Wow, ok wait.... What? I can't even wrap my head arround this one. You'd really prefer scouring the world map high and low repeatedly because any event or finished quest could unlock another quest at any random loction to just having the avaible quests at each location right there for you to pick and choose from? Huh. Because it's more "real"? Being drip fed content sounds exactly like something I wouldn't want from an RPG that strifes to be "oldschool" like the Infinity Engine RPGs. Are questlogs really that hard to use for you?

He is making perfect sense. And I see it like he does. I want to be able to do any quest at any time given that I am currently able to access it's location. Not only when some unknown condition has been met at some unknown point in the game. Constantly having to recheck every area of the game in case a previous action unlocked some hidden content sounds grating, especially when you do a replay of the game and already know that "this" quest should be "here", but it isn't.

Missing Impact Animations?
Quadrone replied to Gribbel86's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Did they say outright that they forgot them? Otherwise that rather sound like something done knowingly. I.e. it was because of time or money constrains or even a problem with the engine making them tricky to implement. Wasn't NWN2 one of those games that had a lot of problems during development anyway or am I mixing something up here. Eh, not neccesarily true. If you look at Wasteland 2 they supposedly are in Beta now, but the last update confirmed that they still will implement completly new features such as combat stances, special attacks and more. So I think for Kickstarter games noticable changes are a possibility even much later on than usual. Though that is already assuming that these animations aren't placeholders in the first place.- 23 replies

Missing Impact Animations?
Quadrone replied to Gribbel86's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
They know "proabably", i just want to be sure. I remember some dev. diary about making things right from the beginning and in terms of animation they seem to left this completely out...iam just concerned. I usually try not to be an ass to people new to the forum but come on.... Yes, Obsidian totally forgott to make hit-animations for all the characters/creatures in the game, good catch there pal. If only they had some kind of feature list to work from or at least some more experience in making games so they wouldn't overlook obvious stuff like that, but alas... . . . I really can't roll my eyes hard enough at this post.- 23 replies

Next week? Why are you giving them that much slack? Coming up with one update in which Obsidian can write as much or as little as they want between 10.12.13 and tomorrow is really not that much of a monumental task. -

Wow, whose bright idea was it to allow that? Game Devs are so damn lazy! -
Wha... Is today opposite day? Because that would be my anti-list. EDIT: Seriously, did I take the bait or is this serious?

Eh, don't really want to argue but I'll retort at least once... Not really, Obsidian created a chart in which they wrote down what assets they had to create, how many workhours that would take them, at what cost ,etc... ending in an approximate date for the games release. I'm fine with that target date. But now they want to add to that list, which in turn will affect said date. I don't want the game out as soon as humanly possible, I just don't want it delayed (or rather not delayed beyond a certain point). Is that so? I said in one of my earlier post that I'd be fine with more Stretchgoals if they manage to produce this new content alongside normal production, which could be the case with increased teams-size/man-hours, but so far I've not seen a clear indication it will happen like that. (Increasing their team size permanently, I mean.) Outsourcing the new wilderness area(s) doesn't really increase their manpower, to my understanding it just means that the initial art is done by someone else and then it returns to the same team to be worked over and get filled with quest and stuff. This takes time. Well that entirely irrelevant isn't it? Adding additional workhours required in the middle or at the end of production still makes for the same outcome. If this was meant humorously I'm sorry, but to my excuse I'm German. I'm not against stretchgoals on principle, I just don't have that initiate deep trust that you seem to have and rather think that BAdler's OP is laking in critical information like: when was the game intended to be released and by how much would what stretchgoal delay the release date. What if the Stretchgoals are too successfull? I don't want to see a miniature Star Citizen going on with ever new goals and an ever more distant release date. After all why would Obsidian turn down free funding if the demand is there? Though, if Obsidian can assure me that a 2014 release date is not in danger at any point I'll shut up and sit down right now.

They would require design time for the content, though again, we're not talking about massive increases of development time. Well, "massive" is still a hard to quantify word, so this doesn't really reassure me. The release date for PE is inoffically(?) Winter 2014, so with roughly a development time of two years a delay of 2-3 months would not be "massive" but could push PE into 2015 which I'm not much in favor of. My non-expert opinion: If there will be additional Stretchgoals put this extra content in a post release free DLC or the expansion. None of it should be critical to the game itself so why delay everything for some bonus stuff?

Not gonna vote until we know more. If new Stretchgoals mean PE could get pushed into 2015 then I'm completely against it.

This. I am not really in favor of new Stretch Goals if that means that PE will be delayed in any significant way. I'm quiet honestly impatient to play PE and I can do without extra wilderness and companions if that means I get to play the game before Q4 2014. If you can somehow develop these things alongside everything else though then that's perfectly fine.

Update 68 Camp-out thread

It's getting really tiresome... You could at least have been honest about it last week. -
Update 68 Camp-out thread
Quadrone replied to Sensuki's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
But then they will have to make another update for next week and I suspect that writing those updates are not the most fun chore Huh? Did I miss the announcement, or are you just being pessimistic? And why would they need to make one for next week? The last update was just a quick patch up for the "broken promise". Though they usually do an update every two weeks, this rythm is not set in stone. I just think it would be ****ty to withhold something that was more or less promised just because "We don't do two updates one week after the other , lol." -
Update 68 Camp-out thread
Quadrone replied to Sensuki's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
It better be tomorrow, otherwise I'll have to sit here and simmer with impotent rage again. Seriously though, I'd be quite disapointed if it isn't tomorrow. Because then the only reason for withholding it would be "We don't do weekly updates!", despite that technically everything should have been ready since last week. -

Aww man ... Could at least have done an update about something *fun* like skills or spells or classes or talents or ...... *kicks away stone* -
I'm not sure what part you're referring to. I don't have any problem with goofy dialogues when they fit. "Entertainment" is a good reason to include a dialogue option as long as it's mixed in with choices that have a larger impact. I guess he meant this part: The bolded part roughly translates to: "There were also a lot of Nonsense-Dialogues. Those might have been entertaining, but we belive you'd rather see and read really good dialogues."

Nice update, please more of this! Can never get enough of skill/spell/class descriptions. Oh, and please do the Barbarian next, I urgently need to know if my Barbarian will still be able to properly go BERSERKER!! in PE. Concerning the Vithrack design: I like it a lot. Unlike what others suggest I prefer the more humanoid approach, as it gives it a more weird, lanky/slender apperance. Love those fingers! Only thing I might change up are those "hair lumps" at the back of its head, they look kinda artificial. How about some really long, black, thick, wirery hairs. Somehing like backwards antenae bound into a ponytail.

Conversation lightweight UI mockup
Quadrone replied to MCZ's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Aside from the fact that I don't really like any of it, I just don't understand why someone would make this? Making a UI with no basis to go on, is this like fanfiction for people who are into graphic design?
