  1. Haven't played this in such a long time. Something like a year. Will have to check it out. Internet quotas? So last century.
  2. I wonder how many people have googled and watch the video of the Japanese wrestling match with the life-sized animatronic raptor. That was a great video.
  3. After a week with this Kickstarter, it's only at 10% funding. Can't see it getting funded. And it appears the team hasn't made a game before. The first thing I noticed was all those physical tiers include a lot of stuff. I don't think they realise how much money it costs to produce all the physical items.
  4. You can usually min-max in both cases. Point buy makes it easier imo. eg. Playing a rogue and I can allocate points in DEX? Okay I'll just max DEX. With playing D&D, Traveller and 40K over the last few years and depending on which class you're playing in those systems, it can be easy to know which points to allocate over other stats.
  5. Well he did say this. Someone asking others if they're trolling and then ends up saying SMD. Please try to move past Stage 1 in the grieving process (denial) and go directly to Stage 5 - acceptance. It's the healthy thing to do. QFT SMD
  6. Doesn't change the fact that an objective analysis of the implementation of romance in video games is relevant to the "general discussion" of a video game that has decided there will not be romance. First of there was nothing objective about it. Secondly it's an equivalent to a thread about how much better turn based combat is. It's irrelevant to PE now. Maybe some people should start threads on The case for Turn Based combat and use science behind it. It wouldn't be trolling or anything because it's an objective analysis of TB combat in video games and relevant to the "general discussion" of a video game that has decided there will not be any Turn Based combat. The same with starting threads for the case of other things that won't be in PoE and using science.
  7. I agree with this. BG/PST/Fallout I would regard as the second golden age of rpgs, while the first was around the time of the Gold Box games (1988-1992) and other games around this time. I find it harder to get into the earlier games now and prefer the turn of the century games.
  8. Fallout 3 is an awesome game. IWD2 is the worse of the IE games due to 3rd ed rules, some atrocious parts like the Fellwood & Time Loop in Dragon's Eye and an ending that is the very definition of 'kill steal'.
  9. You mean like an antagonist who decides they want to build a society that would accept all different types of people including half-breeds and destroy those who had oppressed or opposed them? Sounds like a game I know.
  10. Looks like I'm in the minority with enjoying linear games with the illusion of choice.
  11. ^ Yep. The ownership of money seems to be lost with some people when a transaction is made. I tried to keep it a little simple.
  12. I agree. I'm not opposed to mod tools being released. I think it would be a great idea. If Obsidian decides to not release tools, then I respect and understand their decision. If further down the track they do release mod tools, then even better. What I don't agree with is requiring Obsidian to release mod tools with some of the arguments in this thread.
  13. but, but, but... It's for the good and longevity of the game! Obsidian be damned.
  14. This. When a game developer "gives you" their tools, they still have them. A tradesman cannot do this, as his tools are not digital. False logic and the same principle applies. You can't ask for something to be given to you, that wasn't promised to you, that wasn't part of the job, and the original agreement excluded those tools and it's what you agreed to originally. Even if the tradesperson created special tools for that specific job with the money you gave to them, they're under no obligation to give them away. They may create copies of those tools, they may lease those copies to another tradesperson, they're not obliged to give a copy of those tools to you because you now want them.
  15. A tradesperson wouldn't say that because you haven't asked him for his hammer. However the tradesperson can point you in the right direction without giving them their tools. Obsidian can point you to the Unity website.
  16. No, please read what I posted. If you give money to a tradesperson (say a deposit) which is quite normal for some tradespeople depending on the job (painters come to mind) and they go and buy some tools and supplies with that money you gave them and they did a job for you, (remember, they are using your money, not theirs) then are you entitled to those tools? Or are you only entitled to the work that tradesperson did? It's the same thing. A bit of life experience would help as this does happen in the building industry. It's also standard in other industries as well.
  17. If I pay a tradesperson, a plumber or electrician to do a job and with the money they receive from me decides to buy some tools, do I get to keep the tools too? Even though all I asked for was something that excluded those tools?
  18. Lephys, considering that you've said in the other romance thread that you don't discriminate and see reasonable arguments on the no romance side of the discussion. What are your reasonable arguments that you would not want to see romances in PoE? Why don't you want romances in PoE?
  19. I'm glad I didn't pre-order this here. Will have to get a copy somewhere else. I wonder how much time, work and money this takes for Obsidian.
  20. It was a rhetorical question. I had that thread opened in another tab. I'm thinking JFSOCC meant nerfed instead of neutered but I don't consider it a nerf either. But anyway, the issue of crafting has been done and dusted and even Josh commented that he wasn't confident with it:
  21. neutered: the removal of an animal's reproductive organ, either all of it or a considerably large part. So when did crafting (or a considerably large part of it) get pulled from the game?
  22. The same can be said for those who want something that wasn't promised or part of the stretch goals and want the game delayed further when others don't want it. How very selfish that line of thinking to delay a game for something that wasn't promised nor part of the stretch goals and to inconvenience other backers who don't want it, just because some people want mod tools. And paladins were part of a stretch goal. They promised they would be in the game. Obsidian can't cut paladins. It seems odd that you would compare something Obsidian promised us, something that was part of a stretch goal to something that wasn't. Obsidian didn't promise mod tools. And did you miss the part where if Obsidian did release mod tools further down the track, I would be okay with that? Seems you did. They promised us a game, not a game with mod tools. So you use mod tools? Plenty of us wouldn't. And we shouldn't be inconvenienced with a game delayed any further because of it.
  23. Considering I'm a backer, I wouldn't want Obsidian to spend time on making mod tools, spending time on QA, spending time on adding instructions of the mod tools to the manual and anything else that involves in time and money, if it's going to take time away from the games release. Mainly because I don't use mod tools, I don't create mods and very rarely use mods. So it really doesn't affect this backer. So it's not a question of rights for me. And as Gizmo said, It wasn't part of a stretch goal. If Obsidian decides to release mod tools down the track, I'm also fine with that.
  24. The problem with this line of reasoning is you can apply it to anything. It doesn't necessarily make it right. eg. You don't have to <spam rest, use a +5 vorpal sword, engage in romances, etc> so there's little reason not to include it.
  25. I think the fact that you created a new thread instead of posting this in the current romance thread shows you wanted people to respond to it and why it didn't go into obscurity. You even said it here that you felt no one would have read it in the other thread. I can guarantee you this sort of post would have been read and replies would have ensued. Like waving a red flag to of a bull. I have to question why anyone would create another romance thread when it would just rile up the forum even more, which it did. If this was posted in the other romance thread, we would have seen the other thread locked by now (due to number of pages and this science topic) and this would have all blown over. While your OP may not have been a troll, It's very close to a troll post and one or two replies from yourself have been trolls when good replies have been given to you. If you're going to use a For and Against argument and bring science into it, you have to use it for both sides of the argument. Anyway, I've said enough. This is my last post on the matter and I'm out of here.
