  1. Agreed. More UI toggles is always nice to have. Nice suggestion!
  2. Truth be told, that's the only one I checked. It may very well be more streams and events of that kind that I don't know about. Pillars of Eternity will get 20 minutes more tomorrow at Live Booth, though, that much I do know.
  3. 1h 47min until the Live Booth event over at Twitch will commence! That's 20 minutes of playing Pillars of Eternity. Oh my gosh! This will be a tough Will save.
  4. Quoting myself in the thread Next Obsidian Kickstarter: I'd say that if this is indeed true, it's a mighty close guess! It was KaineParker on these forums who opened my eyes to Pathfinder, I didn't really know what it was before he explained it. Like PrimeJunta said, though, it's first and foremost a PnP system (which I like), but its helter-skelter high fantasy, I'm not sure I care too much about that.
  5. News just in: a games journalist in Cologne (Köln) just reported a few minutes ago that Paradox are doing a great job of plugging PoE and giving it exposure. Things like that make me all warm and fuzzy!
  6. Obviously, in my case, I already know far too much about the game to get a tabula rasa start. Still, it's a bit like a movie coming out that you know you want to see. In this case, it's a beta build, which I suspect is pretty much feature complete (although with some plot threads ripped out), and then I wish to experience it first hand at opening day. Once again, comparing to that movie - it would be like settling for a DVD, jumping into some mid-section of the movie, with a number of unknown commentary tracks playing on top of it, the risk being that some clever fart joke right at that beautiful bridge with a babbling brook will be your lasting memory of said bridge. I want to seep in Justin Bell's lovely music, all the neat sound effects, the rustling of grass on maps that I explore in my way before I watch playthroughs of others, however entertaining and insightful they may be, At least, that's the ideal. I wouldn't be surprised if my curiosity gets the best of me, and I succumb to watching some streamed vid after all.
  7. Me too. I was drawn in by their promised maturity in that regard. Unfortunately, their execution was often lacking. Glaring blood spatter everywhere looked weird and it got old fast.
  8. Heh! That looks like a few plastic ones I have. Is it really metal? If I get the time, I'll post a pic of mine.
  9. Thanks for the info, Labadal! However, I'll refrain from watching any replays and streams until I've played the beta build at least once, unaffected by any external opinions, as it were. How about you guys?
  10. I couldn't agree more. During the first decade of the third millennium games got almost obsessed with graphics and fast production (almost like the gaming industry crash and that ET-game in the '80s), but now, in 2014, things are shaping up, and I feel that gameplay has wrestled back its obvious place in the driver's seat of any game (perhaps, ironically, because of the app-market and all mobile devices), and of course the indie scene, with games like Minecraft.
  11. Indeed. Smart purchases of graphic cards can extend the life of your PC by as much as two years, no problem.
  12. That black smoke looks a bit over the top when the 3D model is viewed up close, but in-game, it perhaps serves as a Death Godlike marker effect, like theatre make-up is always bright and extreme in order to be seen by the audience from afar. Soon enough, we'll, get to check it out ourselves in the beta test.
  13. 5anitybane: I like your gaming philosophy. It makes lots of sense, I reckon. And as a former Brisbanite and banana bender, you get a special tip from my old cork-dangler hat.
  14. I can relate to this, although I am something of a light version of this. I very rarely pick spell-casters and magic-users for my first, second or even fifth playthroughs in CRPGs with good replay value. I tend to stick to rangers, fighters, clerics, rogues, assassins, and all kinds of mixes of these. However, race-wise, I'm much bolder. I tend to pick pretty fantastic ones already in playthrough 2 or 3. EDIT: I forgot to add that rolling up a ranged player character in playthrough 1 is not a rare thing for me, as long as it's not spells that get slung, shot or whatever.
  15. Billy O: I have no clue if you've played the IE games, but the combat in DA:O is extremely repetitive and easy, the darkspawn littering almost the entire game is the embodiment of that. I've done a couple of playthroughs on Hard, and it's a walk in the park compared to many of the good old CRPGs. It was still a pretty good game, though, but it had nothing to do with its combat difficulty. Once you got the hang of a few tricks, even dragons were pushovers. (I just hope this comment doesn't derail this great thread.)
  16. And this is something I really look forward to - lots of new twists on nostalgic monsters, beasts and apparitions! Is it just me who gets giddy over a member called "I Roll 20" having a convo with another member with a 20-sided die as an avatar? Btw, I have a metallic d20 just like that, and it's in fantastic shape despite being extremely well used - and it's over 35 years of age!
  17. Yeah. A huge and varied bestiary is a must, and I have high hopes for the one present in vanilla PoE - surely, it will be expanded upon in...*drumroll* the expansion. I Roll 20: A very accurate description of combat in DA:O there.
  18. I reckon BruceVC has love coming on, and if not, pretty darn nice material for a romantic movie. Title? Toting a Nerf Gun For Two Under Table Mountain.
  19. Alright, I just think I've gotten a glimpse of paradise. Thank you, ShadySands!
  20. This is truly sad! Our world has lost one of the best comedians and actors ever. I've watched pretty much everything he's done movie- and series-wise since Mork & Mindy, and for the most part, his performances have been mesmerizing, relievingly blunt and unpredictable. Dead Poets Society is one of my favourites, but some of his comedy stuff is just stellar. Some of it has given me stomach cramps from sheer ROFLMAO.
  21. I love your discussion, guys! But quite cheekily, I'll play moderator for a sec, add the link to the forum where it belongs, only to see if it works: http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/66500-what-are-the-min-attributes-per-class/ A foru-sophical question: Where's the limit between nice topic branching in a thread and thread derailing? EDIT: Wherever it is, I'm toing that line just by asking that question. Oops!
  22. I have done so in other Kickstarter-campaigned games, and then given such extra Steam copies to friends and family. The answer is yes.
  23. It is impressive! It's very hard to tell, but each swing actually clubs tiny bugs. When you reach 10,000 squashed bugs on your stick, a hole will open up in the sand before you. Just jump right in! It will lead you to a secret level, full of rainbows, pink trolls and candy landscaping!
  24. Yay! Wasteland2-key and lots of good news about the Backer beta (if you happen to use PC and Steam)! It's just one week away now. I wonder if the backer beta forum will open up right on cue or a bit earlier?
