  1. cooldowns feel like they trivialize magic. Especially high level magic.
  2. Levitation/Telekinesis ---high medium level to high level ability) Charm animal ---(low level ability) Read thoughts --- (medium level) Dominate soul (permanently bind another sentient creature into a task or your service--very high level) Invisibility ---(medium level Dimensional Gate/short range teleportation --- (high level) Lock/unlock --- (Low medium level) Finger of Death ---(high level. %chance mitigated by stats) Agony--(torture spell--Low level with scaling power)
  3. my god sir...what are you suggesting? the very thought of a game without at 'least' ONE monty python reference hidden somewhere turns my very blood to ice. Serious is good. Great even: I wouldn't have the game any other way, but rare hidden little easter eggs and subtle (or not so subtle) references to humorous things can add a lot.
  4. Food and sleep should both be absolutely necessary, but food shouldn't be 'too' punishing. Eating your enemies, rats, or conjuring food should all be options. it's very frustrating to be at the final floor of the dungeon, almost ready to fight the ?evil? ogre mage...and then have to turn back cause you have to buy more provisions. Of course...if the going gets really tough, the tough sometimes must try to eat their companions. or their gerbils.
  5. Yaaaarrr!!! (yes). preferably polymorphed into kitten form.
  6. impossible odds and multiple varied solutions add so much to a game if done properly. they are great features.
  7. Houses are overrated. The Planar Sphere. THAT was epic. true shame it couldn't have had a bigger part in BGII.
  8. Violence and blood and gore. yeah absolutely. Just not for it's own sake.
  9. You say 'the dark side of romance' and STDs is the best you can come up with? I was expecting something else for some reason. Magical STDs. Prudy gods with a mean streak. demons that prey on sex and lust. other stuff.
  10. oh descriptive dialogue! Pleaase! I love all the dialogues :D.
  11. The puzzles and dungeons in Baldur's Gate were wonderful. I hope they have many more in this game.
  12. There MUST be traps! though they should be rare enough to be unusual, though deadly enough to feared. Slime Traps! Arrow Traps! Entangle Traps! Fireball Traps! Bunny Traps (it dumps rabid bunnies on you). Charm traps! And many many more!.
  13. I suppose. It could very well depend on the house. We'll see.
  14. I love this. Purely offensive magic is boring. It's the magic 'outside' of combat that truly makes it wonderful. Being able to threaten people with it, put on displays (or not), Use it in unconventional ways. Just being able to interact with the world with it when not in combat, as if it was a significant part of who and what you are....that is what truly makes or breaks a magic system.
  15. Yeah. I like that. I have 'no' doubt that this will hit 2 million. personally I think(hope) that eternity will break Double Fine's record for 3.3 million. I hope they add Paypal soon. I prefer to use paypal, but if it's not added soon I'll have to cave and just use my card.
  16. I'm sorry for the confusion. I already mentioned this actually, but I don't mean an actual tower. Just the concept. A stronghold. like the planar sphere. Something interesting.
  17. I agree absolutely. Cutscenes are fine and great, but Narrated sequences cost significantly less and work just as well. Not to say I'm against the 'idea' of cutscenes for this game, but they should be in strict moderation. maybe just a beginning and ending cutscene? similar to placescape torment and baldur's gate beginning and ending cutscenes. (if budget allows.)
  18. I agree. Tower was just the easiest way for me to generalize the concept. Something more interesting is in order.
  19. I like romance, but...It's not the most important thing for me. I'd rather have other features. I don't think it'll draw too much from other areas of design though. I hope not anyway.
  20. EDIT: sorry. Poll was broken when this was originally posted. NO was the only choice. :I. i am real good at the forums. #1. EDIT2: Wizard Tower is a generalization. It was the easiest way for me to express the concept. What I MEAN is a stronghold. and an INTERESTING one. Not a generic tower. You know: A Wizards tower that can be acquired in the latter portion of the game. I personally LOVED the Planar Sphere. It was one of my favorite things in Baldur's Gate II. It just felt...so...so...mysterious. so magical. the art and atmosphere was simply perfect. I wished they could have spent more time and resources making it even more dynamic. More exploration and creation. More magic. De'arnise keep was pretty cool as well (though I loved the planar sphere more.) Who would like to see something similar in Project Eternity? for the wizards tower, there are certain mechanics that, when properly implemented, are simply LOADS of fun. 1. Apprentice(s)--Selection of, Training of, turning them into your bestest friends(slaves). And the growth of their power and ambition(will they be loyal to you? will they betray you? is their apprenticeship just a means to an end for them?) I don't just mean you pick from a lineup of potential apprentices. Ideally, searching for and convincing potential applicants (or their parents) to become your students should be a journey in itself. 2. Exploration of magics and magical beings dark and wonderful. I can't think of much to say here. It's...Just the feeling of exploring Jon Irenicus's lab. Finding all the strange, horrible, and wondrous things there. The wonder of things beyond your comprehension. the djinn and the 'things' in the tubes that were once living beings. now imagine that YOU are the one who's delving into forbidden or lost magic and binding these great creature to your will. going to great lengths to create obscure magical apparatus. 3. Experiments. Learn more about magic. Learn more about anatomy. Can you use the body parts of living creatures to sew together a protector for your lab? Can you enchant someone's boots to cause spiders to fall madly in love with them? then again, why spiders? why not bears? the world needs more bears falling in love with villagers. can we do it? Let's find out. I assure you Mr. peasant sir that amorphous blob over there was absolutely NOT your son. it was a bandit. your son is the rooster in that cage over there. by the scorpions. There are just so many great examples of crazy magic in Baldur's Gate and Planescape torment. I love those things. Many great chances for hilarity, fantastic text, and, if you're too lazy to do it yourself, forcing apprentices to experiment on kidnapped peasants.
