When talking with NPCs, there’s always a conflict with their floating bark texts and the sign that pops up with the NPC’s name on it. It makes the white texts hard to read. Also, the text shifts. A better solution is needed.

I haven't been able to zoom in the game at all with the mouse wheel.

Loading screens with that big-anfang ”L” are behaving erratically. Some look normal, with a huge ”L” followed by ”LOADING…” in the same font size. But others have their ”OADING”-part with varied font sizes per letter.

Yup, I can confirm this! If you hire a 4th level adventurer at the Draconian inn, you lose 4,000 cp, but you still just get a lvl 1 adventurer. Bummer!

But others have their ”OADING”-part with varied font sizes per letter. -Also, varying font sizes seem to be intentional, for instance in the ”CONTINUE” button on the bottom of a convo window, or if you press ”ESC” and watches the UI options in the save screen. After having played for a few hours, those varying font sizes may appear anywhere, and I now doubt they are intentional! Personally, I don’t like it.

I predict that I won't be playing this today. It is a bit sad, but then again, I'll be up, bright and early tomorrow, and sink my teeth into it! Have fun, you lucky ones! (mostly in the Americas, and you midnight oil types, students, etc.)

Hmm. Perhaps the keys will be sent out today, more or less in conjunction with a soonish update? Then, tomorrow (*shiver at the thought*) at, say, 10 am PDT, Steam will make the beta build available.

I see a dev in the list below (Hi, Dimitri!) - they are awake. The update is coming any minute now (or so I presume)!!

Obsidian employees in charge of this beta getting up and running *insert name here* may wake up any minute now. Then they'll check out these forums, eat their breakfast and then go to OE's office. Once there, they will make sure that the update goes live (so perhaps two hours from now). Then Steam will make the beta build available slightly late (like CET 19:30). That's my futile prediction. I just wrote this up, coz I can't concentrate on any work, and I just want that PoE fix now!

Doxy: It depends on which aspects of it that get your juices flowing. Character creation alone, which I adore, could easily add up to dozens of hours for me. Also, I saw that you could hire adventurers in that backer inn for like 1,000-4,000 cp. If they're generous with money for the sake of the beta, I can see myself playing this demo up until they release the full game. I played the pre-released DA-character creation engine more than that game itself.

Perhaps this is heresy, but I don't need all portraits to be facial. I'd love to see portraits like this: Also, while I'm at it, I prefer this smeared, dirty and even grainy look, over those crystal-clear and over-lit BG EE portraits we just saw.

This is pretty much how I feel And for some bizarre reason, it made me think of those pain diggers getting happiness out of hanging in metal hooks, as seen in the Moaning of Life, with Karl Pilkington, ep 2, for instance.

Alright! That's it. I've had it. I can't take this anymore. This waiting is horrible. I didn't think I had to resort to this, but I have no other option now...

The two portraits on the bottom left looks like they're based on photographs, which then have been painted over. The one in the middle in the bottom row is perhaps a backer portrait. However, she actually looks quite a lot like the portrait right above her, which is weird. The two portraits in the corners of the upper row are my favourites among this bunch.
