  1. To me, Classic RPG makes more sense than Computer RPG. You see, if I hear classic rocket-propelled grenade, I can assume you are talking about a German Panzerfaust, or perhaps the Soviet RPG-2.
  2. Since you brought them up, I would not be opposed to Harebrained Schemes making a Star Trek RPG.
  3. I would give a 1000 gold-pressed latinum for a proper Star Trek single player RPG, but only if Ferengi are a playable race.
  4. My whole point is that the old labels have become kind of meaningless these days because so many games have elements of so many different genres. For example, I'm currently playing Valkyria Chronicles 4. Is it a RPG? Is it a strategy game? Is it a tactics game? Is it top down? Is it third person? You could answer "yes" to any of the previous questions, depending on how conservative or liberal you are with your definitions.
  5. So then, AD&D 2nd edition wasn't an RPG? All you got for levelling up as a fighter was d10 hp and -1 THAC0, that's pretty shallow. On a serious note, I just think conventional genre names have become increasingly irrelevant as there's so much blurring of lines and crossover of mechanics.
  6. Doesn't almost every game these days have some RPG mechanics? I bet even Cooking Mama has RPG mechanics.
  7. Alpha Protocol without a doubt. It's quite flawed, but what that game does well it does brilliantly.
  8. The art style in this game is so freakin' good. 99% of the time I'll take a really well put together stylized aesthetic over realistic graphics. The bonus is that stylized tends to be less taxing on hardware than realistic, and this game runs like 100 billion bucks on my PC.
  9. If I lived that far away from civilization and, more importantly, light pollution, I would 100% buy a telescope. The night sky is a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT experience away from light pollution.
  10. I completed chapter 5 in Warriors Orochi 4, which is the end of the standard campaign, though not the end of the game. The important thing about finishing chapter 5 is that it unlocks Chaos Difficulty, which is, IMHO, the difficulty these types of games are meant to be played at. There's really no point in playing a musou on easy or normal difficulty, there's no challenge whatsoever. Even on hard difficulty the game is quite easy and only late game missions offer anything approaching a real challenge. Chaos difficulty is where you actually have to be careful and move around the battlefield strategically because even the mooks can seriously hurt you, they're far more aggressive too. Archers are downright evil on chaos difficulty. Taking enemy bases so that they spawn friendly mooks instead of enemy mooks actually matters on chaos difficulty (it's essentially pointless on hard or lower). There's also Pandemonium Difficulty, which is essentially chaos difficulty, but also standby officers don't heal (on all other difficulties your standby officers, the ones you are not currently controlling, regen health). Pandemonium is available in missions where Hundun appears. It is BRUTAL. I think there may be a way to unlock pandemonium difficulty for all missions at all times, but I don't know if I'm that much of a masochist. I'll stick with chaos for now and if I git gud enough that chaos is lacking in challenge, then I'll consider playing on pandemonium. I'll probably take a break from WO4 and play some Valkyria Chronicles 4 for a while. I'm also VERY interested in Beautiful Desolation, but as of right now, according to Proton DB, while the game runs on Linux, the movies don't play, at least not with any audio, which is obviously an issue in a story-driven game. Once they get that squared away I'll likely scoop that up. Until then, time to command my ragtag group of soldiers through alternate history Europe.
  11. In my inventory and off cooldown.
  12. CDPR follow the money and the next Witcher game is a f2p clicker for iOS and Android.
  13. So, you get to play as some Olympian Gods and Goddesses. I seem to recall Athena's garb providing much more coverage in most depictions of her, not that I'm complaining: As an aside, Athena clearly doesn't skip leg day. She's got some good definition in her quads and calves. More importantly, I FINALLY got my main man:
  14. I'm deep into chapter 4 in Warriors Orochi 4. I have my A Team mostly set now. I'm running with Bao Sanniang, Sakon Shima, and Susano-o. Susano-o is a stand in until I get Lu Bu, but the other 2 are probably permanent A Team members for the rest of the game. Bao Sanniang is my combo builder. At certain combo score thresholds, namely 300 and 1000 hits, your magic attacks get a damage boost. Furthermore, there are upgrades you can slot into weapon sockets that give you bonuses at said combo thresholds, so if you want to use those upgrades on any or all of your team members then it behooves you to have at least 1 character (combo score carries over when you switch characters in battle) that can build combo score quickly and I've yet to find a character that can build combo score faster than Bao Sanniang. Sakon Shima is on the team for 2 reasons. First, he has hyper attacks and I always like to have at least 1 character on my team with hyper attacks, since they let you zoom around the battlefield very quickly. Second, he has the single best unique magic attack I have seen in the game. It's so ridiculously strong. He calls down a rain of arrows in a pretty large radius around him. It lasts for around 10 seconds and it moves with you and you can act while it's happening (a lot of other unique magics are essentially cut scenes). The arrows keep anyone they are raining upon essentially perma-stunned, officers included, so it's amazing for taking enemy officers out, as well as all the mooks around them. Susano-o is just a good all around character, but he's getting replaced once I get my boy Lu Bu.
  15. Good luck finding a place to live. I spent a year and a half homeless a bunch of years ago. It was not nearly as bad as I though it would be, the biggest drawback was that the winters were really harsh (I lived in Connecticut back then) and all the shelters were full, but honestly I had a tent and a sleeping bag and plenty of blankets, so the weather was a minor concern, getting kicked out of places, since almost nothing in America is still public land, was the bigger concern. On the positive side, the area I was in had a really good soup kitchen that took care of the people. Oddly enough, I actually managed to gain money during that time, mostly doing MTurk stuff on my laptop at the library. $70 a week may not seem like much, but when your bills are basically zero... Anyway, the lesson I learned was to swallow my pride and accept help from family and/or friends.
  16. I ain't even gonna lie, I love me some Ancient Aliens.
  17. For me the CDL school took about 4 1/2 weeks. I did classroom for about a week, took some practice tests, then took the tests to get a temp permit. Then I spent a couple weeks out in the yard practicing backing up and doing pretrip inspections and on the simulator. Then I went out on the road with an instructor, 20 total hours on the road. After that came the 3 tests to get the CDL: Pretrip, backing, and road test. Once I got my CDL the (****ty) company that paid for my training in exchange for a year of my services had me out on the road with a driver mentor for 2 weeks. After that, I was a full employee driving. As soon as my year was up and my contract fulfilled I handed in my 2 week notice and got a job with a decent company. Now I make fairly good money and work for a company that treats me well. That first year was rough, though, but I knew it would be going in.
  18. I fully expect Intel to bounce back, and it's not like the company is in dire straits, they're still profitable. That said, it's been a rough stretch of years for Team Blue after a long period of holding a near monopoly. In addition to all the security exploits, 10nm has been an unmitigated disaster for them. They're what, 4 or 5 years behind schedule and counting at this point?
  19. I've bought and played every Frictional game thus far, I'm fairly certain this trend will continue. I may even have my new desktop rig built by autumn, for maximum 4K mind**** goodness.
  20. Good luck. I'd say see you out there on the road, but we got an ocean between us.
  21. I played this game all the way through and here's what I'll tell you about it. It's not a good game, in fact it made many worst game of the year lists. I did, however, enjoy it, though, I have a weird appreciation for some jank stuff. And let me tell you, this game is jank as ****. Also, it has some really cringe edgelord dialogue. I liked the ship combat, even if it's a bit rough. So, why did I like it? Because it's refreshing to play a pirate game where you play an actual pirate. Generally speaking, when a game or movie has a pirate as the main protagonist, they make him or her have a heart of hold. They're rough on the outside, but they really are a good person deep inside. That's a load of horse****. Pirates are criminals. They steal, rape, and murder. Let me tell you, the character you play in this game is a piece of ****. It's a revenge story and there's no redemption arc. You cut a bloody swath through the seas to get your vengeance and that's really all there is to it. I just found that really refreshing compared to all the romanticized pirate stuff we usually get. Also, the women in this game pee standing up, which is hilarious, and they have some appropriately filthy sea shanties (though not nearly enough).
