  1. I don't mind this system, it's pretty old school though, later games used a mana pool instead, basically merging sorcerers and wizards, but this forces you to be strategic. It's not as bad as running out of spells in BGT because at least your wizard can use a crossbow, sword or whatever.
  2. Not too mention this entire project was funded on good will of the common folk. Paradox, subject to the above noted copy paste into the description of your video doesn't seem to care. They are far more likely to hire you than do anything else. I mean, they hired DDRJake, and he still makes videos showing exploits even though he's part of the QA team lol
  3. It's a bit confusing since speaking with a certain character they will voice some lines and not others, but overall, I don't mind the reading. Thus far I've had fun with the game; still learning how to avoid taking naps in combat.
  4. There were about 5 mandatory fights in Planescape Torment, and in other fights it was just that talking or conning your way out of it through conversation yielded more experience and bonuses. Widely considered by old folks like me to be the best RPG ever (but I am a big adventure gamer, so maybe that's why), fights only giving loot is totally fine with me. I can't think of them specifically but many games simply give exp for quest completion, which often includes battles, so you don't get exp for ganking random groups on the world map...oh well.
  5. Well, NWN has a network architecture that allows you to build you own micro MMOs, there are some pretty active servers for that. While I would only want to play official campaigns in single player, it really depends on the quality of the workshops or modding kits released that would boost demand for multiplayer at that level. Though I've dipped my toes into NWN2 multi player, I am a single RPGer at heart.
  6. I picked Ondra, not that I know anything about any of these gods, but only because Selune was my goddess in Forgotten Realms for almost 25 years.
  7. I love CDP and GoG, but I don't want to check for patches and so on, and the steam workshop is pretty easy for certain games (like Rome Total War 2) and so... Well, if the Nexus has a POE section, then maybe GoG, but likely Steam.
  8. The release day is the same day my boss' wife is due to give birth, so I can't take any time off. I hate kids.
  9. DAO did this very well, so did Planescape. You just get more powerful as you go along. Those were very story based games though, I don't know how this will work in Eternity. In DAO there were some encounters you just couldn't really do, mostly optionals, if you hadn't leveled enough. It was less about the stats then the abilities you needed to get the encounter finished in a timely fashion.
  10. Clearing areas has to have the net effect that you can race back through that area without fighting if you want, so any respawns are something you would have to hunt for if you want to fight again. That would be my choice.
  11. Yes Storm of Zehir was good, but you must allow for players to choose how they want to play the game. If someone wants to be rich, you should not make them grind endlessly to get to that point. Try to think about other people when you make such arguments. Personally, I don't care, I love playing Ironman, only what you find Diablo games, but I also play games where I hoard like crazy. Maybe choice should be the overriding factor in any single player game economic consideration.
  12. If you want to play a game where there is constant danger, play Diablo. Baldur's Gate was a real world, there were wolves and stuff, and generally, the world was not overrun by bad guys, that's not realistic unless the story is about a demonic invasion. Even in old, old England, you could most ride around the middle bit without problems, you head to the borders and get attacked by Vikings, Scotts or the Irish. Most places have stability or they are not a country at all, just a small collection of warring warlords. Somalia has borders on a map, but in reality, no government structure. It's not really a country at all at the moment. I'd rather play in a world with some stability and some very dangerous areas, that's what you get in BG.
  13. Single player games must allow for choice, over almost anything else. This is what some RPG makers seem to have forgotten. In DAO there is an exploit where if you double click something as you sell it you get twice the money, then you can rebuy it and over and over and make a lot of gold. You know what? That's your choice, do it or don't. Having it there makes the game better, because if you want to play with all the bells and whistles you can, or anything in between. It's up to you. Don't worry too much about economy in an single player game, no matter what you do, there will be a mod or whatever to make it the way you want, as it should be.
  14. Planescape was the perfect amount. I don't like the games like DAO (well, I mean, I love that game, but the voice acting part), where everyone talks but you. Either go Mass Effect, or Planescape, not somewhere in between.
  15. I've always found it odd that adventurers out wandering the world, saving it or whatever, have time to become master crafters as well. I like the BG system because you find a shell, and take it to a master blacksmith who makes your armor. Makes sense to me.
