  1. The system should be understandable and provide good gameplay.
  2. Is the grappling hook in your inventory, or in your stash(The chest icon)?
  3. That is not what it says, Ondb.
  4. As I seem to have to repeat all the time, absolute speed is not the issue. It's relative speed. Movement speed relative to ability or spell casting time. Movement speed of X relative to movement speed of Y. Slow-motion changes absolute speed, not relative speed. You can't hit something with an AoE spell if it takes longer to cast the spell than it takes for the enemy to get into melee range. I also feel that absolute speed should be a little slower, then you can have a higher speed and a slower speed, with a mellow middle ground for your average combat.
  5. Relative speed is still a little slow, with enemies being able to close the distance far too quickly and consequently negating a lot of spells and abilities. As we haven't seen too many enemy types yet, it may just be this specific selection(Wolves and Lions, in particular), but I think movement speeds should be reduced across the board by a relatively small percentage.
  6. This is why nobody cares what you say, Ondb.
  7. I think all these polls are extremely premature. We haven't even been able to get a good overview of combat because of a few bugs and some not yet implemented features, while we have only seen a small number of enemies. There is very little to base this poll on.
  8. I think that, whatever you queue up, it will consequently have to be altered as the combat situation changes. It would simply be a pointless addition.
  9. Don't engage him, Longknife. He's just a sad little troll.
  10. ITT: People arguing about stats that are far from set in stone as if we've been playing the release version for the last week.
  11. The inn music should consist entirely of Luke Kelly.
  12. I was just listening to the Pillars of Eternity theme, Justin. Is that a hint of Basil Poledouris I hear?
  13. And what about the other 10%, Justin. Are they just chopped liver to you!? Edit: Dear god, Bester. I've seen stabbings less brutal than your reply.
  14. My only guess it's a secret(Purple) that's meant to be hidden, but is bugged out or not implemented.
  15. The inventory next to the characters is meant to be tactical inventory. Stuff you think you may have to use in combat, like scrolls and potions, maybe the occasional weapon if you don't have enough gear slots. You use the stash(The chest icon) to store anything that you don't immediately need, like crafting supplies, items you're going to sell, and so on. I'm wondering about dropping loot on the ground, as well. Probably an oversight.
  16. What? It practically molests you! (And you can hear where the inspiration is from)
  17. Yeah, but the problem is that you have to pick something, and now you have to pick two weapon specializations simply because you do something in one order instead of another.
  18. You're wrong and you should feel bad! The BG2 paper dolls look like burn victims.
  19. Icewind Dale is probably the most atmospheric game of all the IE games. The music fits so well with the areas you're in, and it's all very rich and organic. Just listen to the Kuldahar theme, or the Easthaven in Peace theme. And compared to the IE games themes, Pillars of Eternity has quite a way to go. Baldur's Gate Theme Baldur's Gate 2 Theme Icewind Dale Theme And then there's the most divine of IE games music, The Lady's House.
  20. How does that definition apply to the inventory/encumbrance system in Baldur's Gate 1? What strategic choices am I making? Putting the heavy items in the inventory of the character with the greatest weight allowance isn't a strategic option, it's the only option. Arrows are abundant throughout the game world, and the quantity you can carry vs. the amount of loot you find at no point requires you to make any value judgment as to what to keep or what to drop. If you could only keep what you managed to carry, there would at least be a slight tinge of decision-making, but you can always come back and pick up what you left behind. Or re-equip yourself if, for some strange reason, you run out of something. I state, once again, that at no point while playing Baldur's Gate 1(Vanilla, ToTSC, or TUTU) were my strategic or tactical choices ever influenced by the inventory/encumbrance system. If you were, that is as a result of your own actions, and not any restrictions imposed by the game.
  21. Fighter level up is messed up. You can choose weapons specialization on levels 3 and 4, but these abilities... ...meaning you will be punished for not choosing any of those abilities on level 3.
  22. (Other IE games portraits can be found in my signature) I've resized and cropped the original Icewind Dale 2 portraits so they work with Pillars of Eternity. The small versions focus on the face from the larger version. Here's an album for preview and download. Simply scroll to the bottom of the screen, click the "..." next to social media icons, and click "Download Post". The portraits go into this directory:
  23. That would have to be an incredibly loose definition of "strategy" you'd have to use. You won't miss it, trust me.
  24. wuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut. Did you seriously just say that? I played Baldur's Gate when it only had 4,000 pathing nodes. 4,000! If you had trouble finding arrows or managing your inventory, it was entirely your own fault. I have never, in any IE game, had any issues with inventory beyond it being full and me having to go sell everything before returning to where I was.
