  1. Given the requirements of faith, devotion, or an animal companion it makes sense for those classes to not see as much use. Still sad though. It's the same reason why Serafen isn't Cipher with every potential combination despite being a psychic, the devs wanted to make sure there was a single class option for every class with all the companions. I would have preferred Mindstalker to pure Barbarian for him but that just didn't happen.
  2. The story is trying to be too urgent to really be an "open world story." It would've made a lot more sense for the factions and their interactions to be front and center, but I guess then you'd have difficulty drawing the Watcher out of Caed Nua. So why even re-use the existing player character? What would've been wrong with new characters? As we saw, it was completely plausible for characters from the first game to have made their way to the Deadfire Archipelago on their own - it's not like they all hung out in Caed Nua, they all had their own things to be doing. Continuity, which is overrated. I hope future PoE titles are standalone and that the DLC covers what would be a sequel, preferably in the form of an endgame expansion like ToB(but good) or Mask of the Betrayer.
  3. From what I understand Deadfire is easier to mod than BG2 which required the community to whip up weidu and other tools to really get it going.
  4. Miscreant's Leather, Devil's Breastplate, or Swift Hunter's Garb. You want the least amount of recovery possible and all of those are under +20%.
  5. All bioware games post BG2 are bad, fite me irl. BGT's big advantage over PoE and Deadfire is the breadth of content, even without the many content mods it feels substantially bigger and a playthrough of the vanilla trilogy is probably longer than 2 of a PoE/Deadfire with expansions/dlc, more if you count the EEs but I don't. More so than mechanics or setting that's what really makes it a gem, if they cut out half the content to let you chase an emo elf and his vampire sister between exploring sparse areas and one floor dungeons the game would have been relegated to the dustbin of history instead of put on its pedestal.
  6. I just want wizards to get something that makes up for Druids and Priests getting an active ability and a free spell per power level. Grimoires make up for half of that, and I think that the free spell or something like arcane assault in PoE is needed.
  7. I prefer Deadfire's consistency, particularly for martial classes. Something that bothers me about PoE are the per rest abilities like Finishing Blow or Clear Out, which are inferior to the rest of the classes abilities in terms of availability and inferior to the per rest spells in terms of power. I also remeber the cluster**** that was per emcounter spells before Spell Mastery got introduced and I see Deadfire's casting system as an attempt to avoid either of those patchwork solutions, which I personally enjoy more.
  8. Another guy shared this, I think it looks great. Is it possibe to give the subclasses a free auto-learn spell at each power level? Like Duids, Priests, Trickster, and Storm Speaker? Imo wizards could use that or an active ability.
  9. Scout has the best synergy as a lot of strikes with accuracy bonus to help crit and the hit to crit conversion, even without assassin you'll be getting in a lot of crits. Sharpshooter is a good choice and the deflection penalty can be circumvented with potions or buffs from companions.
  10. I'm looking into making a Spellblade that focuses on dual wielding melee weapons and uses wizard spells for buffs and debuffs. Right now I'm planning on using Grave Calling and Hel Beckoning for weapons, Devil's Breastplate or Miscreant's Leather for armor, and Arkemyr's Illuminating Discoveries for the grimoire. What I'm wondering is what subclasses are best for this (in 1.2 beta), what accessories I should look to equip, and any potential pitfalls to what equipment I've decided on. Already beat the game with a Battlemage on hard, but no experience with Spellblade. Character will be a hired mercenary for new dlc, and if I like it a new playthrough.
  11. Once i've unlocked a few more success i'll consider going for mods tho. So i would be interested by this. It could be cool to see a (or multiple) nice unique morning star and a (or multiple) nice unique poleaxe. And if you could find something to mod the "maximum attack" stat for 2 handers it would be nice too ^^ I'l make 3 uniques of each type. So, you can give me ideas for creating good and useful 2H items Greatswords Remade Tidefall from PoE, wounding and draining with upgrade to inflict constitution affliction Greatsword with elemental lash Greatsword with increased pen and critical modifier, maybe crushing lash Tidefall done. I will upload it tomorrow. Beautiful.
  12. It almost certainly won't change it and you should just keep a pre-endgame save.
  13. And that is also wrong. Also, newbies would probably get destroyed by SCS. After you learn the game without those mods you easily overpower most of the content post-spellhold. As a newbie I had to reinstall BGT because my kensage kept wrecking everything in the vanilla+fixpack game.

  15. Power Level needs to effect more abilities, especially for Martial classes. That would go a long way to making PL universally useful and make single class more appealing. Improve the **** abilities too.
  16. You also take a scaling dot and the -5 int means a -10 hit to your will defense, which isn't good. You can avoid a lot of it by getting an Int inspiration(supresses confused) or a resolve inspiration(reduces confused duration, doesn't effect positive Frenzy effects). Carnage is a lot smaller than PoE so if you don't have AoE skills you might not even notice.
  17. lol what He was temporarily taken over by the alternate earth version of himself, Red Dog.
