Backer Beta Information [Not Live Yet]
Tartantyco replied to Tigranes's topic in Backer Beta Announcements
*Implying that the backer beta is not a helpful part of the development of the game.* You are nothing but doom and gloom, Marceror. -
No, he's not "maybe" right. He is right. If you're going to involve yourself in a beta, at least pay attention to the actual development.

The real reasons combat in PoE feels like such a clusterf**k
Tartantyco replied to Andhaira's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
I have come to the conclusion that this thread is derp. -
He said, implying that the challenges and content of the game will be concentrated in trash mobs.

It's because they've run out of arguments and are just trolling with " 'muh DnD!"

Map Density and Encounters/Points of Interest
Tartantyco replied to Justinian's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
So what if it's ignored on subsequent playthroughts? That is true for everything. Also, having more space allows for more approaches. Then there's expansion/DLC material, where they can add in new quests and stuff in previously empty parts of maps.- 26 replies

Does combat need to be slowed down?
Tartantyco replied to Tartantyco's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
Isn't there a speed-up mode? It goes to 200% or something? -
The question is more whether the developers have time to spend on implementing it. Sawyer mentioned in the PCGamer video that they have thought about it, and might try to implement it, but that they don't know if it will work or not. I'm not opposed to queues, I just don't think they have the utility necessary to spend resources on. But we shall see.

That... would slow down combat, Namutree... ( It is also one of the things I suggested ) -
General text/language/proofreading thread (+ a few bugs)
Tartantyco replied to 9-Jack-9's question in Backer Beta Bugs and Support
I guess I can repeat the grammatical advice I gave in this thread. Switch out all the "him or her/his or her" stuff with "their". It's a gender-neutral pronoun that makes the text a lot less messy. -
Dyrford Ruins: grappling hook? (Spoiler alert)
Tartantyco replied to DnaCowboy's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
I had two grappling hooks in my inventory, the one I bought in the shop and the one I found in the crate in the river in the village. One of them worked for me, no idea which. -
First of all, pausing in the IE games was pretty much essential, so it's not like it's deviating from its inspiration here. Second of all, you have a slow-motion mode that slows down the game 50%. Third of all, a lot of bugs are really messing with our ability to actually read the combat properly, as does the fact that the feedback system is not implemented yet. I think the general consensus is that some parts of the combat is a little fast, and we'll see if they do anything about that, or if bug fixing and feature implementations help smooth out the bumps in combat.

Combat feels: Activeness, Speed and Pace.
Tartantyco replied to Sensuki's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
Just spend some more time on it, dma. The combat will get much better with just a little experience, even with the bugs and non-implemented features that kind of cripple combat at the moment. Or just wait for an update, because there are some extremely frustrating bugs in the current build. Pathfinding is priority. Feedback, visually and audibly, is being worked on(They have a not yet implemented feedback system they're touching up). Game breaking bugs like the load bug are also priority. Balancing is ongoing. They've said they hope to push out beta updates every few weeks, so I'd suspect an update is coming within a week. -
