  1. I seriously have to question why anyone would have a fear of the overall level of writing by Obsidian when they use romances as a standard of writing ability and excellence for writers to be measured and judged by.
  2. No DLC. Save it all for the expansion if you can't fit it in the main game. Additional companions, wilderness areas and make an expansion we won't forget.
  3. It depends on what you're marketing for, the target audience and is the money going into cosplay marketing by the company a worthwhile endeavour if cosplayers are going to cosplay anyway? Regardless if there was marketing or not. You already have cosplayers for video games, anime, movies, tv shows, comics, toys, but I don't see their marketing departments spending the money to target cosplayers and releasing dress patterns so the cosplayers can get it 100% right with their costumes. Those companies seem to do alright with how they market their goods without having to spend money to target cosplayers or cake decorators.
  4. I'm not keen on the big flappy ears for the earth godlike. Maybe I'll get used to it after a while. I do like the death ones though.
  5. I want Obsidian to make a quality game and the game they've always wanted to do. if that excludes romances to keep that high level of quality, then I'm all for it.
  6. Werewolves usually have fur all over them. The model seems to have fur around the mane and a little down the front and back. I'd like to know if there will be both male and female cat druids.
  7. I would have thought one of the biggest hurdles would be the creation of 2d art backgrounds for the game.
  8. No it's not. You're only quoting part of it and then twisting his words around. Try again. Also, it's a bit of an insult to suggest Obsidian doesn't have the writing talent to write romances.
  9. BG1 had no romances and didn't suffer for it. Considering PoE is a low level game perhaps similar to BG1, I don't see PoE suffering with no romances. I can imagine people lowering their pledges to avoid that stretch goal.
  10. Some people get a little too precious and defensive over such things. I've been to many comic conventions where I've said to people dressed up with comments like, 'it looks funny, ridiculous but I like it' and they don't get offended by me laughing with them.
  11. I'll have to make sure I get my cake design with the correct amount of detail when I bake my cake.
  12. I imagine Monte Carlo has a backbone, drinks cement and has a cup that says HTFU.
  13. Yes I have. I play pnp every Saturday afternoon and have said to friends beforehand that I can't see them on a Saturday afternoon due to this. BBQ lunch this Saturday? No, sorry already have something on. How about dinner at 6pm? Sure, no problem. Even my partner has said I can't attend and for them to change the time to later at night or different day to a Sunday. They don't understand what pnp is but they accept I can't see them. They know it's a game but don't understand how it works. And they accept I have something on at that time. If a friend couldn't attend a function, lunch, bbq, or any other social function, I would never hold it against them because they had a prior engagement. Sounds like you need to get better friends if they don't accept your own personal time and things and they demand you to stop with your life to be at their beck and call. Obviously if it was something important or a special function, I would forego pnp. As for the dress patterns. Perhaps Obsidian can follow in Bioware's footsteps and create some patterns for Pallegina and Sagani. Here's a website for different styles. I think it would be divine to see Pallegina in a Halter Cut. Quick Obsidian, create some dress designs so we can see them please. And it would be great for the Cosplayers to be able to know how to make a Halter Cut, Evening Gown or a Tunic for Pallegina and Sagani. It's just as important to get the details right as it is with dual wielding and cool downs. This post is of a humorous nature and should not be considered serious in anyway.
  14. I'm not sure how creating a dress pattern for cosplayers to go home to stitch, sew and use their sewing machine is part of the mechanics of a game. Dual wielding, cool downs and now dress patterns for cosplayers are now equal. And it's a bit much to say people are shaming them. All I see is some fun being poked at Bioware for releasing dress patterns which you would probably buy at a haberdashery shop or something similar. Merchandising is great for video game developers/publishers like selling t-shirts, cups, hats, and all sorts of stuff. It's just something new to see a video game developer/publisher also create dress patterns with their merchandise.
  15. I got the impression that Tamerlane was suggesting nothing. eg. Baldur's Gate spell damage was affected by... nothing. Which is correct when referring to your attributes. However, some spells like Magic Missile did increase in damage as you level up but it had nothing to do with any attributes. So you could have a Mage with a Might (Str) & Int of 18 and a second Mage with Might (Str) / Int of 9 and both would put out the same damage.
  16. I'd like to create a party of Orlan Chanters. Tellers of tall tales and hallowed legends. And every time before I go out adventuring, I want to stop by a tavern to buy them the strongest ale, to toast the tavern for their success. And have them inebriated and perhaps misplaced courage while they head out of town towards that dungeon. And have all the side effects from that ale.
  17. I preferred IWD1 in every way than IWD2. Story, atmosphere, pacing, characters, gameplay, movies, combat. Even the ending was more satisfying. Some problems I had with IWD2 from the top of my head. The game was overly long, parts of the story didn't make sense, the pacing was off, some areas were tedious, and the ending was unsatisfying. Compare that to IWD1, and it's chalk and cheese.
  18. Bates Motel is a great show. The actor that plays Norman really does the character justice. Vera Farmiga is also great as the mother. The TV show is a very good prequel to the original Psycho (not the terrible remake). It is a little jarring at first since the prequel is set as today while the original was back in the 1960s.
  19. IWD2 was a bit of a cakewalk. At the start it was challenging because you're low level, but as you levelled up, it got easier. In terms of combat, I rate it second lowest after Planescape Torment and that's not a good thing being marketed as a combat focussed game. Even the dragons were no challenge. One tactic I'll give it is the ambushing spawning monsters behind your party and you were trapped in the middle which BG2 didn't really do (except for thieves), but that wasn't hard to overcome. The end battle was challenging but overall underwhelming and the way it ends really disappointed me. I won't say anymore due to spoilers. It's the least favourite of the IE games for me. BG2 had vampires, mind flayers, Balors, Liches and difficult high level encounters. Some are easy now once you know the easy way to kill them. But even now I sometimes get level drained in BG2.
  20. Well you do have pnp rpg's like Doctor Who where there's no levels and no xp and you roleplay the characters. It's even called a roleplaying game. There is no story and it's up to the DM and the players. Unfortunately, they seem to get turned into action or adventure video games other than rpgs.
  21. I don't think sports sims are rpgs. Otherwise you would have games like Football Manager as a rpg which it's not. Simulation games are another genre which includes sports sims, flight sims, train sims, etc.
