  1. I feel like the Niners are the overally better team, if you compare them across every unit, but the Chiefs have Mahomes and there's almost no limit to what he can do. If the Chiefs can get up a couple scores early and force the Niners to abandon the run, they should take this without too much trouble. If the Niners can stay ahead or even close, their ridiculous running game against a somewhat suspect run defense could be the key to keepjng Mahomes off the field. Tough call. I'll take the Niners, mainly because I see EVERYBODY picking the Chiefs. Also, I'm gonna ride or die with my boy Handsome Jimmy.
  2. I have finished Act 3 of Kentucky Route Zero. What a weird... I don't know that I can even call it a game. It's more of a narrative experience... an interactive movie... I guess? It's equal parts profound and confusing. It's extremely slow paced but very well written and the presentation is immaculate. I mean, graphically, this was certainly not a particularly expensive project to make, but the attention to detail and polish of how every scene moves and evolves is top-shelf AAA quality. It's very clear why this took so long to make. Nothing in KRZ is done hastily or haphazardly.
  3. Drama queen sells... gets clicks... likes... thumbs ups... whatever the kids use as currency these days.
  4. What if the Coronavirus is a marketing ploy by Modelo?
  5. Happy 42nd birthday! Remember to always carry a towel with you.
  6. I'm on Act I, Scene VI of Kentucky Route Zero. I'm loving the bejesus out of it so far. It sort of has a bit of an Oxenfree vibe to it, in how cryptic the narrative is (I have an idea of what this all might be about, which I won't share on the off chance I'm correct). The game is also a bit like Sunless Sea/Sky in that there is a lot of text to read that may or may not be related to the main plot in any meaningful way, it may just be flavor text, but it is well enough written that I enjoy reading regardless of whether or not it helps me understand or advance the plot in any meaningful way. It's amazing how much of a difference the quality of prose can make. The game's presentation, both visually and audibly is terrific. It has a sort of minimalist style, with low poly art, a usually greyscale color palette, and no interface on screen except when there is something to interact with. Often times, nowhere near all the screen real estate is used. The camera will very slowly and smoothly move and zoom on its own as needed, and when it does zoom in and fill the whole screen and/or add colors, it has a significant effect on the mood. Similarly, audio is most often just ambient sounds in the background, but when called for, music fades in gently and it changes everything. When you aren't having your senses saturated constantly, even a small amount of extra sensory content makes a profound difference. Hopefully the game is as good throughout as it is at the beginning.
  7. ^ That's kind of how people here in Murica get outraged and shocked when they find out Russia has been hacking us, spying on us, and sending us propaganda to stir **** up via fake social media accounts. Of course, we do the same exact thing to the Russians, and likely everyone else, foe or ally.
  8. If it makes you feel better, over the last week or so I've gone from Delaware to Minnesota to Nebraska to Pennsylvania back to Delaware, and now I'm in Tennessee heading for Texas and I may have seen 4 or 5 hours total of sun during that time. It's been perma-overcast seemingly everywhere in the eastern half of the US.
  9. I figured that stunt would backfire, but I didn't think it would backfire that badly. Between Biden and Bernie, I figure Bernie would have the better chance against Trump.
  10. It makes me sad that Tulsi has basically zero chance of getting the Democrats nomination. I would probably vote for her (and I say that as a registered Republican) and she might even have a chance against Trump if the Dems would get behind her. Alas, the donkey political machine seems hellbent on giving Elizabeth Warren the nomination and Trump will steamroll her. At least the Pocahontas jokes will be great.
  11. So we know AMD's Big Navi is coming this year, which, I'm assuming is a particularly giant blue humanoid. We already know that it will do hardware "ray tracing" (I'm assuming it will actually be a hybrid of rasterization and ray tracing like Nvidia's "ray tracing" and not pure ray tracing) which is not a selling point for me, so it's whatever. Given all the rumors, "leaks", and speculation so far, it will probably significantly outperform the 2080 Ti but maybe be slower than the 3080 and almost certainly slower than the 3080 Ti. I'm mainly going to be in the market for a card that can deliver 4K at approximately 100 FPS most of the time, we'll see if Big Navi manages to meet that criteria. If so, I may just build a fully Team Red desktop.
  12. RIP Chris Doleman. I remember him terrorizing Troy Aikman back when muh Boys were a great team.
  13. I had a delivery in Klingerstown, PA yesterday. Holy crap that place was SUPER deep in the boonies. That was the kind of "town" (town might be stretching it) where a slasher film would take place. You know the type of movie I'm talking about: Group of friends get hopelessly lost and wind up stuck in the middle of nowhere. No cell phone reception, gps doesn't work, and there's one land line in a 50 mile radius and it sometimes doesn't work. The locals seem nice enough at first, but then weird things keep happening. Eventually they all wind up getting hacked to bits, one by one, by a deranged, misshapen, psycho axe murderer.
  14. I'm fine with the media celebrating his basketball accomplishments. I mean, he was one of the greatest of all time, I don't think that's even debatable. Let everybody celebrate him as a phenomenal athlete for a week, then, by all means, feel free to go hard in the paint (pun intended) on the rapist stuff.
  15. Just started Kentucky Route Zero. Initial impression:
  16. I'm with Shady, Skarpen, & Hurlshot. I'm totally cool with pointing out that Kobe once pulled the "oops wrong hole" trick, but maybe not mere hours after the guy died. Give people a couple of days to grieve before breaking out the ol' soapbox.
  17. For 3D objects, scalable vector graphics, and such I would also recommend Blender.
  18. I know what you've all been thinking, "Where the **** are all the anime fútbol games?" Your prayers have been answered:
  19. I finished Shadow of the Torture Porn Raider. Good game, definitely my favorite in the trilogy. It's the most exploration and puzzle solving heavy and combat light of the 3 games and it has the best designed tomb puzzles and the best run for your life setpieces. There is still plenty of killing, with one sequence in particular roughly 2/3 of the way through the game where Lara goes full on psycho murderer killing spree, but the combat is spread far apart and there are long stretches in the game where you do very little to no fighting, so I can see how some people that play these games mainly for the combat might have not liked this game as much. I'm at about 93% completion, so I might try to 100% the game. I have a few days to kill. I think I'm going to start playing Kentucky Route Zero around the 24th or 25th. No way I finish the first 4 episodes before the 5th one comes out on the 28th. I'm so excited, I've been patiently waiting so long for this. /rubs hands together
  20. The Packers' offense came alive in the second half, but they were just way too far behind. The Niners rushing attack was the most impressive I've seen in a very long time. In a league that's more pass-heavy than it's ever been, seems you can still win with rushing.
