Aerie baby? I recall that. But regarding romances...what makes a good or bad romance is highly subjective...because of what people find attractive. People have different oppinions of Elenee, Aerie, Jaheira, Viconia, Morrigan, Leliana and others (Allistair, Zevran, Anomen, etc..) To some Morigan is the perfect woman and perfect romance. Others are compeltely indifferent to her. Others again hate her. The smae goes for every character.

Fetch Quests: Repurpose, Don't Remove
TrashMan replied to Lephys's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
I generally agree with the OP, but not that every fetch quest has to have some greater significance. Maybe a guy who wants 10 rat tails just wants to make rat-tail soup? Or that old guy who asked you to chop down a few trees, really jsut needs them for firewood and nothing more. And he's old and tired so he paid you.- 61 replies

There's also all that nuclear waste that needs to be taken care off. -
Hm....an idea. Have the option to seduce and bang a woman NPC in some town. Only to when you return later, you find out she's preggers. Then you can run away or take responsiblity for the spawn of Satan that will result from your thyrst and marry her. Bonus points is there are several womn, and it's random which gets pregnant. Then you have to live with a woman you knwo nothing about and ma end up hating.

MEh. I worked on mods too. And on actual games. You say it doesnt' work, I say you're wrong. Stronghold? I don't care about it. More items? I was against too much loot to beign with. So really..the "more resources to add to other stuff" argument is wasted. I'm well aware of it. And I'm also well aware of the fact that often times adding mroe of X is worse than adding Y. So to answer your question - yes, I really want them to spend time on this "money sink" So what? There is more than one purpose even if they stated or started with one. The potential is there, wether you like it or not. Blind to sarcasm I see? In case you missed it, I'm DELIBERATLY usign your kind of reasoning - in this case a blanket dismissal using past experience as a blank check to do it. Then maybe you realise PE might have a better durabiltiy mechanic than you've seen before. You are wrong. There is a penalty. You are just to blind to notice it. Not sleeping is not a penalty? Since when? Not healing is not a penalty in battle? Not buffing is not a penalty in battle? A lesser sword is not a penalty? No, it doesn't. Period.

Update #58: Crafting with Tim Cain!
TrashMan replied to Darren Monahan's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
Well, you're gonna be visiting towns anyway frequently enough, so I don't see any "tedious extra step here". People forget to repair? Their fault. It's no different than forgetting to rest - actually it's LESS punishing. Use your backup. Scavange from the enemy. Push on or go back. The idea that everything should be "fixed easily" is one I'm 100% against. What's the point of penalties and deterrenats if they are easily fixed or ignored? Some people seem to think every mechanic that isn't instant-gratification is a pain or PUNISHMENT. Pussies. Whimps.- 633 replies

The Science of Why We Don't Believe in Science
TrashMan replied to alanschu's topic in Way Off-Topic
I like to meet the people you meet. Cause generally speaking, here on the internet more people are more familiar with anime. And since you "meet" a redicolous number of poeple over the internet, the idea that "most people accept anime" sounds good. Except it's not so. A whole lot of poeple on the internet don't. They might know that various kinds of peopel watch it, or that it has older audience, but they still consider it childish. And then you run into all the people who aren't on the internet or who don't run around in circles where they are exposed to anime - they know little to nothing about it and don't care. It being availalbe at Wallmarts? So is "babies first X" and Carebares toys and lord knows what not. Beign realidy avialable is a completley different thing from being accepted. Acknowledign it's existence is different from accepting that it's not for kids and very childish grown-ups. Hence why, from my experience, the idea that anime is widly accepted is untrue. -

I don't recall anyone suggesting that system. Durabiltiy 0 means the sword broke, but a smith can still repair (re-forge) it.- 633 replies

Meh. Click bottun to rest or click bottun to repair. What's the difference? You still click a bottun...and you'll probably have to rest more often in comparison. People are fine with so many thing that can easily be labeled as repatitive, boring or tedious - like inventory tetris. But suddenly, durabiltiy is bad. I don't get this.- 633 replies

If I'd have to guess, it's probably because I can have a picnic with friends in RL, but I can't really kill people. Well....I can. But the last time I tried there were practical complications. Just cleaning the blood alone is tedious and tme-consuming.

A ammo clip with bullets placed in the wrong way? They should be placed horizontally.

I don't know what you are talking about there. Proper equipment mantainance DOES prolong it's life. Re-heating and re-forging is a valid method of repair. You could make an argumetn that if you re-forge it, it's not the same blade anymore...but that's how blades were repaired. Doesn't that assume PE has an admanite proxy? Who said there has to be some indestructable material at all? And what if that blade mets the blade of total annihilation? Immovable Object vs. Unstoppable Force?- 633 replies
