No worries, mate. And you're gifted with a nice speaker voice as well! And, yeah, in-game, a more active stance is to be preferred, I reckon. IIRC, in D3 (if the comparison is allowed), they made two versions of paper dolls, one more passive for softcore and a slightly more active for hardcore (I always liked the latter - but that's just for the paper doll and it has nothing to do with their in-game idle stances).

After a few critical remarks on my behalf and others, I decided to make a topic about the breathing animation of the 3D avatar - best seen during character creation in the recently released videos, for instance this one (4 minutes in and onwards): : http://www.pcgamer.c...-infinity-rpgs/ Now I have researched a bit about the subject, and some of my criticism was definitely premature. My apologies to the animator(s) at Obsidian! I can tell now that it really emulates breathing quite well, but I will still present you with some of the latest research and modelling of breathing 3D avatars, as I think things can be improved. First have a look at this (a clever and instructive video released this year about this subject by people that know what they talk about, as opposed to me, in this case): It's obviously very technical, but if you keep looking at their statistically derived breathing and models on which it has been applied, there are some minor/slight improvements possible to the breathing found in PoE. Here are my own tweaking suggestions: -The 3D avatar during character creation is set to something like 50-80% chest breathing. Since it is pretty much an idle situation, where the model holds weapons and all, it becomes unnecessarily distracting. If you tone down the chest breathing to 20%, it looks more fitting for its paper doll purpose. Compare this yourselves, like 3:40 into the Youtube video above -Onto the nitpicking: I had no idea, but it turns out there is a slight sexual dimorphism when it comes to breathing (in humans, that is). The head and shoulders of females bob a bit more than males. Right now, though, that bobbing is too much even for female standards. Both the shoulder rolling and the head bobbing need a tiny tone-down -Finally, the lower abdomen region - the stomach and thoracic diaphragm - should actually move a bit more I have no idea if this is easy to tweak, but I'd love to hear what you guys think about this, or perhaps even get a comment from Obsidian on this.

I fear that those are all the backgrounds. One thing that struck me as slightly odd in one of those vids: A barbarian was picked, and aristocrat was available. If we think of barbarians in the typical condescending way, almost as tribal savages with rather simple technology, the thought of an aristocrat, with a monocle, a craving for tea, striped trousers, as well as exquisite taste and manners become a bit hilarious. I guess, the Penguin in Batman comes pretty close.

Yeah, most of it works pretty well as a UI. Unfortunately, just like in interior design, it rarely looks very nice mixing all sorts of woods, and here I do honestly think those lighter boards of the store shop just looks pretty bad. In addition, as I've mentioned before, the egg-white font on top of those light boards aren't very legible. I'm not sure drop shadows will save the day. I propose a re-think of those panels and the colour of the font, including its design.

Fear not, Malignicious! Obsidian's party creation system will definitely support any forms of same-sex parties (although they cannot guarantee seclusion from other genders in-game, in fact, not even gender-bending and other queer social events), and it will accommodate for this without any qualms about whatever haphephobic or misogynic reasons such special needs may entail. Happy gaming!

Naurgalen: No, you're not ill or anything. It's perfectly natural. Speaking of ill, watching the PCGamer vid yet again, I just realized, slow as I am at times, that the caravan master is called Odema, and he seems to be something of medicine man too, he offers to heal, etc. And hey, we all know the word "oedema", right? Haha, funny, Obsidian!

A cool excerpt for all of us Europeans: "Sawyer: Part of it is being based in Europe, where trends are different and PC is so big. Adler: A good majority of our fans are European. Sawyer: Our backers and fans in general. We got a lot of love here. Germany and France in particular. Adler: And Eastern Europe too. Sawyer: That’s true. For whatever reasons, they really dig our stuff." The PC and Obsidian certainly rock my world, so here's one fitting that bill.

Thank you for putting this topic on the right track: And I like to know this as well? I'd guess it isn't, but there are other folks here on the forums that are much more qualified to discern stuff like that than me. -
It's the traffic, more than anything else. If it were a straight tank up a clear road it wouldn't be nearly so bad. Unfortunately the roads around London are a car park and the M1's always got roadworks. You could try going the other way and sit on the M6 car park for a while, I suppose. It takes more twice the time to get North of Birmingham than it does to get from there to Scotland. That's so very true! I forgot to mention that the British Isles aren't just any old islands - there are heaps and heaps of people living there too, and they tend to go around in motorized vehicles.

Hiro: Fair enough. That can certainly be the case at times. As long as it can be confirmed (reasonably) that this is what's going on, any valid criticisms of that behaviour is welcome, but wouldn't you say that far too many shoot from the hip as soon as they suspect that's the case? -

Translation: Overzealousness=SJW In my experience on forums, and its going way back, the blockage and clots caused by any such discussions, the vast majority of posts in them consist of anti-SJW. They treat any diverting opinions as some pop-a-mole game. Those discussions could have been much healthier, flowing and constructive, otherwise. -

Indeed. SJW arguments are nothing but smoke screens, fending off unwanted opinions, criticisms and (even) people. Sad, but true. It reeks of immaturity and ill-hidden fear, IMHO. -

Having grown up a while in White Australia myself, I can certainly confirm the predominance of harsh treatment of anything different. Comments like eyetie, wog and chinaman were everyday phenomena, like three decades back, even in cities. In one school I went to, in year twelve there were like 1,500 pupils there, and only one of them, was of aboriginal descent. Other "minorities" were ironically, taken together, the majority, but it was an endless (and thankfully, often slightly lovingly, grain-of-salty) picking on your origins and looks, that kind of bickering was the norm. That said, though, Sensuki, if I were you, I would refrain from any claims of knowing why people are fighting for various social issues. How you can separate what is right from wrong behind the internets and a digital screen, is beyond me. Isn't that kind of fight for social justice always important? Can we ever have enough of it? Instead of jumping on some macho bandwagon, with condescending jargon, pouncing on anything that even remotely tries to live up to some common decency, why not just acknowledge that gamers are gamers regardless of gender, race, class, sexual orientation, and what not? Also, a thing to ask youself (we all need to ask ourselves this on a regular basis): What benefits do I reap from maintaining any of those hierarchies? "Girl gamer" is so last millennium. Give it a break, any of yous that still live in that la-la-land, and lay off with the hardboiled attitude already, and bring out your inner whimp. -
I watched the Giant Bomb vid for a third time (Yes, my anticipation level is that high, thank you!), and I just realized that the loot one of the Oozes leave behind is a cloak made out of fabric. Presumably, it's super-magic and very easy to clean from goo. Wouldn't it make sense that nearly nothing organic besides perhaps bone can survive an unknown number of days inside an Ooze as loot? Something for Obsidian to consider when doing loot tables for Oozes, Gelatinous Cubes, etc.
