  1. If money and bartering worked like it does in Spice and Wolf that would be amazing. I agree there's actually a lot you can do with currency in a fantasy world, most games don't really explore that though and stray far far away from it. I know i'm talking of something with far higher expectations than what you're suggesting, but still I do agree that more can be done with currency.
  2. I'm holding Adam to this if we hit 4,000,000. We have his live Ustream video as evidence.
  3. I want some dwarf on dwarf beard action!
  4. *bumping again* Just cause we're getting close to the end and we don't want this thread to get lost!
  5. At most I'd expect a 50,000 loss when the Kick starter ends. At the very least probably around 10,000. It's nothing to be too worried about, but it will happen, we just have to hope that it's the lower tiers as stated above and not the higher ones. And I wouldn't call them 'fake' pledges, sometimes people put a pledge in to guarantee that tier slot before hand, expecting to have the money... but life happens so I wouldn't be too terribly upset at them.
  6. Thanks @ Darustet and Loranc! Good to know that we have a solid chance to get the second city (and to go even beyond that) I originally thought that hitting 4 million would be an easy goal, but now it's looking rather difficult. We'd have to get 707,940 approximately in our final 35 hours. It's not impossible to reach, but it will defiantly be something to celebrate if we reach reach it. The good news is that the 3,500,000 goal is in the bag.
  7. Are there any projections on what the final amount will be? Why would a megalomaniacal wizard have a chain around his neck though? He probably thought it was the height of fashion. That or it's a giant stone titan who the paths were built around as a sort of elaborate subterranean prison. A Dungeon if you will. Or he was creating some kind of magical construct... A Giant Walking Stone Giant would be a perfect servant for any crazy wizard! Next 2 hour update! If you're interested in hearing my own personal projection of what we'll get.... I like to look at bare minimums. So with that being said. 3,270,232 is where we're currently at. A 12,410 increase or 6.2k/hour. Our backer number is now 65,289, that's a 180 increase or 90/hour. Okay projection time. 1 day 11 hours to go, or rather 35 hours. The final days will see about half of what the start of the project saw. Keeping that in mind, I believe we will hold a 6,000 on average per hour ratio for donations. This being just Kick Starter, so let's take that number. That gives us 210,000. Putting us at 3,480,232. Paypal gained about 7 thousand in 24 hours, so keeping that in mind. We'll see another 10,000 from Paypal alone. Now at 3,490,232. Add in the websites which rpg codex is now at 7,344, plus 3,281 from gamebanshee, plus 1.349 from sorcerer's palace. That brings us to a total of 3,502,206. (keep in mind this being a bare minimum projection.) I won't go into the math on the backer count but bare minimum I project 69,519 backers. Now taking all that into consideration, that's the 'bare' minimum this project will receive. If we look at it realistically, or hell let's go to the top of the spectrum. Let's say we have a most fantastic final 35 hours and we get the absolute best donation turnout. A solid 12,000/hour, all together with the websites and Paypal figured in we'd see 3,789,945. Just remember that this is no way includes the fact that it's the final days in which case we should see double digits of what we normally get. Meaning, that Sunday's 160,000 should mean that we'll get 320,000 in our final 24 hours. From an absolute minimum projection we are going to and will hit the 3.5 million mark.
  8. 2 hour update time, yay! 3,257,822 (Almost there!!!) 12,196 increase, 6k/hour. Our backers are now 65,109 (We have now un-officially obtained dungeon level 10, (Obsidian stated that Paypal won't count until the end of the KickStarter.) a 179 increase 84/hour. We are now 242,178 away from 3.5 million!!!!!!!!! *I seem to be getting massive lag on this forum and only this forum, anyone else experiencing this.?*
  9. The first point is entirely understandable, and like I said it could be an adventure all on its own terms opening Adventurer's Hall up. That makes sense lore-wise, but from there on in, it whould all cater to my RP needs when I build my own party, no? Yeah, that makes sense. I'd have no problem with it being like that, I just want it to fit into the world and make sense.
  10. And where can I see how much money there is and how many people put there money =) Click the obsidian link on my signature for twitter, they post it there.
  11. *bumping* so people can read it and get a general idea of why Paypal is better.
  12. Josh specifically stated the reason for this being that the start of the game they want you to be 'solo' for a while. The whole point in putting in pricing is to prevent people from running over there and having a party of 6 at the start of the game. I see no issue with actually hiring mercenaries, at least that makes sense. A huge adventurer's hall where you can craft companions for free, makes absolutely no sense lore-game wise.
  13. Wait up! I was under the impression that both Kickstarter and Paypal take a percentage of the donations. Is there a lot of difference between the two? And if so which do Obsidian prefer we pledge to? Sorry that took me 20 years to get that information in a readable format. Okay so let's do some math, let's say the KickStarter information is now Paypal's. So let's assume we hit 4,000,000 at the end of the month all on Paypal with 70,000 backers. That's 21,000 for the .30 per transaction. Then 2.2% of 4,000,000 is 88,000. Totally 109,000. Using that same information on KS we get 200,000.
  14. I actually really love the outfits and character creation in Drakensang the River of Time. One of my hidden gem, all time favorite pc rpgs. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I_HyBQWPYnA
  15. Make sure you guys post the title you want here, but check to make sure another member doesn't have it first.
  16. The Adventurer's Hall should not be a "money sink"!!! First and foremost, we shouldn't be penalized for wanting to create a custom party. If the developers are looking for a way to limit the number of companions created in the early game, they should limit the number by PC level or story progress (or something else). Second, adventurers want to adventure, right? Not sit around on their butts in the Hall. Why should they demand vast sums of money to join an adventuring party? And if the story is such that the Hall is more-or-less mercenary recruitment (a concept that I don't like), then it should be a small payment with the idea being that the mercenary would share in the spoils (perhaps simply requiring a payment of a certain percentage of the party's gold if and only if removed from the party). Really, we just want to be able to make custom parties without strings attached, plz! Perhaps I'm overreacting, but I consider this *very* important. (I will admit that it is getting close to the end of my day, so perhaps I'm more irritable than I should be... but still... grrr...).
  17. Fun fact for anime lovers and JRPG lovers. From Studio Ghibli the developers who have brought you such movies as these; Castle in the Sky, Grave of Fireflies, Princess Mononoke, Howl's Moving Castle, Spirited Away, and many more. A new exclusive PS3 JRPG (It's PS3 exclusive due to the fact that the Xbox 360 is not selling in Japan, however this game was also released on 3DS but the U.S currently will not see the 3DS version brought over. Not sure about the other countries outside of the U.S seeing a release either.) http://en.wikipedia....wiki/Ni_no_Kuni http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4MznAY8Es5c http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3kUPIPBDA-I I realize this game won't appeal to some or most people, but I'm just bringing about awareness for what looks to be an amazing JRPG coming to the PS3 real soon. And from quite a few 'anime' posts I've seen, I figured some people may appreciate finding out about this game.
  18. 2 hour update our donation amount is 3,245,626 a 10,596 increase 5.5k/hour. Our backer amount is 64,930 a 160 increase 80/hour. We are now 70 backers away from our next dungeon level and nearly 250,000 away from our 3.5 million goal.
  19. Fun fact this is from the Trilogy release of Mass Effect. Just thought it was funny, some will get it and some won't. Point being gaming companies need to stop ruining our beloved games with lame publishers!
  20. 6 1/2 hour update just to see where we're at here folks. 3,235,030 (We ended with 164,000 donations for Sunday, nice going everyone) that's a 47,935 increase or 7,374/hour. 64,770 backers (we are now 230 backers from level 10 of our mega dungeon!!!!) a 630 increase or 96/hour. That is extremely awesome that we kept such a high ratio these past several hours. We are officially $264,970 away from big big city #2. (Just added in new Paypal information as well) The mega dungeon picture was also update.
  21. We'll have to wait till tomorrow to get a new Paypal update, but from the amount of people just on the forum saying they switched their pledge to Paypal, I can only assume it's moved anywhere between 10-20k.
  22. Somebody has to do it. But I kind if wish I did not take this burden upon myself. *sniff* But it's all over in 46 hours! You can't see it as a burden, every title you add to someone is 8 more dollars they put towards the project. It adds up, and every little bit helps us reach our goals as well as our dreams as players.
  23. Yeah, today is going to be the largest accumulated donation day since the first four days of the project.
  24. We've also got another 16,110 from four different websites donating. That would put us at 3,200,127 Which four websites? http://www.neogaf.co...ad.php?t=491435 http://gamebanshee.c...roject-eternity http://www.<span sty...ent.php?id=8456 http://www.sorcerers...ead.php?t=58007 Correct me if I'm wrong but atleast one of those sites is already included in the kickstarter total. Neogaf had reserved an inn spot on the kickstarter site in anticipation that they would make the goal, they're one of the three 5k donations listed for the tavern donation level. That looks to be the case, that's no big deal though as I wasn't officially counting any of it till the end anyways. Thanks for letting me know though, I completely overlooked that one.
  25. Been pretty wore out the past few days, drinking beer and playing the forum 'game'. Sorry about that pledge upped to 58$ now.
