, but that feeling leading up to it)? Thats what my brain and eyes were feeling while playing. You know that feeling we all remember fondly of popping in BG or Morrowind or whatever for the first time and wishing u could go back to feeling? Yeah thats what my brain was feeling while playing. and then it happened, my brain forgot to breath... The eyes had shown it that it coukd make a pirate down to the Gol D Rogere massive glorius mustache! Squeling for joy the pirate life began. the looks are amazing, the sound and music is amazing, the.....you know what? Screw whatever i said, im jumping back into the beta. See ya

Dragon Age: Inquisition vs. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
redneckdevil replied to ktchong's topic in Computer and Console
No contest. Played the hell outta DA:O and loved it but i got to sink my fangs into witcher 1 this year....yeah it blew da:o outta the water and thats saying alot because i love da:o. From the moment i opened the disk i thought i had bought the collectors edition, sweet loot and a stradegy guide and then playing the game, man it got neck to neck but in the end witcher 1 won out. then played witcher 2 again sweet loot and an awesome awesome game. While i may not have enjoyed not using potions in battle anymore, no contest against da:2. Hell even da2 had the dwarf saying what most of us was thinking "im sick and tired of the mages and templars whining". Omfg and what they did with anders. Loved him in the expansion and then turned him into a whiny attention whore that i for one literally had to change my roleplay because he was the only healer in the game and had to please his emo whiny ass just so i could survive the game. I gladly sliced the head off the bastard they turned loveable and funny anders into. U give us reused maps, force a story down our throats that even the npcs are sick of, cant let me change my partys equipment, basically did away with all the things that made da:o great...but turning anders into that? ****ing unforgivable. now seeing how the quality has continued to improve and that the witcher guys have given us collecters loot AND free expansions and game stuff without charging us more and DA has unlike witcher gone down in quality, im gonna go with witcher 3. For me to waste money on DA:I im gonna have to hear unanumous praise from different forums and areas (im not trusting reviewers after what they did with DA2 (praise) and FONV (condemnation) so i dont care if it gets many awards, im waiting awhile to make sure its NOTHING like da2.- 256 replies

Instead of adventure paths, id be interested in the doing society games. It would offer replayability because each faction u join is wanting something different and the option to see the cities and iconics and also the city of the aroden and the infamous pathfinder captains who give out the missions.. ahhh i can dream
